Tallest Man in History - Robert Wadlow 8ft11". Born in 1918, Robert is still to this day known as the tallest person in medical history. When the Pathe cameras went to film him in 1935, he was a mere 8′ 1 1/2″. When they returned the next year, he was 8ft4″. By the time of his death at just aged 22, he had grown to 8ft11''. In this clip, he is surrounded by his family and even though his father was 6ft, none of them stand much above his waist. Video is from 1936.
BRITISH PATHÉ'S STORY Before television, people came to movie theatres to watch the news. British Pathé was at the forefront of cinematic journalism, blending information with entertainment to popular effect. Over the course of a century, it documented everything from major armed conflicts and seismic political crises to the curious hobbies and eccentric lives of ordinary people. If it happened, British Pathé filmed it.
Now considered to be the finest newsreel archive in the world, British Pathé is a treasure trove of 85,000 films unrivalled in their historical and cultural significance.
British Pathé also represents the Reuters historical collection, which includes more than 136,000 items from the news agencies Gaumont Graphic (1910-1932), Empire News Bulletin (1926-1930), British Paramount (1931-1957), and Gaumont British (1934-1959), as well as Visnews content from 1957 to the end of 1984. What interests me most about Robert is that he was almost perfectly in proportion. Yes he had huge hands and feet but they were aligned with the rest of him. Many people with pituitary tumors, Marfan syndrome etc., display disproportionately long limbs, facial features and/or other body parts. Robert looked exactly like a regular man, just an extra third in size all over.

Yes, there is no telling how much taller he would have grown, had he not been killed by the infection. Thing is, he likely would have died soon anyway, due to his heart's continued growing (which kills most afflicted with Acromegaly at a young age, when no treatment of the tumor is attempted). Had he lived say as long as Andre the Giant (46 years old), he may have reached well over 10 feet tall, if his organs had not failed first. I have Acromegaly, and it sucks! Got it as an adult, so my head, lower jaw, hands and feet are freakishly large. All my best to all afflicted with this insidious disease.

+kingkhanmsk1 Not a genetic mutation, but a tumour on his pituitary gland in the brain, the area which sends out growth hormones and make people grow taller/more mature in teenage years. The tumour cause the pituitary gland to increase in size, sending out massive amount of growth hormones throughout the body. This causes an abnormal and fast growth rate in young children who are not fully matured, and they grow to incredible heights. This condition is called "Acromegalic gigantism". When the condition occurs in an allready matured person, the condition is simply known as "Acromegaly", and cause hands, feet, browridge, cheeks, chin to grow larger. In the end, and untreated, it is a very dangerous disease since also the organs get enlarged. Most people with the condition don't tend to live to an old age, and during Roberts lifetime it wasn't very safe to surgically remove the tumour, so they let it be which made Robert grow even taller by every day. Today, if the condition is discovered, it is often possible to remove the tumour but the condition could still re-occur.

Interesting theory Chris, particularly about the bigger beds. We all know when you keep Goldfish in a small bowl they stay very small. Yet when you put them in a big pond like they do in Japan they grow to about a foot (30cm) long. Genetics of course plays a large part, like Sudanese are very tall yet live in a impoverished area. Islanders are big in every way yet may eat only fruits and fish.

The only guy in history who probably(unconfirmed though) was taller, was Feodor Makhnov, whose height had been advertised as 9'3" at his shows. Contrary to Robert Wadlow, Feodor was very strong. Both Robert and Feodor were taller than Space Marines(7'0'' - 7'6''), and even Primaris Space Marines(8'6" averagely). Primarchs(~10') and Emperor of Mankind(12' - 14') are considerably taller though.
