All metro systems in China are super clean , modern and well maintained. And China Alone has more metro system than whole Europe or North America. And yet the West insist ion teach us that the government in China hates its people. If that is what a bad government does, then I wish I had such "bad" government as well here in Portugal. 😅

When I first went to Shanghai in 1995, there were only two short lines, one straight line and the other one something like a J shape and both had very few stops on them. Just look at the Shanghai underground spiderweb now! Mind boggling growth!

Thanks for sharing information about what is really happening in China without distortion and manipulation like most mainstream media from the US. This is the stuff the mainstream media from the US don't want people to know about.Whether you call China a communist or socialist state it is undeniably a country putting the common good of a community first. Thus the Central and regional governments will planned, invested and installed whatever facility to improve the lives of the citizens in the community...I will keep my fingers crossed for you!Have fun..

Great video. What a pleasant surprise! I was born and raised in Shanghai, although that was way before the time of Shanghai Metro line 1. Before the pandemic, I usually travelled back to Shanghai several times every year. Unfortunately, the last time I was in Shanghai was December of 2018. I have been to all those stations you mentioned in the video. 吴中路 is a few stations away from where I live when I was back in Shanghai in 2017 and 2018. 淮海中路 was the station for my childhood home, where I spent the first 20 years of my life. It is right across the street from my high school. However, they all look so different from when I was there in 2018. All the beautiful interior decorations must have been done within the last few years. The ticket and the ticket prices seem all changed. Back in 2018, there was only two options, the single trip ticket and the Metro card. I used 支付宝 when I was in Shanghai, but I cannot use 支付宝 directly for Shanghai Metro. As for the price range, I remember the lowest ticket price at that time was 2 yuan, but a ride to 南汇滴水湖 (The farthest station as of 2018) was 16 yuan. Well, so many changes just in a few years. This is PROGRESS. Thanks for your excellent video again!

China government was always just too arbitrary to build infrastructures. Their decision making process is not straight forward, not passing through public justification. The officers do things based their own interests and corruptions. They set up companies to buy the land around the stations before the news is open to the public. Any reasonable person could wonder why it is feasible to have so many lines, so many stations, so concentrated that they can get enough and reasonable revenues to operate alone. And the local government are constantly raising more and more debts to build and maintain those infrastructures. Now it's already up to a point that they can't even afford to pay the interests of the debts. So, do you really think that can go on forever without reaching break-even points??
