Your local pastor or priest should be trained to help as well. Sometimes it arouses less suspicion when you just need to stop by the church or parsonage for a bit. You can use any pretense-you want to donate something, etc.

Unfortunately, Jane was the only one who could testify against her own rape and while that’s terribly awful, it shouldn’t matter as he should already be serving the rest of his pathetic life in prison. 30 years is not enough, he’s shown he has no remorse for what he’s done, he had zero respect for women, and is a danger to society as a whole and should rot in a cell by himself.

We have a child and he did in fact physically abuse her too at 2 weeks old! My heart feels for Jane. Anybody in this kind of situation, never think he won’t hurt your child too, they do. They use you up until you have nothing left. You’re their property and so is any children you have with them. They’re in humane and once they lose control of you everything gets worse. Tell somebody you need help and get you and your kids as far away as possible! Get the police involved. Learn how to protect yourself. And never go back 😓💜 Stay safe ladies!

I was confused why she was simultaneously expressing a deep fear but also letting her guard down at the same time. Having been in a domestic abuse situation I will not judge or assess the situation but I just thought it was interesting(?) since she had seemingly already moved on from him... Unfortunately your brain can try to convince you that your intuition is an overreaction and I assume that’s probably what happened here. People out there, if you feel fear like this woman expressed, then keep doing whatever you can to protect yourself even if people are telling you that you’re being silly or you’re acting crazy or overreacting or WHATEVER they might say. Please 💜

I worked at Blackpool Victorial Hospital at the time & remember this happening. Although I didnt know Jane personally, the shock & despair I & my colleagues felt is irmeasurable. Walking through the hospital corridors you could feel the pain weighing heavy on everyone. I believe it was a member of the public going back to their car, that found Jane & I dread to think how they felt. Little did I know, a few years later, after finding myself trying to flee an extremely similar situation, the new measures put in place by the hospital because of Jane's murder, would actually help me. I had security guards escourt me to & from my car & my dept door. I was provided with a personal silent alarm which alerted a 24hr security company of my location & sent a 30 second recording of what was happening. I was offered councilling & was forwarded on to Fylde Coast Women's Aid. I'll be forever grateful to Jane's parents for campaigning so hard. Jane will be forever remembered in my heart

Domestic violence survivor here.. I just want to say there is always a way out(even though it may not seem like it). It took me 6 years and a police officer telling me he didn’t want to see another young woman murdered to fully leave. I had two small children at the time too, but when I started running I couldn’t stop. Even though I had been battered, ripped away from my family, my friends I still held on to hope. In leaving my abuser, even though I had two children with him, I found love and happiness in someone else I would eventually marry in 2017. It’s been 4 and half years of nothing but happiness with my husband, and my two children and we even added a child together in 2018. Thank you Eleanor for this case and bringing awareness. 💜

Notice to all women: when your 'boyfriend' tells you he is married, chuck him out. Finish it, end it instantly. And for good measure tell his wife so she can decide if she wants to ditch him as well - she should. Don't listen to any stories about the marriage is failing, he is unhappy, she doesn't understand me, I am only staying in it for the kids, I will be divorced soon etc. etc. Do not accept any excuses, none, finish it instantly because only one of two things will happen; he wont' ever leave her and just string you along. Or the guy who commits adultery with you will eventually commit adultery on you.

This! Happened to me. First he sent me a mistell meant for someone else saying "No, my wife doesn't play, but my girlfriend (my name) does." Um, yeah, he'd neglected to mention he was married. When I busted him for it, out came the water works: "She's cheated, I'm not even sure if any of my kids are mine, and I'm trying to divorce her but she's making it difficult threatening to take my son from me and I can't lose my son, I love him so much." Few months later? His brother spilled the beans that the wife was pregnant again. There was no divorce (at that time), it was all a ruse to try to have his cake and eat it too. I ran into him years later. He had JUST finalized his divorce (I think she finally had enough too)...and was dating a married woman. Scum never changes, and the lies are always the same.

“He would tell little white lies” YES OMFG. People often miss this part of narcissists, it’s one of the BIGGEST signs before the ab_se gets worse. I was friends with a narcissist and she would lie about everything. Every. Little. Thing. Just random things that didn’t matter. She would often contradict herself too! One minute she was rich and she use to live in a house with a movie theatre, the next minute she was dirt poor and her mom never helped her finically. These people just can’t help themselves, their mouths open before they even have time to think. Please, if you feel you’re in an unsafe relationship listen to your intuition/gut feeling and check for little red flags like this. Every red flag, no matter how tiny, matters. You are not crazy! You’re noticing signs for a reason!

