The Woodpecker Resting at the Cottage in October 2023
It's the end of the year and we have to close the cottage. Renée and I spent almost two full weeks over there. During our stay, we managed to rest a bit and did some chores. Some people would say that it's not resting but just being there is so peaceful that it doesn't matter.

My sort of holiday! Gosh you did well with all that brush-cutting -- that'd be hard work even for someone in their 40s. Grand to see that you're both so healthy & fit!

Thank you. Yes it was relaxing but also a lot of work, but we only made a 6 hours shift each day, maybe someone in their 40' would be able to go for a full 8 hours, but not us. After editing this I was unhappy of my job, so we went another day (6hours) cutting what I missed and some bushes here and there.
I saw teo grouse this week. That's a lot for me. One was sitting on an asphalt road like a chicken and didn't move when I drove by.

WOW I remember you saying that since you moved to NY grouses were like sasquatch out there....
Did the squirrel just chew through the soffit to get in? Nice to see you enjoying your little slice of heaven.

No I have no clue how the damn rat managed to get inside. It's the first time this happen in 30 years. Renée think it crawl under an ondulation of the metal roof. My new soffits are un-chewed and no squirrel can enter. I'm just glad it was able to get out otherwise I would have had a mess with chewed windows screening. But at least all the windows were a bit open, this is the advantage of having shutters.
Sorry about the squirrel. I had a problem with them for 2 years in a row. I bought a pellet gun….haha!

It's the first time in 30 years that one enter the cottage and I have no clue where it came from??? One thing for sure not from my soffits....
