A player so aggressive, capable of such barely contained fury, that he appears to compel the instrument to submit to him ... More than simply a musician, Townsend is a force of nature.

Love how after years and years, he still performs the essence of his music. Could you imagine anyone else playing Magic Bus, just them and the guitar? No one, but no one, else could do it.

I think that Peter Townshend is one of the most creative men in music. I've followed his career from the start. Who plays like this? Who writes like this? Love the Fender '52 Telecaster. It is the epitome of electric guitar, to my thinking.

There are only a few guitarists that really nailed doing lead guitar inside of their rhythm playing at the same time i.e. Townshend, Prince, Hendrix, Curtis Mayfield, Cory Wong. It's such an underated talent. Too many people consider "lead" as melodies and solos and "rhythm" as riffs and chords. The best guitarists mix the two together at the same time

The great thing about Pete is that he recognizes the artistic significance of the "tool" of his trade, and vice versa. This Fender is beautiful, especially in the right hands, BUT can also explode into shards and splinters, again, IF in the right hands. There will never be another Peter Townshend.

This is the guitar leant to me by Pete Townsend for a gig at Twickenham Polytechnic in 1978 . I was the lead singer and rhythm guitarist in the band called THE SKUNKS! I broke this guitar at the show and it cost me a lot of money to get it fixed back up through Petes guitar techs and luthiers! It sounded brilliant especially through a fender amp. I must be the only guitarist that can say I smashed up one ot Petes guitars!! Gerry Lambe xxxxx The Skunks UK 1977
