Personally I have love Azuras song, however I understand your plight, its overused in Fates and Azura is just a plot device. You would think that Azura is a singer she would know more songs, but nope.

fates' cast is the biggest hit or miss cast in the series. since everyone is written so one noted and poorly, its much easier to hate the characters bc there's literally no depth to them other than that one personality trait. Azama's probably my most hated character because god. I hate his smug face, his smug voice, and all his supports because he's literally just verbally abusive and insensitive to everyone. plus he stole brock's look and that is an unforgivable crime.

Because fates has a ton of characters I really love like Arthur, Kaze, Kagero, Leo, Elise, Shigure, Soleil, etc.; but man it can be hard to describe why I like them because fates writing is that bad. And then there’s characters that just… don’t have character..? Like Hinoka… I really wanted to like Hinoka but she adds absolutely nothing to the plot except saying “Nohrian Scum.”

you dont put Azama in the list is astonishing to me, but I agree to a lot of your opinion on fates, like I cant stand the nohrian royal except Elise and Leo, bc they are kinda normal and have a brain Peri I just dont understand why having a serial killer that do t feel anything and killed innocent servants of her house

Personally I really like Makalov, I like a genuinely flawed character amongst the constant casts of neutral to perfect characters in all these games

(incoming massive comment!) Severa: Generally I like blunt, sarcastic and snarky characters (spoiler alert: I am a big Jakob fan! 🌟,) but I find Severa incredibly bratty and unpleasant in her supports, and the few gentler moments she has don’t redeem her. Astram: Who? Was he one of the recruits in Shadow Dragon who had a single-digit number of lines? Raigh: I summon him all the time in Heroes when trying for other characters, but I don’t have any real opinion about him. Xavier: Who? No opinion. I’m not sure if this map sounds fun or torturous. I like “rescue mission” maps, but hate maps with lots of walls and corridors. Those Who Slither in the Dark: I like the concept of them more than the execution. Kronya has a cool design, but beyond that, I don’t care about them. Celica: She really grew on me throughout Shadows of Valentia, and now she’s my favorite character from that game behind Faye, Kliff and maybe Berkut. She’s high on my lord tier list, though not a favorite. I like her as a unit and also like how different her personality is from most RPG protagonists, whereas Alm is much less memorable. Makalov: I agree with everything you said about him, and I’d be hard-pressed to find someone who disagrees. He’s probably one of the most hated characters in the series. I felt so bad for Marcia and Astrid, especially in Radiant Dawn. Muspell: 9:14 sums up how I feel about him. He’s like a FEH fan character designed by a middle schooler. His design and art are so ugly, and I can’t take his angry evil teenager personality seriously. Barry: I have no real interest in this spinoff, so I don’t care about the cast. I overall LOVE the Fates cast and Fates in general, so I am bound to disagree here. Setsuna: I actually agree with your criticisms here, but for me she’s a case like Arthur and Effie where there are interesting aspects to her character, but her supports focus on the WRONG aspects. I liked her considerably more after learning that she falls in so many traps due to being so laidback since she never had anything to worry about in life. This makes for a very interesting contrast in her support with Niles, and a difference in culture/outlook between Nohr and Hoshido. Hinata and Hana: Surprisingly, I agree again. I like Hana’s design and like her as a unit, but otherwise I don’t get the appeal of these two. I find their personalities grating. Mozu: Mozu is a sweetie. I’ve heard she can be made into an amazing unit, but I’ve never bothered since I already have so many better units at my disposal. Niles: For me he falls into the same category as Edelgard and Takumi: he has a profoundly unlikeable personality, but is an interesting and well-written enough character that I can’t fully hate him. Hayato: He’s underrated and very overhated. After playing Birthright and seeing a good number of his supports, Hayto has really grown on me. He’s in the upper third of the cast for me as a character and a unit. Subaki: Another underrated/overhated character. Between him and Cordelia, I prefer Cordelia, but Subaki has a distinctly different personality, mannerisms and reasons for his preoccupation with perfection. Siegbert: Give Siegbert a chance. He’s really endearing, and of my favorite second-gen characters. I’m jealous because (at this time) I haven’t summoned him. Kana: I’m in a minority here, but I prefer male Kana to female Kana (his supports and design are better) and prefer both to Morgan. Nina: I don’t hate her, but her personality and “hobbies” rub me the wrong way. Reina: I love Reina. Second to Shura, she’s my favorite “avatarsexual.” She reminds me a little of Petrine from Path of Radiance (they’re both delightfully twisted,) she has a striking design and she’s such a fun unit to use (Kinshi Knight is one of my all-time favorite FE classes.) Azura: I absolutely love Azura. I don’t like how she was handled at the ends of Birthright and Conquest, but overall enjoyed almost everything about her character: her voice, her design, her supports, being a more useful dancer than Olivia… Flora & Rainbow Sage: Surprisingly, I agree. I want to like Flora, but she makes so many irrational decisions in all the storylines that I just can’t sympathize with her. Xander: I really like Xander, and I never understood the “story Xander/support Xander” split some people have. While I love Elise, honestly it was Elise’s fault that she died. Plot-induced stupidity forced her to charge in between Xander and Corrin while they were wielding swords. Xander, from his perspective, was just defending his country against traitors and invaders. Peri: You (and many others) dislike Peri because she’s a bratty and violent sociopath with the mentality of a child. I LIKE Peri because she’s a bratty and violent sociopath with the mentality of a child. I was pleasantly surprised by some of her supports (though she has some duds, too.) Jakob: I laughed here. Why? I’d think I’d exceed the maximum comment length if I tried to explain here. He gets a lot of flak for being “rude”, but his criticisms of others are usually valid, and at the very least he raises good points. And his banter in his supports is downright hilarious. I also LOVE Corrin (and Corrin x Jakob) so I find his devotion to Corrin extremely appealing. I’ll happily further extol the virtues of Jakob, but this comment is gargantuan as it. If anyone wants to know more, I’ll happily post a (very long) response on my Tumblr and link to it in a reply. Camilla: Camilla and Jakob tie as my favorite characters in the series, and I like them for such different reasons that it’s hard to pick one over the other. I’d be genuinely curious to see a “favorite Fire Emblem characters” video and see how many characters on that list I would dislike. I find it interesting you like Tharja, because I think she’s FAR more possessive and obsessive than Camilla ever is…and I like Tharja for it too.

