The Ikonta’s are such great cameras as well. Those are what started my addiction to folders haha

@@ExpiredBren They are great cameras. I found my grandfathers Kodak Vigilant Jr. (620) when I was a teenager. The first folder I bought was a Zeiss 520/2.

Wonderful shots, an awesome camera too! It good to have a light weight camera when traveling. 🎉

Nice vid and work! I did comment on one of your IG Perko posts long ago 😂 took me a bit to mentally attach the personas on both platforms. Life sent me the way of Zeiss Ikon with a Nettar and then a Super Ikonta IV and the Perkeos have been on my crosshairs but never managed to get any. For me, the benchmarking point to compare folders are the features: lens (Tessar type or Cooke Triplet), VR-RF, auto advance/red window and shutters. My first medium format and darling is a Fuji 6x9 which spoiled me with its modern sharp lens. To compare, one needs to stop down the folder lenses (bar camera condition w/ alignment) and past f8-11 it's nice. In any case, a more vintage rendering that is nice! I incorporated the folders as "B" cameras and for variation, as I have no interchangeable back camera. Back in 1956 one of these was "the family camera" and well delivered.

The Perkeo has served as a great B camera to mix in with my Pentax 67. Although most of my photos from the Dolomites were handheld, I usually have a quick release plate attached so I can shoot with it stopped down on the same tripod as my P67.

I've used a couple of different folding cameras over the years, but I've never heard of these cameras before. That Color Skopar lenses though, it's amazing. All your color images had great contrast. Honestly I'm kinda interested in picking one up for some travel photography, especially with the accessory rangefinder. Thank you for making this video!

It’s truly a great camera for traveling! If anything it serves as a great secondary for b&w film (if you happen to be shooting color neg. in your primary).

That was a nicely put together presentation. You have discovered the Rollei 35 of the medium format 120 world. Like a Rollei 35, its ergonomics require a go slow approach. Yet, its small size belies its capabilities in the field.

The Rollei 35 and Perkeo make for a great comparison! I happen to have a Rollei 35 SE loaded in my hiking backpack with my Pentax 67 at all times

I totally agree with your review of this camera. The only thing really lacking is a more accurate viewfinder, looking through a tiny finder can be very frustrating when framing is critical. However for the quality of image you can achieve it’s an excellent compromise.

When I was shooting in the forest I had to deal with some very tight compositions, and not having the vertical accuracy in particular tended to be frustrating

these dolomites shots on 6x6 are amazing man. we need to figure out how to go on an encore trip this year.

Beautiful images especially from such a small transportable camera. Very tempted to give one a try. I’m still breaking in my Konica Auto S and first results were better than expected. Maybe the Perkeo I or II is next. Very well done and thanks for sharing!

Really cool "review" and beautiful photo's. Thanks for this. I have one question. I'm not so big in the analogue techniques etc. but how much afterwork has been done on these photo's. Or is it just developing and that's it?

Besides dust removal most of the work that I did with this negatives was through the negative conversion program Negative Lab Pro

Go easy on yourself for the overlapped rolls. Every mistake possible, at least once.

I couldn’t find a name on it, and it had come with a SLR that I bought a while ago. My favorite cable release is the Gepe PVC Pro

The talking head parts were captured with my BMPCC4K while the rest was with my iPhone
