Hopefully, you were lucky enough to see him live. His bass sound was like thunder - powerful, rich, full sound and definitely loud. This live album (Live at RAH) and Live at Leeds are the Who at their best. They ALWAYS put on a great live show. Roger was under rated as a lead vocalist.

Magic Bus is probably their best live song. Ever since Live at Leeds it has been a classic.
John is so badass on this.

Read Pete's autobiography. He never lets on how Dependent live performance varied only by what Daltrey brought to the show. Pete can play perfectly and perfectly wierd 50 X in a row. All th epressure is on the "Sidemen". Acks

I love Pete! I do have an affinity for those who play the ol juice harp - A surprising one I discovered recently was Chris Robinson from The Black Crowes - song is Been a Long Time (Waiting on Love). Also Aimless Peacock is crazy good on the musical progression - give it a listen. Reminds me a bit of Loggins & Messina back in the day.

Roger is the best front man, strong-powerful-funny. Best band of all times 😍
Started off so modern and strange, yet became one of my favorite takes on the song by the end. What a truly dynamic band. Just saw them live in Philadelphia at the Wells Fargo Center. They were incredibly good, it's uncanny for their age. His voice sounded no different that it did here. And their sound was truly remarkable. They had a whole orchestra too. Was fantastic.
John is such a beast. He's playing the fastest out of all of them and is the most stoic. 😂
This just knocks my socks off ... STILL! Perfection!!!!!!!
John always said the song he most hated to play live was Magic Bus because it bored him to death just basically hammering away on his E string for 10 minutes. As a bass player myself I can't say I blame him. But WTF! it's still one of the Who's best songs live, right? So it's really cool that on this tour from 1999 the band really spiced up the ol' Bus and you can hear The Ox lending a kind of Cool Swagger bass line to it. And it F''img Rocks! Thank you for posting,,been looking for good version of this for going on 20 years now.

pure post Moon magic. Absolutely blistering version. Right up there with Leeds for me.
Holy Shit! Eternal gratitude to Pete and Roger for what they gave us.
Omfg what Roger does with a harmonica is frigging magic Jesus how does he not pass out singing and playing that thing flawlessly right after the another haha Pete looks impressed in the end lol
j'adore ce groupe.........
maximum rythm and blues
Incredibile band, grandissimi
The sound mix is astounding!
Townshend-sonic genius!
The who one of the last of true Blue bands
I know Pete, and John especially, hated doing the Bus, but man they always seem to be having fun at the end of every version they did it live. MISS the OX!!!

Thanks Pete.
Holy shit entwistle is fucking insane.
1:06 "Nooo!" con el tiempo como la enemistad entre Daltrey y Townshend se volvió un chiste y ahí esta la creatividad; el que lo hayan usado en una canción "menor" a dos voces. excelente!
John aint much to watch; but he is the bomb!!! this whole concert video really accents Johns playing. a must have

Awesome
You know you're good when you can rely on the crowd to finish the lyric. And also when you're The Who, then you're good too
Unbelievable!!!!
Harp is nice
My Favorite band frontmen are Roger and Jim Morrison!!
Hats off to who recorded this, i suspect the mighty bob pridden had a hand in it 😂

It Doesn’t get any better than the WHO!!
It's just like Magic Bus by The Who, just without the melody, rhythm, and Keith Moon's playing the wood blocks.
John makes most of these songs come alive, totally
Amazing version, how they made it so funky
entwistle so underated just the best bass
Ese bajo es colosal.
The song That John Entwistle hated the most to play on Bass.
Townsend said he hates performing this song,we all like it. It sounds like it's backward chords, kind of like walking upstairs backwards, but that's what makes The Who unique.

+DesertDigger1 Pete actually said it's his favourite song to perform! Watch the 30 years of maximum R&B DVD, it's on there...he just says here that sometimes it is awful when they play this version because the audience doesn't get in the mood or it doesn't swing enough

6 жыл бұрын
He may have very well said that in an interview. However, the job of a bandmate is to play it like you love it, no matter your personal feelings towards it. And Entwistle makes the best of that "one note", with his signature thundering pentatonic riffs up and down the fretboard, bending that one note into one hundred. A good musician can do that. But of course, you probably wouldn't know about that ;-)
@kj6qvb
6 жыл бұрын
Just because you might be The Who's biggest groupie, you don't know shit about playing bass or being in a band. It's called a "pedal tone" and has been the foundation of many great rock and roll songs. John plays that one note and many more during this performance with his unique style, better than you will ever hear or understand. Try again.