I really appreciate comments like these ngl, it's pretty funny despite how we aknowledge a character to be a certain way we can still have different opinions about them simply because of our tastes I've been thinking that maybe someday I should talk about the best characters of each game, BUT we gotta wait and see. Great video. Personally, I think Hinoka is the worst non-Garon/Corrin character in fates. Yes, even worse than Camilla. Why? Well because she does ABSOLUTELY NOTHING! If you removed her from the story NOTHING would change in ANY of the three routes. At least Camilla does something and is a good unit. Hinoka is a terrible unit in both birthright and revelations. Hell, SAKURA does more for Hoshido than fucking Hinoka does. Also, I expected to see Takumi on this list because Severa (who I don't agree with being on here) was on here, but I'm glad to see he wasn't. Because he's honest to god my favorite fates character.

In my opinion the worst character/dad in fire emblem is sombron, he’s cruel and a heartless killer (I know that he is the feel dragon and all too but still) plus it’s explained that he had a wife and lots of children, to which he never cared about and saw them as pawns in his pawns in his plan, and the fact that he killed some of them if they failed is bad, but the fact that he is Veyle and Alears father makes it worst, I know it’s apart of the story but that doesn’t stop him from being the worst, heck even Grime is better then him, because at least Grima didn’t kill Morgan (Robins Child) in the story of awakening

