For some time in 2019, Swiss used the B777 on some of the Geneva-Zurich flights, usually about 40 minutes. But since COVID this service has been reduced to a minimum with only a few A320 a day and the remainder of feeder traffic transferred to train travel, about 3hrs from Geneva to Zurich airport.

MIA-ATL on aTWA L-1011 back in the late 90’s. I was so stoked to be on that bird! Seating 2-5-2, I was on the port side of the 5. The latch on the closet door behind me was wonky and it kept swinging open, only to be re-closed over and over by the flight attendants. What’s so special about that? Glad you asked. Back in the day, short-haul domestic service always meant a pack of Biscoff, and the airlines were the only place they could be found. Thanks to the wonky latch, I happen to notice that was where the Biscoff were stored, and I nicked a complimentary sleeve of Biscoff the next time that door flew open. They lasted a full month after I returned home. I was quite pleased with the haul!

Probably the shortest ever Airbus A340-500 flight (scheduled commercial) must have been the one done by CS-TFX of Hi-Fly, doing an ACMI for Azores Airlines, between Santa Maria SMA and Ponta Delgada PDL, about 15 to 20 minutes flight time, depending on runways in use. I wasn't aboard, only flew on the next leg (PDL to Lisbon LIS). No bookable seats between SMA and PDL, flight was a circular one: LIS-SMA-PDL-LIS. I believe sometimes Azores Airlines used their A310s on this route too.

I think the shortest I've ever been on was, once again, TUI Fly Netherlands from Orlando to Miami. My dad, who used to work as a mechanic for TUI Fly Netherlands, would do the Dutch Antilles routes several times a year, especially in the summer. He would be training the ground crew in the summer, so they could handle the winter. So he would be there for 2-3 times a summer for 2-3 weeks and he would be hopping the islands. Always love a beach foto when you're in school :/

China Eastern when doing reposition mission between SHA-PVG(ZSSS-ZSPD), 24Nm apart, very occasionally sell ticket to public (not online, but if you are lucky you can get one in the airport). Sometimes it's on a A340,330 or 777 It's quite helpful when you just arrive from domestic route on SHA and need to transfer abroad by PVG, it'll took about 1 hour from SHA to PVG by metro, but less than 30min if you're luck to catch one mission right away.

My shortest route was a one off. The Boeing 707 was to take passengers from Ndola (Zambia) to Lusaka the capital where the DC-10 was waiting for us for the flight to London Heathrow. Since the 707 had mechanical problems after arriving in Ndola, the DC-10 was sent to pick us up from Ndola. There was a sizeable crowd since the route was normally serviced with a HS-748 or 737-200 but there were so many connecting passengers that the 707 was sent to pick us up, which turned out to be a failure. Since Zambia Airways didn't have much aircraft, there were no alternatives. Seeing this DC-10 landing in our small regional airport was quite the feat! Total flight time between Ndola and Lusaka was 30 minutes.

shortest for me would probably be Newcastle (EGNT) to London Heathrow (EGLL). Reason for this was because the BA Boeing 777 had done a long haul from Seattle and didn't have enough fuel to keep circling around London to land because of the fog (it was bad that day). Flew it up to Newcastle, refueled, and then flew back and got a window to land.

My shortest widebody flight was SIN-KUL return trip. Remember asking advice at my hotel in Singapore about tickets. Was “No problem”, just buy a ticket at the airport and take the first available flight. Almost like getting a bus ticket. Singapore Airlines and Malaysian Airlines could be chosen with the tickets and the leg was flown with mostly Boeing 747 with scheduled flights about 45 mins apart. This was back in 1998.
