The crying dog noises from the prison scene (I think) reverberate in my soul even after almost seventeen years. The predators were also super scary to me as a kid, especially the bear. Great game though.

Why do theses dogs look like eaten an entire hive of bees? How did The dog Island be even weirder than Digimon?

There's actually a weird story to that. Back in the 2000s, prints of dogs, as well as cards were sold in that style. Basically the main person who did it, a Japanese photographer, used a fisheye lens to make them look goofy like that. And it eventually got branded under "the dog and friends" to sell. The dog Island is a weird branding branch for that matter, as a videogame based off of photos is crazy, but the models were trying to emulate the goofy fisheye look

bro i was OBSESSED with this game the disc was probably scratched though because the moment the dog got on the boat the game would always just. stop on the loading screen and never finish loading. we also didn't have a memory card so of course i played through that first part like a hundred times.

No joke, this was my favourite game as a kid and I'm always down for more The Dog Island content

Can you believe this is based on a plush toy franchise? (yeh u probably can) These big headed dog plushies were a fad for a while back in the 2000s, I remember them being in Happy Meals at one point.

i LOVE this game so much, in 5th grade i tried to completely plagarize the story in full detail- its been 10 years and i still play the game on the same disc!!!

My folks had to ban video games during the school week bc I couldn't stop playing this. That guitar based soundtrack lives rent free in my heart. To say THE DOG Island is a core part of my childhood would put it very lightly! 💙🐕

I used to have the Doberman plush in your thumbnail lol I don’t think I ever played the game though.

I've never played this game, and right now, there's no way that I can play it because I'm on vacation. But thankfully, I still have a Wii U at home (Even though I hardly play it anymore. I only played it again to play Pokken Tournament, after my first year of college.), so I could find a cheap eBay listing after my vacation is over. Only question is how long it would take for the game to arrive.

Also, if you’re looking to play another wacky kids game from the mid/late 2000s, I highly recommend trying to pick up a copy of the original Fossil Fighters for Nintendo DS… I’ll just say this, it’s one of my favorite games of all time and I just impulsively ordered The Dog Island because the way that you talk about this game is the same way I feel about that one 😁

And as for fossil fighters, I always wanted to play it but never got the chance!! I’m a huge fan of pokemon so any “monster-catcher” or “monster-raiser” are right up my alley :3

I brought my Wii to my college dorm, and ordered this off of ebay after i heard the insane reviews. Everytime I would play my roomates would trickle in to do work while watching/just watch, and the ones that weren't there would need to be filled in on the insane story if they missed a session. I could never skip the intro because we all sung the insane song together. for the ending temple i invited lots of friends + all my roomates to watch me fight the T rex and literally save the world from the meteors. i cannot reccomend this insane game enough

THE WAY I GASPED WHEN I SAW THIS BEING UPLOADED TEEHEEEE I feel so happy to see other people know this game and enjoyed it. I played it as a child but never completed it, and decided to do so like, a year ago! It's not perfect but I love it so much, it's so charming! Petasi is my favorite! I wish the magical aspects of this universe were explored sliiightly more, but ig them remaining kinda mysterious leaves a lot of room for imagination!! I wanna draw lil Ancs so much and it would be fun to imagine what their world is like. This video reminded me I still have to play catz 2 which is a very similar game in terms of gameplay, and there's also some magic involved, but I don't remember the plot really well,,, But anyways AWESOME VIDEO AS ALWAYYYSSS

Oh yeah I absolutely loved the magical elements!! I wish we could’ve gotten to explore the anc world, but I think leaving it a mystery is fun too, it really leaves the world to your imagination. My favorite character was probably Henry!! He’s so goofy and I loved just has chill and laidback he was, I squealed a little when he gifted the Protag one of his paintings (plus the Santa hat is super cute) I never knew that about Catz 2 btw!! I might have to take a look at it if it’s anywhere similar to dog island, cause playing dog island was such an absolute hoot I wish there was more for me to play-

@@toma-neko Oooh I don't remember much of Henry but I remember he was a chill silly little guy! He's cute indeed! As for Petz Catz 2 yeah from what I remember it has identical gameplay, like, IDENTICAL (I believe there's a Petz Dogz game too but there are zero differences with the cats one if I remember well) but I don't remember much of the dialogues and plot, except that there's an evil wolf using a magic hat for bad things or smth,,, I don't remember if it's as fun and wacky as dog island, maybe it has less personality? Had a slight preference for dog island as a kid, because I thought it was more colorful and I was really invested in the story! I hope it's a fun time for you if you ever decide to try it!! 💖 (I am using "remember" way too much here wow)

Speaking of weird ol dog games, there's always A Dog's Life, but that game is a goddamned Crack Fic. Even compared to random murder dog in Dog Island, so not sure if its appropriate for this channel's vibes. ​@@toma-neko One thing I will say is that its been YEARS, so idk if any of these might have some surprise problematic lines or something, and if so, sorry. (I usually loke to 100% vet and warn my queer friends on these kind of things, but most of these weren't even my copies in the first place back in the day and there's no way I'm going to be able to play all of these again any time soon) Except Stretch Panic, that's kinda the point- its an oddity in how such a bizarre piece with such clumsy metaphors for teen self-esteem issues made it into a retail product.

I would look into snapdragon more in depth if I was more interested in high guardian spice. I feel like there’s not a lot I can add to the series that others have yet to talk about, but even then I had a hard time getting into the show. Thank you for the suggestion though!