It is worth playing devil's advocate here; bail is an intrinsic right and part of the long-established tradition that you are innocent until proven otherwise. If not applied corrupt governments can, and do, trump up endless charges to keep someone in prison. There are exceptional cases where it leads to tragedy but remember in this case no evidence was offered of his violent past, had it been the law allows for him to be kept in. No legal system is perfect, nor can it be made so. The maxim 'good cases make bad laws' applies, using individual tragic cases to shape laws for everyone and all instances is dangerous to all our rights. Parole exists to keep order in the prisons; as strange as it sounds unless the prison authorities have something to dangle at most people they often misbehave and prisons become unmanageable. Most times it works and prisoners work to try to reform, behave and get educated to get parole. Again, tragic exceptions occur. It's easy to forget amongst all the headlines that crime has fallen substantially but in the end we all need to take sensible precautions. I don't walk in certain areas as I fear the consequences late at night, I shouldn't have to but overall the streets are safe. But we cannot make them risk-free. The police and criminal justice system are always working to protect society more. Some states/countries now allow for prosecution of domestic abusers without the victim's consent and men (mostly lets be honest) are taken to the cells for the night to begin with to allow the woman to leave or change the locks. This stops -as happens endlessly - the woman pulling the charges or not showing up. A huge percentage of cases fail because of this. New innovative double-restraining orders are being trialled, this is where the woman is precluded from going near the man when she obtains a restraining order preventing him coming near her. This stops him getting the opportunity to give the 'I have changed' speech and try to convince her to drop charges etc because she cannot legally go near him. All in all we are moving forward but there are ways to address these issues without throwing our long-fought for rights out with the proverbial bath water.

Everyone asks why the victim doesn’t leave but that’s why it took me so long to leave my abuser. As a survivor of sexual abuse from a romantic partner I totally understood her reasoning for not telling her parents he raped her. I’ve never told my parents, about the sexual abuse or any of the other abuse, because I’ve always been scared they’d think less of me or felt like they’d blame themselves. I was lucky enough to escape but even six years later I’m still healing, because it’s just such a hard thing to talk about and come to terms with. I still won’t say most of it out loud to anyone because it makes me sick to even remember. It’s hard and I feel like I’ll never completely heal but I’m so glad I was able to get away. I think if I hadn’t I probably would have ended up like Jane, which scares the hell out of me. I just wish I’d had the courage to go to the police like Jane did. a stalker and domestic abuser registry would be life changing for so many ppl. I wish we had that where I live. If you can't prove sexual violence (which often isnt reported right away in most situations especially domestic ones) and you can prove all the other horrible things happening they could just do this again to other ppl without much warning.. these kind of abusers cycle through ppl and need to control victims... being on a list even if they didn't serve time or only served a bit or had probation would be validating in it's own way so you can warn others. they cant brush it off and say you are lying, it was for a bar fight or she made stuff up. my abuser went on to hurt other girls and even lied to one while stalking me and she contacted me after seeing my photos on his computer. another girl tried taking him to court whil i was dating him and he got extra controlling and manipulated her into dropping charges and i feel like if i had fought back and been less scared of him maybe i could have helped her case. now i just have therapy notes and ptsd for my troubles and he goes on hurting more ppl. I'm likely posted online everywhere too which can be evidence but im too scared to try and look and the longer the wait the harder it will be... most abusers NEVER face any consequences and when they do its never their fault and always their victims being so mean to them for nooooooo reason. they will never just up and decide to change or not abuse the next one. they need to be forced to be better through therapy and restrictions or be isolated from society.

Women in Hollywood have an Excel file that they share that contains the names of known abusers. That way if a woman is worried about working with a certain director or costar or producer or what have you, they can look at the list and look for that person's name and see if anyone has any negative experience with him. I absolutely love this idea because it doesn't rely on court convictions, but rather on believing women. It gives so much power back to these women being able to make informed decisions about their lives and careers. I hope this becomes more common. Every city, every state, should have these lists and women can share it with other women.

