CD Review
Honestly, at this point if you don't know who Billy Sheehan, Mike Portnoy and Richie Kotzen are, you probably wouldn't be on a rock music website, and you likely wouldn't have even clicked on this review. So safe to assume most everyone reading this review of the new Winery Dogs album knows at the very least that this is the new power trio these three legends have formed. Their debut self titled album is set to release on July 23rd. Read More on www.JamMagazine.com

Ritchie is a hell of a musician, I'm glad it's working out for him ...

Wow. Billy seems like such an awesome guy!!!
ALL KILLER, NO FILLER! Could seriously be a band for the ages.
Great interview by 3 great musicians! I think these 3 absolutely belong together! Whatever they did before brought them to this and I am SOOOO grateful! Got to see them 2 times on the Monsters of Rock Cruise 2014! I bought the t-shirt and the CD! LOVE THEM!
Been waiting to meet Billy since 1986. Two nights ago we hugged. So good.

these guys are so great. My current fav band....
yes, classic rock needs to make a huge comeback, music now days is too serious and lacking the fun of the classic stuff, not that i'm bashing the new trends of today....great lineup right here for sure!
Cheers for the interview video.
This is classic rock with a fresh take. Th why are sooo good together. Hope to hear more from them.
Who here thinks Ritchie sounds like Chris from Sound Garden. I'm so happy that Mike is doing whats he's happy doing apposed to Dream Theater.
Great interview ...thanks

this band is really amazing, so inspiring and ispired, keep on rocking
Just got the album. Wow! These guys really ROCK!!!
Great interview ,really enjoying the new cd ;)
My new favorite band!!!
I agree. Ease up on the guys. If the albums and gigs are great, I'm not fussed if Richie is quiet in an interview.
we both have great taste :)
Very cool !!!! KEEP ROCKIN IT BOYS !!!!
Mike has played double bass throughout all the interview.
Set. 29 Portugal! Im so there!!!!
Awesome album, awesome band!
We are one Love that song
Ok guys: 2:50 Kotzen was just referring in general but the way Portnoy nods is like it that was "DREAM THEATER". Anyone else pick that up?
They are gonna get BIG. Ritchie has a great soulful style R & B rough voice and rock sound all mixed together. If FM radio plays them they will top the charts in my opinion....
Gotta give them a break, they were doing media all day, along with rehearsing.
Ive always thought about this top notch rythym section playing together Sheehan and Portnoy no doubt hands down best of their crafts...but its Ritchie that really turns iWD into a great trio .,,just real good music ,...
Billy is a virtuoso on that bass. I played in a power trio back in the 80's and 90's and the bass and percussion need to have a connection other than a conscious connection. Those two are the rhythm, foundation. Ritchie Kotzen is an excellent player and vocalist and layers that guitar in perfect harmony with the bass and percussion. Ritchie's voice reminds me a heck of a lot like Chris Cornell who is also a heck of a guitar player. It takes a lot for me to be this impressed being jaded by being in my own trio for 20 years.
Yes, I was just going to ask what's going on with MP's tattoos? His whole right arm looks blurred out, as if all of the tattoos are in the process of being removed. I wonder what that's about?
23 set Lisbon i'm there!!!
Hopefully Les Claypool will think the idea arm a new bomb sort of power house trio like this with Dave Lombardo on drums and Big Jim Martin on the guitar... zzzz just a lucid day-dreaming.
the winery dogs rules¡
I see you and I are in the same kotzen videos all the time
GREAT RECORD
Anyone else notice the blurred DT tattoo?
This reads like a disposition 😄 Three guys pretty much talking about themselves..For historical purposes. Rock and roll.
haha i love the face of mike on the facebook twitter question..
Killer band!
ahah ! Well, Richie can look tired. This man is a workaholic you know (drummer, bass player, singer, composer, producer, tour marathon-man... guitar player ?^^). But please make no mistakes, on stage he's another man.
What song is on the beginning?
EZ killa, we're talking about music!
Best new band bar none period. I hope Ritchie doesn't get bored with it. He's kinda like the white Prince.
This is completely Awsome! I think Portnoy found his nitch... gonna be a really great band!!.. and is already of course
richie looks excited to be there lol
I meant to say I love the album.
trust me, i know
The other guy was John Sykes
Strange how The Winery Dogs album sounds a bit like King's X. Great album anyway.
Credits...Billy SheeNaN ?!
Portnoy has admitted that he'd want be in DT again. So yeah, you're right. However, that doesn't necessarily mean he doesn't enjoy this. And the fact that the WD are taking off commercially is one thing, but I wouldn't want to call it commercial blues rock.
Nice typo on Billy's last name. Duh.
liquid trio experiment?
It just happened? Can you say audio slave?
I'm curious to know who the guitarist Billy and Mike were working with before meeting Ritchie. Anyone know?

Geo Musicman Tony MacAlpine? Paul Gilbert?
Richie siempre tiene esa actitud, es como si estuviera aburrido xD!
5000 is - not happening at the moment I think. 2000-3000 maybe? TWD maybe 500-1000? But if You have to rebuild and start from 0 is different ofcourse, when "everyone is expecting DT2"... MP had a big role in whole DT machine, so part of the succes is because of him.
Why?
John Sykes was never part of this band. MP & BS were working with him on another project. This was stated by MP himself, a cup of weeks ago.
Eddie Trunk. Wow.
3:40 mike Almost say (how i was)!!!
PuT Pornoy back in DT ..... Please
The thing about sarcasm is that it's missed most people (ie: dumb asses). Richie is a seriously funny genius!!!
(Con'td prior comment) Not familiary with Kotzen as vocalist, but he is very bluesy and sounds like Chris Cornell, at least how Cornell used to sound.
What happen to Richie? He looks pissed off...
Great band! Great show in Roseville. However, the meet and greet was anti-climactic. The vibe was that they really did not want to be doing the meet and greet. Hell, there was only 6 of us. They could have mustered 10 minutes of showmanship for a small group of fans that paid extra to do the meet and greet. There was some stupid COVID protocol, so no hand shakes and pictures had to be taken across a table. Kudos to Billy for breaking rank and personally handing everyone a guitar pick after the meet and greet. The other two completely disappeared. It was disappointing!
4:22 Richie checking out Mike's tatts lol
Wow, I can't believe how he acted so snide about calling John Sykes "the other guy"!! Sykes rules!
Could you megamind explain us why? I don't see anything wrong.
John Sykes must be really upset!
Saw these guys tonight at Reggie's in Chicago. They were awesome!!! Killed it. Haven't heard their EP, but from what I heard they are much better than Them Crooked Vultures. Sorry to say, but Portnoy is better than Grohl, Sheehan is better than JPJ and Kostzen is way better on guitar and singing than Josh Homme. Awesome show. See them when they come to town.
I pray they come to Hungary in their European tour. If you read this, Hungarian record company, you'd better offer them a show, or I'll put your office on fire waaaaaaa!!!
The the new album, I do hope Richie plays with a pick at least some of the time when I see them. For me it is much more exciting and just more ROCKIN. I get the finger style Jeff Beck plays like that, but I want to see some sweep picking.
John Who? LOL
;)
stop grabbing that nose Mike!
richie looks like a dog XD
