That what got my friend. I told him Tories are toast from the polls. That no pinch of salt was going to fix it, but he still voted to get Tories out. As the head of the Somerset Capital Management LLP hedgefund, he consistently spent his time in government undermining any motions that would otherwise damage his bottom line (environmental legislation, energy nationalisation, etc.) He invested in Sberbank and profited from the subsidies provided to it by the Russian government during the war in Ukraine - Which although not technically war profiteering, is very well near adjacent to it. It was sad to see Rishi Sunak apologizing to the public for the Conservative Party's losses, signaling the party's decline. From my perspective, Sunak's selection as Prime Minister was a strategic move to restore credibility and stability both within the UK and on the global stage. His image as a competent and calm leader sharply contrasted with Boris Johnson's erratic tenure. This shift highlights a broader pattern in British politics where leaders are often used for their immediate utility and then discarded when they no longer serve their purpose. The British political landscape frequently leverages individuals for short-term gain, only to cast them aside once their perceived value diminishes.