In defense of: -----Reina: You made it sound as if Reina is not kind and mature, and that she is just bloodthirsty. In reality, she is both. Sure, on the battlefield, against her enemies, she loves combat and is shameless in how she relishes it. Whether or not one likes that aspect or not is up to the individual. It is important to point out that she only loves violence against the enemies, and enemies only. She doesn't pull a Peri and causes misery to allies. Outside of the battlefield, she is genuinely kind and caring. She helps everyone, focuses on chores, and shows no malice towards anyone. But at the same time, she is very self-conscious not just about how she struggles with domestic work, but the burdening feeling of betraying her parents. Reina's parents wanted her to become a simple housewife, thinking it was the best for her, but Reina's love for combat lead her down a different path, much to her parent's misery. "I can't cook, I can't clean, and I can only just barely wash my own clothes. I do my very best, but I'm starting to think I should just leave the work to others. Much as I'd like to continue, to honor my parents, I should recognize my limits. Maybe it's time to put this old apron to rest". She is not solely a battle-crazed woman. -----Mozu (and a bit of Jakob): If one wishes to use Mozu, I HIGHLY recommend reclassing her into an archer. She not only becomes good but actually excels in CQ. Archers and bows are actually rock-solid in CQ, they deal a lot of damage and are a green weapon type, very useful against the swats of lance/dagger users in CQ. The three skills of note, quick draw, Certain blow, and Bowfaire only amplify Mozus's effectiveness at dishing out damage. I used her 3 times, even on Lunatic mode, and she was indispensable. As for her character, she is one of Fates' best. A hard-working and sweet girl who is heavenly implied to suffer from PTSD, as seen from her C-support with Jakob. Mozu: *sob* Jakob: Mozu? Are you all right? Mozu: Y-yes. I'm fine. I just had a dream about my hometown. Before the Faceless came. I saw them all. I talked to them. My family, my friends, all the townspeople. Then I woke up. And it's like they were taken from me a second time... WHY?! Why did it have to happen to them? What did any of them DO?! Jakob: Mozu...I'm sorry. But crying won't bring them back. Mozu: I know that, I do, but- *sob I...I can't help it... Jakob: Hm. In that case...I suppose you should cry as long as you need. One day, you will find you have been emptied of tears. And on that day, you'll have the strength to move on. But no sooner. But he is a very interesting character. He is shown to have an extreme inferiority complex by being Xander's son. He constantly wishes to prove how good of a future king he is. But not in a snobby way. He shows no hesitation in getting his hands dirty and fighting on the front lines; In his paralogue, he held off the Vallite army behind his father's back. He wishes to understand all the citizens of Nohr, regardless of economic status, as seen in his Velouria support. He despises the idea of soldiers being cannon fodder and has no hesitation in being on the front lines if it means protecting his soldiers, as seen in his Ignatius support. He is an all-around good character. While I have other disagreements with some of your choices, these three characters were the ones who I felt the most compelled to defend and add something new to the conversation.

You make really valid points ngl and most of this stuff is really new to me, guess because of Fates being Fates it's super hard to find the ACTUAL good stuff, first impressions are important especially in these games with huge casts of characters so I was mostly exposed to the ugliest sides

@@TheGameShelf No. It is relatively easy to find the good stuff. You just talked about these characters without knowing even a lick of them, intentionally or not. Reina just has one support, and you could not even look at the singular one to realize how misinformed you where.

All right, the major takeaway from this is that bad person doesn't equal bad character. That goes for Severa, Jakob, Reina, Camilla and Niles. Hayato doesn't act superior outside of his join chapter. With Subaki and Hana it's a bit oversimplified, but i get it since their supports with Corrin are some of the worst in the game. Hinata in Fates is one of the more entertaining characters, in Heroes... yeah i can see the hate there. Thing with Azura is that her song is like 6 minutes long and yet you never hear most of it until the endgame, which is bizarre choice to make when she could've sing different snippets of it and hearing it in full by the end would be really cool. Such wasted opportunity. With Mozu and Xavier the hate seems to be directed to them as units, not characters. I do agree with the rest though and if you hate Siegbert without playing his paralogue then he would get his own dedicated section if you did, cause that paralogue is the most annoying chapter in all 3DS FE games - rout map with infinite void curse reinforcements and lots of terrain slowing your units down was a sadistic idea. Especially since you don't get anything for in this chapter besides partner seal and vulnerary. And even that aside Siegbert himself just isn't interesting (like most of Fates 2nd gen). I hate most Camus archetype characters, because they're some of the dumbest in their respective games. My personal least favourite character in FE is propably Faye - she makes Peri look Shakespearean in comparison.

