I played through Waw dozens of times before getting Bo1 when I realized what was Dimitri’s fate it felt like a kick in the balls and made me want to kill Dragovich even more.

same actually i played waw since i was 7 (or smtn like that), but i finally played bo1 when i was 13 and it hurt

Even if Shephards betrayal was disheartening enough, this one felt more impactful. Dimitri earned his victory after planting the flag during WAW, but to have his life brutally taken away by Nova 6 gas as it slowly tears at his body is much more difficult to watch than seeing Ghost and Roach be executed and burned.

It’s sad because that Dimitri didn’t deserve to die because how much he went through, it sucks where fate takes us in life Also, it’s crazy because Dimitri has the same name as my uncle my dads brother, and he looks and sounds like him too He at least look like him back in his younger days, but we are not Russian we are Greek, and Dimitri is a common name in Greece as well

Made me realized that Dimitri Patrenko is the 1st protagonist to die and even in others cod there others protagonist that die roach, allen and mason if u shoot him by choice. But man Dimitri hit hard for me one of the best character in cod history.

I'd argue on Soap's death. Like Dimitry, we played with Soap through a whole game. His hardships were our own. True, Dimitry's death was more brutal, Soap did not have the luxury of dieing quickly by bullet.

@jekabsojarsulskis9740 The thing is, it's not just about how far both characters have gone and their accomplishments. It's mostly about how devastating the character's demise is. Soap died with hope and got his comfort before his last moment. Dimitri got killed by his own people. He died with a scar of betrayal and suffocated to death while begging for his friend's help. While I still agree that Soap's death is terrible and all. His death is still a lot more merciful compared to Dimitri's. At least, that's how I feel

Jesus watching this just made me remember how good of a story and campaign Black Ops 1 has. The best for me

After playing both waw and bo1 I'm surprised everyone forgotten Dimitri Patrenko's Betrayal... It still stings my heart till this day, but everyone forgotten this huge betrayal stings my heart further.

When Viktor said "Once again, you cheat death." It looked the same as when Mason was hallucinating and thought Viktor helped him up after woods tackled one of the villains with a live grenade

I finished Black Ops 1 a few days ago. I totally agree that Dimitri Petrenko never should have died like that. I was completely shocked and in tears seeing a Soviet soldier like him get exposed to Nova 6. Fortunately the revenge for his agonizing death was taken by the most iconic American duo of all time in COD history, MASON-WOODS (Mason kills Steiner and Dragovich in BO1, Woods kills Kravchenko in BO2).

Project Nova is probably my favourite CoD campaign mission of all time

You know what’s crazy? When call of duty gets their characters right, they can feel like real people. And real losses when they are killed. Ghost, Soap, Dimitri, and for some, this includes Logan from COD Ghosts. They’re capable of amazing stories that are not soon to forget, but they focus on the money instead.

Damm as a little kid I played with MW2 & MW3 & BO1 all the TIME when I didn't understand English. But now 😔 realising that all of us in the did what WE thinked what was right, making Shepherd into a villain who lost his man and Activision made THIS SHIT after COD:WWll.

When I was a small kid I did not have any gaming device and I had to watch the walkthroughs of others. One of the first of this that I saw was Waw. I always liked Reznov but for me Dmitry was always the true hero. The missions with him were so epic and I loved them. And later when I finished Waw I stumbled upon a vid called Dmitry Petrenko's death. I watched it. I did not know which game was it from but it felt truly terrible. My favourite CoD character just killed by a rouge going self interested Soviet commander Dragovich. Fast forward a couple years I am now a little bit more grown up but is still did not forget and will never forget what happend to him in Black Ops 1. In honor of him I adopted the name Dimitri as a nickname among my friends and others and I set him as a wallpaper on my phone and profile picture on some of my apps so I will never forget him.
