The World's First Pro Gaming Oscilloscope: The $18,000 PimpScope 42069

Ғылым және технология

Meet the world's first liquid-cooled dual-screen RGB pro-gaming oscilloscope, the MLG-Z 42069.™ It's got TWO windows.
Keysight University goes live March 15th! Sign up at bit.ly/ZFreedKeys
Keysight Technologies sent me an $18,000 oscilloscope, and I used my gaming PC case-modding skills to hack in a Raspberry Pi Pico, carve out a window, add a water-cooled Raspberry Pi touchscreen, and taste the rainbow with over six feet of RGB DotStar and NeoPixel LED's. It's our last week before moving to Colorado, and we're going out with a crassly ostentatious bang.

Roast my spray-painting technique: / zackfreedman
Taste the rainbow: / zackfreedman
Infinite thanks to Daniel Bogdanoff and the rest of the Keysight Labs content team for hooking me up with this princely piece of test equipment and laying out those tasty circuit board labels.
This is the single most expensive object I've ever owned, and one of the cleanest, crispiest, and most involved mods I've ever built. This is truly the crown jewel of Voidstar Lab, and the ultimate send-off to New York City.

"Calibre" - EspiDev
Hey, friend, if you're still reading this, I lied in the video. I actually MIGHT appear in Keysight University. But let's keep it our little Description Reading Club secret, kay? 😉

I've seen test equipment with a shielding layer over the display², possibly using Indium Tin Oxide (ITO), the electrically-conductive-but-visibly-transparent material used in touchscreens. It might not be as effective as more typical shielding materials, but it's presumably better than nothing, and might be better than a mesh (depending on the mesh's grid size and the frequency of the radiation you're shielding against, I imagine). ¹ Within reasonable limits. I don't mean 100% transmission of the entire visible spectrum, pedants :p ² I think I saw that in a teardown video of a spectrum analyser over on the mikeselectricstuff channel. ⁰ Footnotes~! 😸

@HULL GUITARS USA I would think anyone smart enough to make or need an 18k squigglometer would be smart enough not to modify it. Point accepted. Per looking cool on social media, I hate to argue against you here. As you are here and you are commenting after watching some of this video. I can only assume that means you gained brand awareness (or at least you were reminded) about Keysight the brand. Now, I accept that this may not play a conscious role in your decision to purchase their gear. However, you now know who they are (or you are reminded) and may at least consider reading a real review on their gear before purchasing it. Meaning.. this infotainment segment for an MLG meter was arguably successful.. even for a person like you who prefers real reviews. For people like me who can't even dream of justifying a purchase of this quality. I found it immensely entertaining, and you can bet. When I can justify purchasing an entry-level model, the first searches I will run will be of companies that I have watched videos on in the past.

@@LouisWhittington I completely agree with you. Just not for me personally. But I know most folks would definitely be influenced by something like this and its genius marketing. But I have more financially invested keysight test equipment, than all of the vehicles I’ve ever owned combined. i’ve been with their brand through all the name changes from HP, to Agilent, and now keysight. I am a great admirer of theirs and think they are one of the greatest American companies. Most of their $$$ is from folks with labs full of their equipment, or big boys like CERN and NASA. They’re just trying to gobble up more of the market share and I don’t blame them for it. And in all honesty... I’m sure it will work. Because it will make hobbyists and beginners aware of the brand… And the big boys who buy truckloads of their equipment won’t care because they won’t see it. I just happened to fall somewhere in the middle. I think they call us “enthusiasts“ 😂