I unironically love Jacob. I may have trash taste but I got a soft spot for the loyal friend characters. He can be a total prick though.

So Severa and Jakob are as a person not that great to put it mildly. Now i want to see their supports and how they probably insult each other

I don’t think the Rainbow Sage was meant to stay around past their debut chapter.

I think the most issues I have with characters are in Fire Emblem New Mystery, because there is A LOT of filler characters like Roberto, Belf, Reiden, Frost.... That HUGE cast full of cavalry units it's so forgettable and you don't focus on interesting characters like Yuliya, Jubello, Sirius, Catria, Palla, Est, Ogma, Merric, Minerva, Michalis, Shiida or Marth so it's a big miss opportunity that causes that New Mystery Characters are not that popular or add more content to know better Maria, Elice or Nyna because I think are super interesting characters. And Kris sucks, the worst avatar ever, so basic conversations and personality, but I think his relation with Katarina it's good [I consider Katarina as a good character]. Another character that I don't understand so much is Aelfric from three houses, the worst of the dlc and sooo boring, but truly and I don't hate any character

as the resident jakob fan uhh, his design is nice err, i like butlers, butlers are fun uhhhhhhhhhh, his one-liners in special procs from heroes are pretty, good that's it everything else sucks

I really like alfonse (it’s random) but like his lore in feh he was awesome! I’d say my three favourites are alfonse, Lucina and byleth! They are pretty cool!

THing with Muspell is that he kinda looks like Raihan from pokemon sword and shield, especially in his flame alt damaged art

NICE Oh God Shattering Star is phenomenal, but listening dubstep in Fire Emblem certainly caught me more off-guard

The first fire emblem warriors did redeem some of the bad character at least, liked the supports there. Also i was not a fan of the cast, but i like the supports despite that, and it is one of my favorite games

I really dont know what to say about the Musspell section. From a design standpoint, He's by far my favorite OC in FEH. The art itself is impressive on a technical standpoint, and while he doesnt fit Fire Emblem's aesthetic, its hard for there to be any immersion design-wise in Heroes either, given all of the different seasonals. He definitely the unit with the most unique design, for better or for worse. As for his personality, it is on the lower end of the spectrum. But there's one key thing that makes me like it (or not mind it as much), and that is how is interactions with Nifl showcase both of their flaws. The two of them used Fjorm and Laegjarn solely as tools to kill each other. They arent villains like Embla, nor enigmatic characters that are working behind the scenes. Theyre petty assholes that dont really care for their people, and in Musspell's case, doesnt even care enough to be a tyrant. I dont know what about this is funny to me, but it is. Besides Legendary Roy, Musspell is the first character in FEH that when I saw him, I immediately wanted to have him. Besides, never said he was a good character, just that I like him. Im already a person who isnt as much of a fan of the overall FE aesthetic to begin with, and I tend to gravitate towards the more anime aspects of it (an example is that I tend to like mounted units a lot less than infantry and armors, which sucks for me because of how much better they have the capacity of being gameplay-wise). Point is, I like the funny edgelord dragon, but I respect your opinion. Im also probably gonna leave smaller replies for the other entries I want to comment on, because I've already left the equivalent of a forth grade essay.

Honestly, it feel like both Xander and Azura suffer a lot from the horrible story from Fates as they just got painted in a horrible light because honestly if you ignore that, both of their supports are amazing, heck Azura should have honestly been the main character as her backstory is generally amazing but nah, we have to force in the MC with a bland personality which is Corrin...and strangely, the Manga managed to fix Corrin...alongside Warriors but overall yea, in Fates Corrin Sucks. Also while in my opinion, Azura's song is a masterpiece...holy shit was it overused like seriously IS? It is a good song that ties in Fates 'story' but yea it was way overused to the put of being annoying which is a shame because is an objective a good song but IS just keeps shoving it into out throats.

