The Witch (stylized as The VVitch, and subtitled A New England Folktale) is a 2015 period psychological horror film written and directed by Robert Eggers in his feature directorial debut. The film stars Anya Taylor-Joy (in her first film appearance), Ralph Ineson, Kate Dickie, Harvey Scrimshaw, Ellie Grainger, and Lucas Dawson. Set in the 1630s, The Witch follows a Puritan family who encounter forces of evil in the woods beyond their New England farm.
An international co-production of the United States and Canada, The Witch premiered at the Sundance Film Festival on January 27, 2015, and was widely released by A24 on February 19, 2016. The film received critical acclaim and was a box office success, grossing $40 million against a budget of $4 million.

Can't wait for 'The Northman'... I only hope Eggers carries some of the themes/atmosphere he explored in his previous films. The trailer sure looks promising!

What did you think of "the Northman"? The witchy realities are similar, but VVitch deals more with the unknown and perhaps Northman more with certainty.

The scene where the father locks the children in the barn… and here we see the twins together with Black Philip sitting next to them, almost guarding them. While the eldest daughter is removed. Now we know why, they believed, while she still didn’t. GREAT.

Thank you so much! This is a passion project for now but we're hoping it can become something more than that. We'd like to do more discussion-based videos in the future. We'd also like to one day shoot behind the scenes videos for low budget film productions.

@@CinemaLabyrinthine Another great pristine looker, but like Blade Runner 2049 it was missing something for me. Another slow burner. I still own the Northman 4k disc though just cuz I'll pop it in every now n then for the cinematography, just like 2049.
