Pamela Des Barres wrote on her autobiography that Keith never got over the death of his driver/bodyguard. Keith ran over him with a car when he was trying to save his wife and friends from the fury of angry skinheads. He blamed himself of his death. Keith had always been the unpredictable member of the band, but that incident really send him on the downward spiral.

My favourite group. Arguably the best rock band. That bit younger than Stones and Beatles, they hit their full stride as Beatles broke up. Certainly less prolific as they relied on Townshend almost entirely as writer. Certainly not as popular nor as good a pop group as Beatles. Stones were a different genre as they focused on mining American roots music. The Who were far more about urban British young frustrated males children of post WW2 PTSD UK. Raise you... The Kinks

I have the original vinyl Who's Next and Who by Numbers my fav Who albums..those albums had the best most underrated Who songs and now thanks to top American crime dramas some tracks live again as if they were new songs at the time these shows were launched..but unfortunately John wasnt able to enjoy that new success with his sudden passing on the new tour launch, nor Keith RIP both of you 😢 this show was refreshing to watch on TV last week amongst all the rubbish politics and corona virus stuff plugging out the airwaves...I couldnt believe they put something decent on at a reasonable time...well done BBC.

One of the things people don't realise about the who is that there will be that odd song that Roger fucking connects with, well there's countless who tunes you could say that with actually. But a stand out example is this. Roger perfectly interprets Petes tunes. Writing this I've even kinda along the way just realised how much roger gets into these tunes personally, The Song Is Over always gets me to that point im on the bridge of tears and many off Whos Next, but I've got back into quadrophenia recently, and the story being so relatable to me has yet again just swept me off my feet, best fucking concept album ever bar none could discuss it all day

I'm 68. In high school, my friends were big Who fans. I wasn't a fan. I passed going to see them at the Pontiac Silverdome. It was just today I appreciated the genius of Pete Townsend.

I don't know what got up their bum (or nose, more likely) but these 77 Kilburn songs all burn really hot, and they're playing and sounding just great. This was all just in a sound studio, right? No audience to speak of. They're killing it and then so-long Keith and so-long the Who.

No one knows what it's like To be the bad man To be the sad man Behind blue eyes And no one knows what it's like To be hated To be fated to telling only lies But my dreams they aren't as empty As my conscience seems to be I have hours, only lonely My love is vengeance That's never free No one knows what its like To feel these feelings Like I do And I blame you No one bites back as hard On their anger None of my pain and woe Can show through But my dreams they aren't as empty As my conscience seems to be I have hours, only lonely My love is vengeance That's never free No one knows what its like To be mistreated, to be defeated Behind blue eyes An no one know how to say That they're sorry and don't worry I'm not telling lies But my dreams they aren't as empty As my conscience seems to be I have hours, only lonely My love is vengeance That's never free No one knows what its like To be the bad man To be the sad man Behind blue eyes

Growing up in the South in the 1990s, you don't know your schizophrenic bf is the object of this song. I grew up in the in the shadow of Rob Zombie movies. And I love him for it. People abandoned us. In the South. Behind Blue Eyes.
