One aspect missing when describing corruption is nepotism. Officials’ relatives, children get government positions almost like they were family heritage. Vietnam, Cambodia, Thailand, China are quite bad but it’s the same in countries which are not supposed to be corrupted like Singapore or Japan

Yes, she is very greedy but it is more than that. She is not alone in the game. It involved the cooperation of all levels of government official corruption, her rich privilege status, mafia intervention, and foreigner cooperation. Any possible crimes that you've seen on crime TV (bribery, corruption, money laundering), it's all in there for many years. People saw the scandal would not dare to stand firm to speak out because whoever voiced were jailed with unknown conviction and those can't be framed with a crime will be intervened by mafia.

I worked for their hotel Windsor Plaza from 2008-2010 (my first job). It’s in District 5 the china town of Saigon. Met Madam only once or twice but saw her husband regularly. He’s a good man, was always very polite and respectful to staff, and came across as a very optimistic and kind individual. Their Sherwood residence in District 3 used to be one of the most luxurious serviced apartment complexes in downtown Saigon back then. Sad to see their empire come crashing down :(

American and Western media have long propagated that Communism is bad, it's ridiculous! So is capitalism perfect? Talking about the Vietnam War, I would like to quote a few quotes. 1972 The US Senate Foreign Relations Committee held a hearing on the Vietnam War for 3 days, from May 9 - 11, 1972 and invited 14 famous scholars to give their opinions to the US Senate about the war. Vietnamese paintings. Among them is the father of modern American linguistics Noam Chomsky. He said this about the Republic of Vietnam: “The South Vietnamese government has become a hiding place for Vietnamese people who followed the French in the fight against their country's independence. The South Vietnamese government has no strong base among the people, it follows the exploitation of the rural population and the urban underclass, in fact it is a continuation of the French colonial regime. Nguyen Van Ngan, a special assistant to Nguyen Van Thieu, also commented on American democracy as follows: "The Americans have replaced the French with a new colonial policy. In the 19th century, the French exploited colonial resources in the name of civilization, now the Americans exploited the blood of the Vietnamese people in the name of democracy to establish an anti-Communist outpost in Southeast Asia of the Domino doctrine. . Americans come to Vietnam not for the interests of Vietnamese people, but for the interests of Americans. The democracy that Americans praised when intervening in Vietnam is democracy defined in terms of American interests. Something that is used as a front to implement the divide and rule policy of establishing the 5th army to encourage anarchy, internal rebellion... to make it easier to appear and when necessary to carry out coups. and the assassination of the national leader at the hands of local agents.”

Capitalism may be flawed but it is far FAR better than communism will ever be. Inequality exists under capitalism but equal poverty and suffering with no chance of advancement is what communism always brings. I say this as an African whose country practiced socialism for decades and nearly deteriorated until we returned to capitalism.
