The combo of heavy body and no oil in the shocks works amazingly well in creating a good scale look

I have it and I am very happy with this purchase. With few mods I turned it to a real crawler : replaced the original wheels and tires with softer and bigger ones, increased the overall weight and the center of gravity to improve the climbing abilities and now it is a real tank and goes everywhere.

Dude it’s too bad that’s not officially licensed because the detail on that thing is epic! It surprised me how good it could crawl as well! And the suspension definitely looks realistic, just saw the WD video where he took it to the dunes and the suspension on his real one looked very similar

Regarding the friction shocks, I agree that the small scale stuff including 1/18th works well: Near as dammit the right amount of bounce over the terrain. Hope the holiday went well!

Maaaaan!!!!!!! I saw that G Wagon video as well. He has another one that just came out where he drove it into a mud pool.. Mouth was wide open in awe…lol &&& .. he has this offloading technique that is just insane when he takes it off the trailer…..lolll.. 😮😮😮😮😮 .... he really does have GOBS of money, you can tell with his disposition and temperament ..lol. Very entertaining.. and I would need only maybe a quarter of his net worth ….lol. But I loved Abu Dhabi.. stayed just outside of Dubai city and literally drove to Abu Dhabi for a month while my wife and I were doing invetro back in 2012. .. looks a lot more developed since then… Anyway.. enjoy UAE Phil, and great vid!

looks large for 1/24 but.. really nice looking, especially lit up in darkness. excellent detail, naturally top heavy being metal body, nice suspension too. if you can find good dampers for it that'll help some.

it's fine i put monster truck wheels on a df02 tamiya - rising storm, but its really slow, i dont understand the mechanics, i dont want to bash it, its 12T brushed motor, should be decent speed, not sure

Sweet little rig pinecone model have been stepping up their crawler game I have the sg 2801 great little rig but it’s more of a trail truck than crawler

Yeah the prices on ALI express and Banggood have gone through the roof recently. The RGT Pioneer is now $400 CDN + $200 shipping, and the HG P407 used to be $300 + $40 Shipping it's now $300 shipping (approx). In many cases, banggod will advertise a low price but "does not ship to Canada".

The body weight makes this look a lot more scale over bumps. Add some oil filled dampers and it’d probably be really nice

One more thing I believe they have an indoor ski resort there, if you wish to cool off.

@@TomleyRC owning an RC version of the G320 Cabrio and G500 from Tamiya is enough for me too. Overpriced in full size, especially as they drive from gas station to gas station with those V8s (no diesel here).

What size are the wheels? Got one on the way, want to see what will fit so I can order some

@@TomleyRC I was out in 2017 for the GP, EXPENSIVE!!! £10 for a pint! My best friends brother works out there so at least accommodation was cheep. Strange place but worth a visit. And like you said G wagons everywhere.

My Father In-law works out there, although this time we stayed in the Sheraton, just round the corner from his apartment. 👍
