The Winners Reading Vlog

Ойын-сауық

I love Backman, that's been well documented on my channel. I've read every one of his books and all that was left was The Winners...sitting and waiting for me to pick it up. Once Book 3 of the "In Ash series was off to critique partners, I picked it up...this is what resulted. If you are here for an infamous Julie sobs reading vlog...you're in for a treat, my friend.
THIS VIDEO IS FULL OF SPOILERS FOR THE SERIES--DO NOT WATCH UNLESS YOU HAVE READ THE BOOKS.
Content Guide: this video discusses r*pe, fun violence, dead, suicide, drug addiction, drug overdose, alcohol abuse and alcoholism, natural disasters, PTSD, child abuse, and other hard topics.

I swear, that book broke me. I read it a few months ago, and I still cried along with you because I KNEW what you were reading..... I loved so many characters, but Benji will be one of my favourite characters for the rest of my life. Backman truly has a gift. I also said out loud, many times while reading, "This man GETS it.". This trilogy will always have a special place in my heart. 💔❤️💔❤️

I'm so glad you walked away from the series with the same heartfelt thanks for Backman that I did. This series will always hold a special place for me. Thanks for watching, Shannon.💜

I'm baaack... I finished it last night... or should I say early this morning because it was after midnight?... I thought I'd wait and finish watching this much later in the day, and maybe my feels wouldn't be so 🤔... 😭. Well, damn it, you were right I was not prepared for that second 1/2 of the book, and here I am again, listening to to you read all the same tabbed parts I found meaningful, poignant, and powerful and feeling all the feels and crying. Again!!! Sobbing with you. I find it fascinating that we both wept & paused after that practice game where everyone was laughing together... At that moment, while I'd been listening to the audiobook, my husband had given me my plate of dinner . He was concerned because I'd started sniffling and reaching for tissues 🤧... I told him that the meal just looked so nice. He said, "It must be the carrots." Totally deadpan. 😂🤣😆 He wasn't buying it, but bless his heart for playing along at that moment. OMG, this book trilogy! Backman... gah! Every damn time... I need to be sure to apace out the heartache just like I am with Jeff Zentner's books. Darn those men and their talent to make us cry hard.😭😭😭 Dang it. 🫂❤️‍🩹

Yeah, it was a very ugly cry for me, but I love the books so much. I have never been happier to have a man break my heart. They're stunning! Glad you finished and felt as connected and in awe of it as I did.💜

I know exactly how you feel, Julie. This series is fantastic on so many levels, but Benji is the very best part. It still hurts to think about and it's been months. But wow... what a series.

I haven't reflected on the book too much after finishing. I know I will when I re-read it to annotate the book that's the correct size for my collection, but holy heck. It was a RIDE. I loved every minute, even if it broke me. Glad I'm not alone in feeling all the feels.

I finished it yesterday when I had an empty house. My face still hurts today, it's so puffy. You know what's coming and it still hurts so hard. Freaking Backman lol! I can't believe it's been six years, I'm pretty sure I found you because of Backman and I still cry with you each video. Happy New Year Julie, I hope it's a great one for you!

I had the same reactions as you while reading it and I cried right along with you again in this video... Backman really knows how to make me fall in love with characters and then rip them right out of my heart... 😭

I will take future Julie's advice... saving to Watch Later because I am reading it in January... also buying a box or two of tissues.... cause... one can not prepare enough for a Backman book. Just saying...
