Yep I can m8 but I can only download Wii U transfer and Zelda saves to Wii U

I miss my old Wii. It was one of the original generation Wiis that had GCN backwards compatibility. Before it died, I had gotten into using hacks with an SD card and a bit of software called Gecko. Hearing the old Wii music is filling me with nostalgia. I had that old Wii up until around 2014 when it sadly bit the dust due to wear and tear.

@@PC10.8 Before my Wii gave up the ghost, it was having major problems with crashing, even without the Gecko codes enabled and with freshly-created save files on games. I played the shit out of that Wii, so that's probably why, I wore it out.

It's a shame all of this content is no longer going to ever officially be available anymore, hopefully all the WiiWare software can be archived by the Wii hacking community for people to experience in the future.

And this is why I hate when games are only digital distribution. Once it's gone, it's gone forever. Good luck to anyone with such a game in your childhood. When the retro craze finally reaches your generation, it will be like how doctor who fans feel about classic episodes that disappeared, only to be found in the rare occasion someone recorded it.

If we got rid of DRM we could share most PC titles with each other when the services go down. That's why I like GOG. If GOG ever dies I got plenty of game installers from them I could pass to friends. What I dread the most is game streaming services because you don't even get a copy of the game locally.

I remember downloading Super Mario Bros. 3 and Super Mario 64 from the Wii Shop Channel when i used to have a Wii but as of today. I now only have a Nintendo Switch.

The 3ds has the ability to download classic games. But hey the Switch has a shitty subscription service for three NES games a month!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Kill me.

Switch online is a little bit of an improvement because in human: fall flat their servers are laggy and when i create a server my server is laggy too but using nintendo's servers its not lagging anymore which is great and the subscription is cheap, 25 dollars for a year or a family membership for a year which is 50 dollars instead of having 2 accounts with the 25 dollar 1 year membership thats actually a great deal then having to spend 25, 50, 75 on each account.

PainlessLego123 That's not how it works. Nintendo doesn't have anything to do with servers of a third party/indie game. The developers make their own servers, not Nintendo. No one is complaining about the price. It's what the service gives us, three NES games a month. That's it. Not even SNES or N64. This would be fine if they had virtual console on Switch, but they don't.

I miss my wii.. I used to play it everyday after school.. it kept freezing and making a loud buzzing noise and eventually it stopped working and we took it to a repair shop, they said there was nothing they could do so we got rid of it. That was years ago, yet I'm still disappointed

Awesome video, and congratulations for reaching 9 years on your channel! I'm really sad to see the Wii Shop Channel go, but it won't stop me from "hacking" my Wii and installing more games onto it. Also, thank you for making a video on installing the Homebrew channel (about 2 years ago), it really helped me make my first step.

Quality content! The Wii always brings back memories for me

This is a really nice video ^^ In 2009 until like 2011, i relied on the wii for a lot of my internet browsing and youtube watching. as for the wii shop, it was something i definitely treasured! my wiiware ports of the first 3 ace attorney games are what introduced me to that franchise as a whole. 10 years since i first bought them on the wii shop and i'm still a huge fan. Definitely kinda sad to see this go.

This is a great video

back when the closure was announced it felt like such a long time before it would actually happen, but here we are, Wii Shop Channel's actual last day of service. (I never actually got anything from it because for YEARS our Wii had a pincode nobody knew, I only managed to disable it half a year ago when homebrew-ing it) (Also, I have a red 25th mario anniversary Wii which has Mario's first ever appearance in Donkey Kong installed with Virtual Console)

I did not know about the Wii shop closing until now. Thanks for telling me that I missed out on this. We almost never use our Wii.

I went on one last time Jan. 29. And man this video hit me hard, put me in the feels.

I really miss the Check Mii out Channel. It was my Sunday nightcap, just browsing all the top 100 Miis from the US and World Wide. It was a glimspe of popular culture over there years as you see new VG Characters, Cartoons, and celebrities pop in and out of the top spots. Also you could view the individual creators uploads and see entire sets of Miis that wouldn't make the spots. E.g you like this one Mario style, but you view the Creator and have the whole Mario Party series (in their style).