Great vidéo ! :) I did have own opinion about one of this characters (but not all of them see i don't play at any fire emblem or just i dont know enought about what character, so...let's go :3 Severa : i did growning to hate her, especially because of her Tsundere personality but at first, that was ok in Awakening but when it's on Fates and see the exact-same thing, i king of fed up (and that's not help even more see others characters with one-note background or o-so-anime-tropesque) and...i was even in limit of dislike Mythra from Xeno 2 because of Tsun-dere bullshit but after having played (and finished) Xeno 2, i kind of like her :) Severa ? OK in Awakening but i'm not for Fates (also, i hate the fact we change her name to Selena) Niles :...TBH, I dunno why there's fans did like him :/ to me, it's just a character or IS decide to put "unique" personality and some background (also he's in FE Warriors as a DLC character, sharing the SAME animation/attack as for Takumi and so on) Hayato : I'm not a fan of this character too. i really like (or love if i can say it ^///^) Ricken because yeah, he's look like a child (and some others characters, including Robin, making fun of him during dialogs) but he's so adorable and have some good personality

Yeah didnt see much point in doing Corrin again since I already summed up my feelings as best as possible (Besides it's a good incentive to move people to the Protagonist Tier List video lol) If I ever have to rant about them it would be if I ever make a whole Fates video or a whole video dedicated to them

Xander is such a mess, that I'm still unsure what is actually canon of Xander, because he suffered a lot because the localization made a lot of his interactions so inconsistent.

Honestly, all writing for Fates should be discarded and the came should be played like advance wars where you use the units to achieve victory since the gameplay is very good. Everyone understands that Fates has awful writing, so I'm a little surprised to see Niles on the list since he does actually have nuance. And in regards to Peri, Niles and Jacob...Nohr is a militaristic country that values strength. Hence why Hans and Iago are part of it. All three of Niles, Peri and Jacob are useful for the talents they bring to the battlefield. I do think it torpedoes Xander's character a bit to have Peri as a retainer. Personally, if Charlotte, another bad person but powerful warrior, and Peri's roles were reversed, that would make more sense to me. Xander seeing Charlotte's drive to get ahead and rewarding that with money makes perfect story-gameplay integration especially since it's already a popular support and works very well for both characters. Especially as Xander would learn about Charlotte's reason for being a gold digger to begin with. And that would leave Peri as a border guard, not bound to a royal, and would give "better excuse" to her sadistic bloodlust since it would almost be required being a border guard and seeing constant skirmishes. I just feel like Fates needed another few months or so to fully bake in the oven if obvious things like this were overlooked. Not excusing Peri, because she's the worst. Pepsi-chan may have two toned hair, but Peri was poorly designed in every aspect far before that controversy.

I'm glad you finally made this video. It's funny because I hate Shitburt for the same reason. I have pulled him so much, along with Nina and I hate them both. I agree with you on all these characters, I was actually hoping to find one character that you hated that I liked but this video was a fun time.

Man I agree so much with the Fates segment! I remember playing it back when it just came out and literally had problems deciding on who I should marry because almost none of the characters appealed to me in the slightest

@@Slut4Nagito well Marth is just wet cardboard. and Alm is... eh.... i just can't stand Alm and Celica, their dynamic is cringy. they knew each other for a week as little kids and automatically know they were going to be together for ever. Alm is the least offensive though, cause he's just kinda there, but his association to Celica just makes him ugh... lol, i just can't stand the dumb bish, lol.

@@takarahayashi4124 Marth is pretty bland but he is the first FE protagonist. Roy has no excuse being so bland after having good protagonists like Sigurd and Leif predate him. Alm is pretty cool in gaiden being a nice foil to Celica’s stupidity, but Echoes kinda goes overboard by making him too perfect. Still a decent protagonist. I’m just shocked how they’re your top 3 worst when Fates entire cast exist😭

@@Slut4Nagito As far as fates go, I honestly don't have any issues with 'em as a whole. At the very least we know a lot about them as people in comparison to older games (mainly due to the fact that the older games were so limited). like we know their likes, dislikes, hobbies, pasts and traumas, etc. Like even if you hate a Fates character you can probably recall stuff about them as if they're people. If we go back to the older games, we simply don't know much. just pulling a random character... what does Boyd do other than being a meat head?