@@revortexed448 men would need their own spreadsheet. The reason this was shared among only women wasn't to exclude male victims, but to keep it out of the hands of the men who are doing this so they can't manipulate it or find out who is talking about the abuse. This was a way for the women of Hollywood to warn other women without jeopardizing their careers, facing backlash from the abuser, and to save people from situations repeating themselves. Fact is, if the abuser got hold of this list, saw that someone wrote about a specific incident, they could go after that person even more. When one sex is routinely being abused by another sex, it becomes pertinent to keep that information close and not share it with everyone. If men created a spreadsheet about their female abusers, it most definitely should be kept between men and not shared among everyone. Imagine if Johnny Depp had written about Amber Heard in one of these spreadsheets....would you want Amber to have access to it? So she could manipulate the data, post lies, blackmail him, out him and ruin his career, threatening him, or abuse him further? I guess what I'm trying to say is that this is another form of just because it's not all men doesn't mean we can trust all men. Not all men are rapists, but I wouldn't blame a woman for crossing the street at night or taking precautions when alone or vulnerable. It's a safety thing. When your abusers belong to a specific group, you aren't going to pick and choose who from that group should have access and who shouldn't, you'll just deny the whole group.

He just retired last month and whilst we tend not second guess judicial decisions in the UK everyone dropped the ball in this case but as the maxim goes 'good cases make bad laws' - establishing precedent on exceptional cases isn't a good idea. Bail is an intrinsic right as you are innocent until proven guilty unless you pose a threat. And although judges don't/can't make comments the JCO said '"In this case, at no stage was the judge told of any concerns expressed by Ms Clough in relation to her safety, nor was there any evidence presented to the court that Mr Vass was likely to commit further offences against her.' So what do you do?

@@jamesparsons9068 I tend to agree with you as he was looked into whether he committed any malpractice and wasn't charged. My comment wasn't necessarily to say he was wrong legally in granting bail but just to mention who he was and that he seems to be an odd individual (as shown in his spat with a landlord). Hindsight is a wonderful thing and if Judge Newell had known what Vass was capable of then he wouldn't have granted him bail I'm sure.

It doesn’t matter if Kendall and Eleanor can be seen as similar due to their content, multiple people can keep the same space. Even then, the concept of sitting and talking about something isn’t an original idea. People do it for things like drama, commentary, and even in the form of video essays. It existed even longer than that though, way back many years ago as butter was being churned they would listen to people talk. It is only natural people would begin talking about true crime as well. Because of this you cannot pin someone as the creator of this form of content. Both of those points aren’t too important though, what is really important is raising awareness and keeping the victims name alive. Both Kendall and Eleanor are doing this with there work. So who cares if they are similar? They are spreading awareness of serious subjects and helping out families. Let’s not compare them but rather applaud them for what they are doing.

Sadly abuse quite often gets worse when the partner gets pregnant. If anyone is being abused, please know that a pregnancy won't stop the abuse. It may temporarily improve but usually after the baby is born it will start again and will get worse. An abusive partner also puts the child at increased risk of child abuse, including as a newborn infant. It's fairly common that the baby crying will lead to the partner hurting the baby or shaking the baby (shaken baby syndrome) which can kill the infant in a matter of seconds. If this is happening to you and you're worried about your partner finding out, you can let your doctor know during any of your prenatal visits or well baby visits and they can get you the information to a women's shelter or other. Remember you're not in this alone and there is a ton of help available if you need. Also know that this isn't a reflection on your ability to spot a bad person. Abusers are excellent at charming people and very slowly ramping up the abuse as well as making you feel like your abuse is your fault. It's not. If you need help, do seek it out

Unfortunately, judges letting abusers out is the norm. Here, they only usually hold them for 24hrs, and my state has no self defense law. So, a victim will literally be arrested alongside their abuser if they defend themselves. Me and my kids had to go to underground shelters because my ex has 4 black belts and swat would literally have to come if I called the cops on him. There's no defending yourself against someone who is trained and proficient in 4 forms of martial arts and weapons. I switched vehicles so many times, switched jobs, didn't have any contact with any of my family or friends, was transferred in the middle of the night, not even knowing where we were being taken so many times. Yet, these judges continued to release him even when police officers repeatedly testified that if he wasn't held and incarcerated then he WOULD kill me. It wasn't a matter of IF, just when. Every damn time, he was released after 24hrs. He was in the process of going through getting his citizenship, and do you know wtf finally got him incarcerated and deported? He stole freaking furniture. The state valued damn couches and kitchen tables more than my and my children's lives. Effing furniture.. although I was and am happy that he was removed and sent extremely far away, it pissed me off that furniture was valued more than anything he had done to me. I was physically unable to work for a month because of my injuries. The cops had confiscated 4 illegally obtained guns from him. But, him stealing a couch is what made judges go, whoa, we have to remove him from the country, because we can't have a couch thief around here..

