@@regav62 Lol, i used to do that for a bit, but i completely quit all the games i used to play on Windows for linux, have been using it for years now. Actually, when i try to use a windows machine i struggle now, so i'm not sure if that's for the better? I get asked for help then i don't know how to solve stuff... oops

I think the reason for Windows 9 being skipped was thad it would probably break all windows 9x compatibility and cause a lot of confusion in the windows community

That's not true, If the program was looking for the version then it would look for the NT version and Windows 9 would have been based of NT and not 9x. This was just a hoax by someone and not true

Another reason Windows 9 might have been skipped is because at the time of release of 10, Microsoft wanted to make windows 10 the last windows version and keep updating it basically forever, hence windows sun valley, basically that windows 10 update which in the end became windows 11 but the theory in this video also makes a good point from a marketing perspective

aero did not age like milk tho, recently with the slow comeback of skeuomorphism and aesthetics from late 2000's people have been interested on the frutiger aero aesthetic wich includes the aero theme from vista/7

I love aero, a bit because of nostalgia bias but mostly because I genuinely like how it looks. Having to look at boring flat Win10 for 6 years got tiring and Windows 11 is more fun than 10 but still not like 7.

This is really high quality content but extremely underrated

Really good and accurate. Some topics that came to mind while watching are "windows refund day", the Internet Explorer vs Netscape legal issues in the 90s, and Microsoft having to help Apple stay in business at one point (I think it was because, without Apple, they had no competition and might have been broken up due to having a monopoly on the market)

microsoft didnt actually not do windows 9 for the reason in this video, they didn't do it because there were some concerns that programs would interpret windows 9 as a windows 9.x version instead

About windows 9: in my opinion MS didn't wanted to be confused with windows 9x (95/98/me), In the same way, windows 10 update from march 2020 was named 2004 instead 2003 to not be confused with Windows Server 2003

Windows Update has been around for a lot longer than Vista, even to 98 The reason to can't name thing AUX, CON, COM1, etc is because these are pseudo files used in the command line to send data to certain devices.

If Microsoft made Windows 9, programs wouldn't run properly, because they would think they are running in Windows 9x

From my life experience, deja vu happens in a moment which lines up with something you dreamed about before, no matter how long ago. I came to this realization when I was at a summer camp 2 years ago. I was the 2nd day there and it was already time to sleep. I was sitting on my bed when I got deja vu and I swore that I had the exact same moment in a dream (probably when I was 6).

Folder names like con, com1 etc. are blocked for compatibility reasons with old software written primarly for ms-dos

You should have included Windows RT, even bigger failure than Windows phone, Windows RT 8/8.1 tablets with only apps available being from the store, failed for exactly the same reason as Windows Mobile that being, barely any apps, Windows 10 in S mode is basically the same concept but on x86 devices so you can opt out, interesting devices tbh, ARM processors with Tegra GPUs and all that, had both the original Surface RT and 2, and they would be great devices if they werent limited to the store. Also there is a leaked Windows 10 build for RT, which could also be an interesting point on the list.

Ever since I was fourteen, I was always intent on switching to linux. Windows is becoming outdated, gross, and invasive to say the least. Your best bets now-a-days for an operating system are all linux versions.

I switched to Debian Linux 6 months ago, and I haven't been as happy with an OS since Win XP SP2. I feel in control of every aspect of my system. Anything that bugs me can be changed, removed, or altered. Anything missing can almost certainly be added. All for free, and without telemetry and data mining. Highly recommended!

Windows Vista was definiteley worse than Windows Millenium. Both were horribles OS´s, but with ME you could at least boot the system.