And here I'm in 2023, where the Nintendo e-shop for the 3DS and Wii U has been discontinued🥺

Man I remember when Fluidity was on the Wii Shop. Those were the days

don't have much memories from here except getting a fishing game from natsume and two genesis titles along with zelda, plus mario 3 and startropics 2, though i'm really gonna miss this channel..though wads can be downloaded via homebrew, it just doesn't hold the same feeling when getting a wii shop points card and listening to the great music while browsing through the list of games. R.I.P Wii Shop Channel.

update as of 2/3/2019: you actually can re-download software you have already purchased (for some weird reason) so don't worry about accidental deletion

Bump: The 3DS and Wii U eShops are also getting shut down, but boy will you NOT like this. Heed Modern Vintage Gamer's words on this one, honestly, since, or at least he said, "Nintendo didn't learn from the Wii Shop Channel closure". Also 11:15 o7 to Contra ReBirth.

The fact that this ended on my birthday makes it even more sad

I was never able to use this service, since my WiFi was over a phone line(and still technically is to this day), and since my parents did not want me or my sister purchasing things online when we were young.

Man I wish I knew about this when I was a kid. A lot of people say I didn't have a childhood because I've never played games like Super Mario.

I remember seeing Fire Mario multiple times, and even Mario and Luigi duo, too, once.

I didn't grow up with a WII as we were mainly a PS and Xbox family. But its always interesting to learn about other consoles

RIP Wii Shop Channel. I loved this ship channel and there some games exclusive to the Wii only such as WiiWare and Virtual Console. D;

All the Nintendo online content was so slow in north Europe that it was borderline unusable. Minutes of loading time for every single screen. Only bought one game ever, Retro City Rampage, as it did not require buying classic controller too. And then the console broke and it was lost purchase.

This is why the modding community is a great asset to rival company's money hungry close out of servers. The battle is not consumer vs company. But consumers vs servers and access time.

They need to let us redownload the content that we paid for till the end of time for future and still current digital download services. Digital should be guaranteed to be accessible.

The music makes me sad. I used this service a lot for many years from 2007 to around 2013 when I bought a Wii U.

It’s sad that this shut down now I can’t even go in the channels and check the weather or go on the internet 😭

about controllers, you can use also the nintendo classic mini controllers with virtual console titles, in fact when the wii shop was active for me it was woth having just a wii loaded with virtual console titles and some various controllers rather than buying a mini console just for that

The DSi Shop was also took down in 2016 😔, I still have my DSi and if you go there today you just see a way to migrate your data to a 3DS

im so sad i never got to experience it because of the internet connection being broken on my wii

You forgot to mention that when Nintendo made the Internet Channel free, they refused to refund those who bought it. So instead, they let you have a single NES game for free.

nintendo update servers were still up until a little ago, they no longer are, nintendo claimed it was for maintenance, but its been a month now :/

Wow, I haven't used a Wii in years, but it's sad that it's no longer supported. I have lots of great memories of playing Wii games as a kid. It was such a great console. It's crazy how Microsoft did the same thing this year's January, closing support for Windows 7. Now Nintendo and Microsoft are in the same boat where the Wii U and Windows 8.1 still have support, yet much less of their audience actually like those products. Maybe.

Someone should start a petition to bring wfc and wii shop back.

If it weren't for the Wii Shop Channel, then I wouldn't even know what emulation was. It was around 2008 when I got into emulation, when I downloaded Super Mario 64, Super Mario Bros. 2, and a few others from the WSC. Then, I found out about Project64, zsnes, and visualboyadvance when I wanted to play older games without getting so much Wii Points. I've been amused with emulation ever since.

The Wii Shop is kinda back up now. But you can't buy games. All you can get is Wii U Transfer tool and The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword Save data update channel. You can still also download previously downloaded things, but you can't buy anything :(

I use to use the internet channel all the time when I was younger
