This is NOT a World's largest city. It's beyond 40th place. The city itself is 11 mln. 2/3 of the administrative division that is larger than the state of Maine is beyond of Chongqing agglomeration. Although it might be the most modern city in China.

@@Reporterfy What he is saying is that the only reason they have a population of 30 million is because that number includes the population of a region the size of a state or to put it another way the same size as Austria and he is correct. The developed downtown core along the river houses roughly 30% of that population. This stems from the region's designation as a special economic zone decades ago, but anyone who can read a map can easily see that this doesn't fit the traditional concept of what comprises a city. It's a bit disingenuous of you to tell him to do more research when he is correct, don't you think? It's the equivalent of implying that the entire Kanto plain is Tokyo.

@@MissAwa515 I was born in 1974 so I remember watching news from China in early 80's and everyone had almost the same clothes (Mao style) and riding 🚲 Den Sjao Ping turned things for better with new policies in late 80's, then in 90's when we had wars in Yugoslavia and everything felt apart China was doing what we were doing during the 60's and even then in early 90's prediction were that China will surpass the USA by 2030 and those journalist obviously were very good because China is on that path BUT there is a very high possibility of war over Taiwan either China like it or not. There are powers in the USA which don't care about anything and anybody except them being at the top and calling the shots, they become superpower because Germany and Russia lost more than 40mil ppl in WW2 and they welcomed all of German scientists which Russia did also but Russia was destroyed by the war and their no 1 fear wasn't China but Germany and Russia becoming too close, now when they break that, China is next and if these people stay in the power you will have a war before 2030. They aren't stupid but they are evil and they already used Taiwan once for overtaking Kosovo from Serbia and they did that in a way that nobody even notices what they are doing and China did exactly what they wanted without even knowing and they then bombarded the Chinese embassy just to show off and smile at China.

@@vladimircurkoski1455 When our Yugoslavia embassy was bombed I was in primary school, but I remember that was huge. And the US halted a Chinese cargo ship in the middle of Indian Ocean in July 1993 for like 30 days with warships and helicopters, shut down GPS, insisted there were bio weapon materials and they eventually went onboard and rummaged, but there was nothing. That was another big lesson for our government. So now we have a strong military force and our own satellite navigation system. We can see the efforts the US made trying to start a war on Taiwan, but I think the think tanks knew the chance of winning that war has gone and going further as time goes by. Because US has always been in wars or supporting wars somewhere in the world, like now in Europe and in the Middle East. Russia has been pushed closer to China by the Ukraine war, it was a big strategic mistake. Who would push two giant enemies together if one wants to take them down? Especially Russia has all the energy resources, China has a whole manufacture system and high tech, and these two share borders. So I don’t think there will be a hot war over Taiwan anytime soon. We want peace and development, people need peace and development.

Not for the lack of trying on behalf of the west when it comes to that last part. The west, specifically the United States, has been working overtime to try to provoke China into war. Hopefully China doesn't take the bait the way Russia did, but continued aggressions and provocations in multiple ways can be hard to ignore.

I have heard of Chongqing before but still think of it as a hidden gem. Vertical, both in its terrain and the countless skyscrapers, and horizontal, with its many elevated expressways, the monorail system, and gondolas. It seems both gritty and glossy, with old buildings and new ones that light up at night. and it somehow seems more Chinese than Beijing or Shanghai, maybe because few foreigners know about it...until now. Definitely first on my list of places to visit. By the way, you might get more views if you delete 'in China' in the title. People might be more curious as to where 'the world's largest city' is. And also it might help with the KZread algorithm.

Most of them are from Taiwan. They are a bunch of brainwashed well frogs with no worldview at all. Ignore those clowns. When you go to Taiwan as a foreigner and praise them, they will appreciate your behavior like flies, but when you talk about their shortcomings Sometimes they will attack you like a mad dog. Many foreign bloggers feel this way, because they will not listen to your explanation at all. It is their daily job to discredit China.😂

That was amazing and scary. I kept thinking people would fall off that helipad. We were in Chonqing in 2018 and could see the theatre being lit up at night from our hotel room. I had a great beef noodle dish for about 12 yuan, at a tiny restauarant with only about 4 tables, in that large building which has several floors going up the mountain, so when you go up the lift, there's still a road when you get outside.

Some Japanese knew it, some Americans knew it, some Soviet people knew it. As the retreated capital of the Chinese National Government during World War II, the Chinese military and civilians used Chongqing's mountains and rivers to block the Japanese attack, allowing China's industrial and cultural assets to be preserved. U.S. Ambassador Stuart witnessed the negotiations between the two Chinese regimes. When he left China, Mao Zedong wrote a mocking poem for him. Later, when New China faced the deterrence of the Soviet Union, the Chinese hid important military technology in the mountains of Chongqing and continued research and development, thereby using their own nuclear power to relieve the deterrence from the north.
