The Women's Football Podcast I About Zambia I S1E3

Спорт

Today, we‘ll talk about Women's Football in Zambia - with Aaron Mubanga.
Zambia, just a couple of years ago was ranked 110th In the world. In the last four years, they made it to two Olympics and a World Cup. Also: the two most expensive players in the world are Zambian: Barbra Banda and Rachael Kundananji. We actually talked on the day of the announcement that Barbra Banda moves to the US to Orlando Pride.
Despite these star players, they got knocked out in the group stages in the World Cup, but Aaron is sure they can do better at the Olympics this summer. At the timing our conversation they hadn’t qualified for the Olympic Games in Paris this summer yet. But since we talked the beat Morocco and secured their spot.
Zambia is an exciting place for women‘s football at the moment - but not free of controversies. Besides the on the field success and Aaron’s role as Barbra Bandas manager, we also talked about the allegations against Zambian national team coach Bruce Mwape.
Aaron was such an interesting person to talk to and I hope you enjoy our conversation.

Great insights. Mubanga should also educate fans who make wild predictions and "win" the game before it is played. This attitude is damaging to both women's and men's football.

Absolutely true! A match first has to be played and we all know that in 90 minutes a lot can happen. 😊
