they seem to be doing this to quite a few stories lately, it's extremely puzzling to me! 🤔 i haven't figured out their motives yet. if they're actually trying to do something other than flop their project, it should've become quite clear a very long time ago now that whatever it is they're trying is clearly not working. yet they keep doing the same thing again and again expecting different results? really? why? can they be that stupid? or what the heck is going on?? 😵‍💫 i just don't get it.

@@Pearleace It's a win-win situation for them because if the new "improved" version turns out to be popular then it replaces the older one in everyone's minds and if it flops then it has tarnished the reputation of something they dislike. They don't have the ability to be able to create anything original close to Sapkowski's work so it wouldn't have been possible to be involved without doing it this way. The only way they could have conceivably done it is to remain true to the source material but that still requires skill in adaptation e.g. the Lord of the Rings trilogy or the recent Dune film - otherwise it just produces the likes of The Rings of Power.

All the makeup this season was so horrific even I noticed it constantly - actually can't ever remember watching another show where I've spent even a second thinking about the makeup. The costuming was pretty awful too. One thing I don't agree with the video on though is that episode was NOT faithful to the books at all, and has contributed even further to eroding Ciri's character - Ciri does not get some ghost apparition of Falka appearing to her to convince her to use chaos magic - she decides to do that herself out of desperation and hubris - taking that decision away from her defeats the entire purpose of the whole desert plot.

The only two things my wife remembers from Witcher games is the alcoholic troll from W2 and the unicorn from W3. I’m surprised the unicorn hasn’t shown up yet. She could do a better job than these writers. She was in fact upset that there wasn’t an entire episode of Geralt helps grieving drunk troll slaughter the villagers that killed his wife. My wife could write this episode, without speculation as to the power of vagina, and it would be better than all of seasons 2 and 3 combined.

Rience is easily handled by a more experience mage like Yennefer (or Geralt who's signs are better than Rience's actual magic) but Yennefer isn't in most of the books where Rience is tracking Ciri (who is on her own) and Geralt is being a badass with his gang of all stars, making it very suspenseful. Now the show is relying too much on Leo Bonhart and Skellen being the only suspenseful villains involved with Ciri...But there goes the meeting of Bonhart, Skellen, and Rience...

I need to say 3 more things: 1. The Stregobor moment was so funny, I actually burst out laughing. As a plot device, it wasn't great, but the actor made it up with his performance. His whole-body expression when he yells the "you filthy, disgusting mongrels" line is a moment worthy of several memes. 2. I "love" how Francesca doesn't even think about wiping the blood off her face for one second during the battle. I know, shock and all, but there's no way it'd splatter in a clean way, precisely avoiding the eyes and so on, and even then, it'd drip down on her eyes from her forehead. The very first instinct (NOT EVEN A CONSCIOUS THOUGHT) when sth lands on your face, is to wipe it off. And when the former-mage lady gives her the motivational coaching, she also doesn't think about wiping the blood off Francesca's face, which would be probably the first thing I'd do if I wanted to make sb focus on sth else than the loss of the person the blood and guts belonged to. 3. The Vilgefortz fight was pretty alright, but how he made his stick bigger twice was very funny. If the show didn't suck, that'd make for a great scene mockery, where he just makes it bigger and bigger, going like "it's not even my final form!" and by the end fighting with a 10-15 meter pole.

This whole "fire magic = bad and forbidden" is a trope entirely made up by Netflix. Only forbidden magic was necromancy. As for the fire, it had nothing to do with acttual fire final effects, but with the drawing from fire energy. The elemental veins were described meticulopusly in Blood of Elves during Yennefer teachings. They were meant to teach Ciri, but also accoplished exposition for the audience, about magic system in this world. In fact, Triss Merigold in the books were known as very talented magician with fire final effect magic and she surely showed this in the Battle of Sodden . But no. In this shit nobody can be talented who is not Yennefer, nobody could be right who is not Yennefer and Yennefer takes away whole Triss agency (and couple of other characters as well). But instead of completely scrapping those characetrs they still put them in the show. And - surprise - they got nothing to do.

I like to think of season one is Jaskier retelling Geralt, Ciri, and Yennefer's stories but making shit up to for "dramatic effect" seems like something that he would do. That's when I read the books and played The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt and was amazed by the world. I was excited for season 2 and we all know how that went. I couldn't even finish the season. First time in my life that it happened. Theirs only a few things I actually liked from the show. • Henry Cavill giving a MILLION PERCENT as Geralt of Rivia • Joey Batey as Jaskier/Dandelion. I always liked him (not counting the stupid romance with FUCKING Radovid) • Geralt vs The Striga • The two song, "Toss A Coin To Your Witcher" and "Burn Butcher Burn". @@rasmusliedberg3489 yeah, The Witcher would be one of the easiest Books to make a series out of for ''modern audiences'' Because it already comes with all the strong female characters, racial themes, gay relationships and doesn't need to be hacked and butchered. But it has become known, that the showrunner and the writers only have a surface-level knowledge of the books, probably didn't rea them but had them summarized, and they actively hated the story, so no wonder there, they crashed and burned.

In the series she came out to me as a bored convenience store clerk, like that "AND THEEEN?" voice in Dude, Where Is My Car (if you know you know). She is supposed to be a caring person and that's where her brutal honesty comes from, as a virtue and not as meaningless sass. Her character has a lot of subtleties. This could be promised to the viewers a bit more by better presentation. Hopefully that still comes later in season 4.

If Geralt had killed him earlier in the season, then the only thing that would have changed is that the "friends" of Geralt that he killed would have just lived. Cahir suddenly being remorseful was absolutely hilarious. And him somehow being relevant against the charging Scoia'tael had me laughing at the screen. Fringilla and Frencesca? Fair. Yennefer and "The Lodge" was so boring. And them talking about how they destroyed their home when it was really just one room and some furniture got knocked over. This show does did its best to make so many characters so uninteresting.

I feel that Yennefer is being portrayed as more interested in sorceresses and the lodge than Ciri and where she is and what happened to her after entering the tower. In the books after escaping the lodge Yennefer set out to instigate and find Ciri as her primary motive and those who know, know where that lead her, but Netflix will probably just give her both motivations or something over the top. Ciri's motivations developed, at one point feeling betrayed and abandoned because so much time had passed and neither Geralt or Yennefer had found her yet. Then Ciri started getting visions of both Yennefer and Geralt in trouble and felt that she had to save them and set off to do so, but there's not set up for it and if any of it even happens it will no doubt be a just because moment.

Since the writers decided to basically do whatever they wanted, I really thought they were going to utilize Geralt's death in the books to explain the transition from Cavill to Hemsworth, just done differently, where Ciri would have witnessed Geralt's death and cause her to have a freak episode like she did in the first season (with her scream and all that) and not only causes her to teleport to the desert but causes Geralt to teleport to a different dimension where everything about him as changed except his personality and goals, potentially reviving him and curing his wounds as he shifts dimensions, and if Yennefer were there for it, maybe she could have teleported somewhere else and they could finally give her the big gorgeous hair she deserves, so in a way, not only did Geralt change but so did Yennefer, but just less drastic.