He could have gotten the maximum time and still easily gotten out and still killed her. It’s way more dangerous for a woman in a domestic violence setting after she leaves vs during the relationship. The person responsible is the murderer. Also as much as people hate to acknowledge this the victim plays a part. People accept abuse and being mistreated for ages and think oh they will change and ignore everyone warning them to watch out and leave. It’s going to escalate, it won’t stop, it’s not just once, you do not deserve it. You cannot heal them, or fix them, it is NOT just a phase. It is who they are and the lay in wait for them to be rooted in your life and see how much you will take before they strike.

I disagree, I used to be the one who would physically abuse boyfriends. I am not proud of it and hated who I was. To me physical abuse was normal in relationships because of how I seen my parents growing up. With my ex boyfriend we were both pretty physically abusive with each other and our relationship ended. With my current boyfriend I put my hands on him more than once and I just seen how it hurt him and we love each other so much and I didn’t want to be that person towards him anymore so I stopped. I love him so much and I did not want to be that way with him, he is a good man and such a sweet man and I just couldn’t allow myself to hurt him like that ever again. We’ve been together for only a year but I know from personal experience it will stop, it just takes you being patient with yourself , talking to yourself and telling yourself that doing those things isn’t okay. When I’m upset I just remove myself from the situation at the moment to allow myself to cool down and to think about things because I don’t want to blow up and be that ugly person anymore. Stepping away for a moment really does help. So no, no one can heal me or fix me only I can and I did, that wasn’t who I was that’s just how I was raised but you can break those generational curses. This case really hit home towards me. My father is an abusive man who emotionally and physically abused myself, mother and siblings. We are currently a legal battle under criminal law and family law for his domestic abuse. In February 2021 he came to our house and attacked my two younger siblings. He threw one of my siblings out of a car and kicked her pelvis in. With my other sister he chased and attempted to break her arm in the front door of our home. This attack has mentally traumatized my siblings and myself as well as my mum as she has a safety order on him from his abuse towards her prior and for myself as I've currently one on him also due to him punching me in the face and throwing me out of a moving vehicle at 14. Currently court is ongoing, he is out on bail even though court knows he is a danger towards my family. Criminal court has still not been settled and is still under investigation. My father believes we will drop charges but we are firm and are not going to. Since being on bail he has broken it four times 3 times trying to contact us threw social media and once by a letter to the house and the other time by not showing up to court. He was charged 50 euro for each bail breakage. A 50 euro fine is not a punishment and shows him he can continue to get away with this behavior. We as a family fear for our lives as court progresses as he is well known for violent outbursts and we fear what he could be capable of. He claims the night of February nothing happened. He claims my siblings, my mum and myself made this event up to soil his reputation. But also in family court seeking access for my youngest sibling who is autistic, stating he cannot make his mind up if he wants to see him or not due to his special needs. We all fear him. We are scared. He is out there getting away with breaking bail 4 times! He is a dangerous man. We are seeking help from Woman's Link who have told us as this case comes closer to the verdict and he realizes he is not going to get away with this he will become more violent towards us and in all honesty I believe he is capable of taking a step to far. So if anything happens this is proof our feelings towards him is correct. Laws need changing to protect families like mine because it's not fair we have to live in terror and possibly meet our ends by people like him and Jonathon...

My mother always makes excuses for my biological father, saying she fell in love with who he “was”, and my entire family kept telling my mother to leave him because he’s manipulative, but she’s so deep into the manipulation and low self esteem that she cannot leave him anymore. Not to mention that when divorce came up, my father said he’d find me no matter where my mother would take me. At least I can see through it and want to leave, but my mother’s far gone and not happy anymore, I don’t think she’ll ever be.

When they loose control, that's when they get really dangerous, that is often the only thing you're aware of. Tow the line and all you get is the same as you survived, arguing makes it worse, a person can be, especially if isolated, can be made to think it is them that is the freak, and so the abuse deepens. At 57:56 what a smug mug! He took a beautiful, vital, kind, caring person from our world. Not to mention what he took from his own child and Jayne’s family and friends. He’s a HORRIBLE human! Such a sad case. The silver lining is her parents determination to help other people with the laws created in Jayne’s name. They seem like wonderful people! No wonder Jayne turned out to be so kind.
