The punch 45 was the first car audio product I owned. It started a hobby in the early 90s and now in 2022 it's basically my career. Selling stuff I personally enjoy using myself. I never even knew of his early days and his huge influence on home audio. RIP Foz

He will be truly missed like all the other great audio gods, he is with the other audio firsts like Sal Marantz, Frank Mcintosh, this was a very good dedication and documentary on one man's dream and aspiration to build and bring to the world an experience in sound that would make it's mark on the world. Rip Sir.

They should have kept the series one around I still have the series from 4-in to 15s old stereo Fosgate. The amps were awesome. I'm glad stereos came back with the vengeance not as much as the 90s it's getting there though.

Awe man, I just found this channel. I started in Car Audio when I was 14 years old and started playing around in the late 80's. I worked for two car audio stereo shops in the early 90's. I remember I use to ditch high school something to hang out at the local stereo shops in my neighborhood. I remember my first Rockford Fosgate car amplifier which was The Punch 300. I didn't know anything Jim until now. I need to watch part 1 and 2 now. I will say that the marketing was the big winner to sell lots of there products.

It’s one thing to have the DESIRE to create, yet quite another to have the intelligence and capability to take an idea from conception, to fruition. But to NEVER give up, and to disallow fear, failure, or doubt to absolutely stifle his creativity and pioneering spirit… this is the true embodiment of being a visionary, an entrepreneur. A REAL entrepreneur. The fire within this man undoubtedly fueled a vast group of very caring and supportive people. Thanks for sharing his life through this documentary.

Wow...I added a Gavotte to my a/d/s/ amps, bi-amped speakers, 4 sub woofer system in 87(?) ..... That unit still drives the way I think of surround system design.... used it in a couple customer systems 89/90ish that did really good on the north east CAN/IASAC circuit..... Mine was a full size 85 Blazer with a stupid wide sound stage, but an acoustic hole at center stage....added the the Gavotte with an additional a/d/s/ 320i set in center of dash and P100 Power Plate (matching 5 speaker bi-amped) created a incredible sound stage......that's a total of 7 P100s..... etc.

I enjoyed this bit of history, and much of the inside scoop, so to speak, I personally didn't know, but, I knew Jim and some of the trials of his adventure, and I can tell you this, He is one heck of a really nice guy and as smart as they come. He was always known from outside eyes looking in, as an innovator that just had a few bad apples involved in his life. So, the way this video was modestly put together and being exceptionally polite, by simply not calling out a few parties who caused some of his early days of misfortune, also goes to show, what a nice guy he is, and highly respected. But, I can tell you, if some of those known issues had happened to me, "YOU BET YOUR A$$, I'M GONNA BLAST YOUR NAMES ALL OVER THE PLACE FOR THEIR MISDEEDS AGAINST ME AND MY FAMILY'S WELL BEING".. LOL... But, again, that is why he is a super nice guy. For what it is worth, I still have two Pro-Line stick radio's from the early 80's, that just sat on the shelf as old stock that the foreign manufactures were making their cheaper units, so his sat on the shelf, but I got them anyway, as I wanted to hook them up to 3 axis gimble for CCTV mounts and not need to punch holes in my roof.. and never did, and still have the radios though new in box..... I should did one of those out and hit the local RC race track, LOL... That would be so cool, rockin some old school stick controls..LOL

📌🌴 Incredibly Interesting but ya know at the same time with this new closeness ya know my Rockford amp would heat up stop working; good at 1st but then it stopped working all together. The small screw would strip the terminals would loosen.I think Interesting genius doesn't have to stop with this story. But actual locations to work on your existing equipment and Even ... to custom the amps with better stuff, upgrades.I feel as Interesting this story is to me it falls short that's my opinion. Were left with what we can get and the intrest that something better a new model better opitions is around.I feel even today there's more sound ideas and business that can easily compete and make it better and line up with where Rockford and other sound companies have left off.Where it's not about the warranty and the upgrade next year. But way more opitions and a better personal touch to sound equipment.
