"The Worst Flood in Living Memory" - Yangshuo, China | June 2020

In June 2020, Yangshuo experienced its worst natural climate change disaster to date. Water poured into this beautiful tourist town from two nearby rivers, with shocking consequences.
The area received the highest amount of rainfall recorded in 200 years.
The "worst flood in living memory" devastated bridges and some unfortunate houses, as the rampaging water turned streets to rivers and left many stranded on higher ground.
This flood is part of an annual increase in extreme temperatures and water levels that the town of Yangshuo has been experiencing for the last 20 years.
Locals worry what the future could hold.

@@douglasahowell2740 XD even though China being world factory for 40 years our per-capita carbon dioxide emmision is still way less than US and most western countries. And you don't see much report on pollution in major cities on western media because things are getting better here day by day . Our president has put environment protection on top agenda while US has withdrawn from the Paris environment protection agreement. Oh and one more thing, 40 years ago China was an extremely poor country with a per capita income same as an African country, our people were starving and suffering, we develop fast not because of greed , but because we want a living standard same as developed nations, and we don't want to be sitting there begging for food and aid like a dog. You have no right to judge us , or our government, because your grandparents or great-grandparents did the same. Funny that when the same flooding happens in Japan or other parts of world people just pray for them, but if this happens in China people will speak against us, i guess that's because some stupid western propoganda really make people brainless and foolish.

Actually you can do it, just put your house on stilts. I remember watching a documentary (I think it was Lands of the Monsoon) where one region gets inundated every year. The people's solution: During the dry season you have to climb up a 10-20 foot ladder to get to your house, and in the wet season you go out in a boat. Looked like a pretty good life. But for the particular landscape in this video, it might be easier to build on the side of one of those hills. Depends on how often rocks and trees come tumbling down.

There are (sometimes large) mudslides here often enough to make building near the mountains dangerous. Also this level of water is not normal, otherwise I'm sure something like the stilts would have been implemented as it has in other parts of China

Thank you for that informative video. My thoughts go out to the people in these parts. Interesting what he said, more extremes, polarizations etc.

I have in-laws in the Shanghai area of China, all of whom speak English well enough that I can understand the gist of what they are saying. Everytime my wife makes a call to her brother there I always break in for a short conversation and we both enjoy it. Two of her nephews speak our language easily as well as we do and one works in international business which uses English to communicate world wide. Of course, I have been to China on 3 occasions and my wife had to translate for me. You can go to any park in Shanghai and join in on a conversation by several locals practicing their English skills. I enjoyed the couple times I did that and made many friends just by answering their questions, about English, in English. Stay safe Lossy. And I love your Huskie photo. I'm still a huge fan of UW sports in Seattle (my former home).

Thank you for this video with English subtitles. However, the damage is due to the solar cycles...solar cycle 25th/ Eddie Minimum just started with the highest cosmic radiation levels causing more cloud nucleation meaning more rain.... Nothing to do with human activities or CO2. Sad for lives and economic loss from destruction and hope they will recover soon.

Plz refer the 2013 report (SR5) of IPCC on factors bearing an impact on climate of earth including solar irradiance. This is vis-a-vis other factors raising or decreasing the temperatures of the atmosphere and in turn leading to corresponding changes. It's a rich empirical data report. In simple layman terms, don't shoot off such comments sir. Greenhouse gas emissions and other anthropogenic factors have way greater impact than a literally negligible impact solar cycles and irradiance has on climate change consequently such disasters. So all those simple laymen here who are saying in their daily language that concretization, over construction, and pollution is a major cause of this calamity, are, guess what?.............RIGHT!!

The damage is due to building dams. Solar cycle 25 has yet to cast solar flares towards earth. The floods were created by opening of the dams to wash away evidence in wuhan. This is a manmade catastrophe to cover up the biggest scam in human history aka carola plandemic. Sorry for all victims on earth but open your eyes, you are being fooled.

When parts of the world was lockdown, air pollution was so low that some places that aren’t normally visible were. The canals in Venice Italy became clear and aquatic life was able to swim freely. It’s coming to a point where the neglect on our planet is starting to get more apparent and it might be too late to do anything about it.

_"... the neglect on our planet ..."_ What does that mean? What's the relevance? Are you blaming people for this flood? Who?
