David Visards engine racing book, you can reface lifters adjusters etc, by using a piece of glass and sand in a figure 8 pattern. Works on the adjusters, creates a slight crown.

I think you can switch any gasoline engine over to diesel once you have it heated up. I believe back in wwii they used to setup the trucks with a fuel switch for when they got to the highway. Apparently its rather sooty. :)

Interesting. I seem to remember my dad that when he was a kid they would switch from gas to paraffin on their family car. It makes me wonder if the engine would run better on paraffin or diesel, and . It would be a quite a coincidence if carb's jets happen to be optimum for both gasoline and the other fuels. The block and the head needed to be skimmed quite a bit so this will be a high performance 4134!!! (7:1 ??)

Smashing job :-D it sounded in a right mess, but i'm sure it will run loverly once all the metal bits are back on :-D. Very handy C shaped spring compressor, no struggle at all. I do like a good engine rebuild, i'm no engineer but i've had to repair my own motorbikes and i feel i can trust it because i did it. It's knowing that nothing is wrong when you do it yourself. I tell lies to myself as well lol :-D. I also didn't have much money so diy was normal, same with electronics.

I am like you I have difficulty trusting other so called 'experts'. I have had some bad experiences with garage mechanics and practices.

Yeh, otherwise the KZread algorithm recognizes it and makes a copyright strike on the video.

I can't find part 2 of this video. Did you make one, and if so could you provide a link to the page. I liked your 1st video and would also like to watch all subsequent videos on this project.

Im curious to lnow why you didnt just grind the ridge off the top of the tappets and seeing as you chose to use new valves did you have the valve guides repalced? If you did replace the guides did you need to have them reamed to fit the new valve stems? Why wouldnt you be able to use original tappet faces if theyre smooth? I believe a machine shop with polish them to be convex again.

Old tappets were badly pitted with rust. New old stock valves and guides were inexpensive. I didn't see the need to ream new guides and valves from the same supplier.
