@@scarecrww yeah, the singer (who, fittingly enough went by the stage name Dead) did a Kurt Cobain and when one of the other members found him, they took a picture of it and used it on a self-released bootleg of some of their live recordings. Then a few years later one of the surviving members of the band kiIIed another member of the band and went to prison. But they're Norwegian so he served 15 years and kept making music while in prison, releasing it under the name Burzum. There's a biopic about the band called "Lords of Chaos"

God, the Beatles' infamous Butcher Cover for Yesterday And Today. Fun fact, audiences back in the day found that delightful family photo of the Beatles having just slaughtered a dozen infants horrifying, for some reason. The publisher hastily pasted a new cover over their already printed stock featuring Paul sitting in a suitcase which the other guys are sitting on/around. If you can find an original printing of the album with the butcher cover underneath the suitcase cover, it's worth a *lot* of money.

The producers apparently wanted the one with Paul in the suitcase to be the main cover at first. But the band apparently thought it looked too boring. So they took one of the photos they got from some experimental photographer the band had a photo shoot with and used that.

8:14 This one pisses me off because it originally had a much simpler cover that was a CD in white packaging. I know people hated that it was installed on their iphones by default, understandably-but because it was I listened to it and liked it, and I liked that original cover much more. And having this weird cover certainly didn’t helping people’s annoyance with it being installed automatically… it sucks because I think the album is actually pretty good, but because of the Apple situation people hate it even if they haven’t listened to it :/

I think that Weezer's Blue Album has a perfect album cover. The album purposely encapsulates what it's about. It's an album for nerds, outcasts, young people, but really, just any average person. You look at that cover and see these four young guys, and it all just makes sense. These are your typical four young men, and they've made a masterpiece that transcends all of that.

Weezer's debut album cover is actually an homage to the 1980 album "Crazy Rhythms" by The Feelies which was an early alternative rock album that had widespread influence during the 80s and 90s Edit: This has been corrected, the actual inspiration was a 1981 Beach Boys compilation album cover.

"Bridge Over Troubled Water" is good. Yes, my dad is almost 64, but he shared it with me when I was a kid. I'd recommend listening to Simon and Garfunkel.

Swamp Dogg actually got his name before Snoop Dogg, so it’s entirely possible Snoop was ripping off Swamp dogg with no one knowing

The Dance of Death one has an interesting story behind it, they hired an artist to make the cover and he showed the band an unfinished version of it, but they liked that so much they used it on the album instead of waiting for the guy to finish

I found out today that the artist, whose name is Dave Patchett, for that album got screwed over really hard, because people will joke around that it looks like an amateur thesis project, but he has a massive portfolio of album artwork that looks absolutely stunning (albeit surreal). My case in point is Cathedral's Forest of Equilibrium, which he did the album art for.

i remember i searched up "weird album covers" once and one of them was just a shotgun suicide photo. no joke actual gore

The thing I really hate about the Chocolate Starfish and the Hotdog Flavored Water album cover is that Limp Bizkit was at least capable of making a neat looking album cover. Like, Significant Other is actually decently cool looking, but after that they decided they just wanted to make everyone physically gag at their new album cover.

That U2 album still automatically plays sometimes on my iPad, and I will hear It coming out my earphones when I least expect it. It’s truly a curse.

Some weird or awkward album covers that come to mind for me are Van Morrison’s His Band and the Street Choir (that one just looks awkward but man it’s a good album), John Cougar Mellencamp’s Uh-HUH! (Something about it makes me so uncomfortable and it just does not fit the vibe of his music), AC/DC’s Powerage (by far their best album and worst album cover, it’s a shame really) and most greatest hits covers save from a certain few Don’t ask me about best album covers though cause we’d be here for an awfully long time
