Stop complaining about the bass. This is a trio. It’s his job to fill enough so the song doesn’t sound “empty”. And he’s done it perfectly well. I would listen to this version over any other. All 3 are amazing!

Seems you don't know him. You are witnessing a virtuoso there, one of the greatest well rounded musician of all time.

I love Billy's excitement when Richie absolutely destroys that high note at 3:44. I'd probably do that too if I witnessed such vocal talent in person.

It's ridiculous that anyone who can play like Richie, then becomes a killer vocalist along the way!! He sings the hell out of this, and the original is widely considered to be one of the best vocals ever recorded. If you love music, HOW CAN YOU NOT LOVE THIS!?!?!?

The Tea Party impressed the hell out of me live. You’d swear there was 5 or 6 people on stage but it was only three. Lead singer was also lead guitar, then the was a bass player and a drummer. Blew me away

Billy's bass is way over the top here. But the best thing here is Ritchie's voice. Good God, he crushes it!!

Excellent version of a really cool song from 1975. Kotzen’s singing AND guitar work are impressive. The drummer is so relaxed while playing perfectly. Billy is his unique self in both tone and licks. Great entertainment.

Mike Portnoy is amazing. Very talented. Never tries to (over play) his drums.

The Winery Dogs are a power trio with no weaknesses, and this performance proves it. All three have technical skills for miles. The background vocals are tight as hell. Richie is just insanely talented, like Chris Cornel and Joe Bonamassa all rolled up into one. My favorite part of this performance is Billy's bass work. It's really refreshing to hear the bass line so distinctly from the drum work. Billy's tone creates a underlying rhythm which takes this performance to a whole different level. Most bands would try (and fail) to accomplish this with a rhythm guitar, but no need for that when your bass player is a genius!

What a delight to see the amazing Richie Kotzen nicely filmed. The only guitar shredder who will play Temps, Hall & Oates, Boz Scaggs (?!) right along with the toughest guitar rock, together with world class vocal delivery. Truly one-of-a-kind!

Love this version... Billy, Mike and of course Richie made me love this song even more!!!

Played drums for 35 years and when I was told who was in the band I payed for his ticket. It was in 14 I was introduced to this band and I knew what was coming. They did not disappoint. Just kicked ass....period

I'm going to go against the tide here and say that I think Sheehan's bass is majestic on this. It only adds to an already jaw-dropping performance.

"I started the wrong fucking song!" He started playing "Sara Smile" by Hall & Oates. I might be alone in this but I'd love to see Richie Kotzen as guest on "Live From Daryl's House". There's some killer jams sessions on that show from a wide range of musical guests. I think their styles would blend well musically and Richie would get so much more well deserved exposure from it because he should be a lot more famous than he is. Plus he does do a killer version of Sara Smile. Something that will probably never happen but I'd like to see it.

Consider the fact that there are only 3 guys on the stage. Billy fills up the gaps with the noise. Otherwise the song would lack dynamic. ☺️☺️☺️. A guitar a bass and some drums. That s not a lot so I understand why he does it

Three of my favorite musicians, in the same band playing one of my favorite songs that I sing (a capella) at least once a week (probably several times, if I'm being honest!) in my car on my way to & from work each day. Richie (he gets more amazing by the day!), Billy (my more successful and AWESOME twin on bass!) and Mike (OMG! Mike is SO in control on the skins AND hitting those harmonies! My NY Bro!!!) really just are so in tune with each other and bring their gift of beautiful music to this planet without any drama or BS... in 2023 this is THE band that is keeping Rock and Roll alive, kicking ass and being humble & real at the same time. These three are keeping the flame burning bright and true - it doesn't get better than this!

My sentiments exactly. You can tell he’s obviously talented but he reminded me of my Labrador Retriever trying to do every trick she knows in 20 seconds. His tone was very distracting too. Sounded more like an alien synth keyboard rather than a soulful R&B bass holding down the bottom end.

This is an AMAZING fucking cover of a classic, classic blues song!! And the vocals are NOT easy, and this Ritchie fella KILLS it!! Quite simply one of the best rock bands on the planet today. GREAT cover of a GREAT song! I do kinda wish Billy would've gone with a slightly cleaner bass tone for it, though, but it still KILLS!

Super tight performance. Sheehan's use of distortion and extra notes really help to fill things up. You don't even miss the keys when Billy is around.

Considering it's Billy Shehan in a project he helps write in, I'm fine with him exploring the boundaries a bit. If you want to check out some of his technique with a tone that's more "comfortable", check out their new single Xanadu, doubt you'll think any tones on it are crap.

I miss a normal bass tone when I listen to this! Yes he can play but he just so overdoes it here, playing and tone wise.

I keep coming back to watch this... a soul band high on life !!!

Yes the bass is distorted, The original had so many parts, Billy is filling it with overtones.

God this cover could be so great. Billy just stepped all over it though. I love a bassist who does more than just play the root, but know when it's appropriate and this song just needed a smooth groove desperately.

I also agree. First off, the tone was inappropriate for the song... what is this recent fascination with overdrive on bass for everything? Yuck. On top of that... shut the f*ck up with the million notes on the bass... it's not a solo. Smooth, measured playing and a big, warm, clean sound is what this song needed. So, basically, he failed on all counts.

Stronger than Mickey Thomas... No cheating down to a lower octive. Flying high falsetto with an edge. Really enjoying his talent.

I for one loved billy Sheehan’s bass. I thought it sounded incredible as are his skills as a bass player. He’s actually playing a bass solo under Ritchie’s guitar solo. Amazing!

Kelly F dude its not about his skills or note. Its about tone and sound.we know billy is a monster...but it doesnot mean he have to show in every fucking songs.come on,this song is so much chill and relax and there is a billy who play bass with distort. It freaking annoying. What if mike play 32nd note double bass pattern along with every bar with typicall metal fills in this songs. Would you accept it??? Is it good for song????. So,sometime musicians has to lay down back no matter how technicall h/she is. I think thats called a great musicians. P.S. i respect your opnion plus i m huge billy's fan. Peace

One solo at a time please! And as great as Billy is he doesn't hold a candle to the note choices and lyricism of Richie when soloing.

And this kids is how you sing without autotune and play real music without the help of a computer. Damn this guy has a good voice!

I've listening this version since 2016 and it just get better :') maaaaan...

Ritchie is one of the best guitar players on this planet, but his vocals easily surpassed his guitarists abilities. So much feeling, amazing!

OMG, i LOVE this band!!!
