Read his current interview in GQ it's online, he talks about all of it. He detests Hollywood and the Grammy's and the machine and anything superficial. Each of his albums are very different, he doesn't fulfill a quota for anyone but himself. I love his early stuff, he is just a work in progress that honors his authenticity and his alter ego(s). His creativity is nothing short of mind blowing

What album would you recommend getting first trying get into his music?

honestly I went through beauty behind the madness before trilogy. Wicked Games and High for this and The Morning were some of the songs I knew , but I didn’t complete hearing trilogy until I finished beauty behind the madness. After that I heard all of starboy. But it depends on which of Abel’s styles you prefer. Trilogy is , and will always be the top for me , but you really need to dig deep into the lyrics and the beat to actually enjoy it and understand it. If you’re going to start with BBTM I suggest Dark Times , Angel , Acquainted , there are more but I’m just naming a few.

Trilogy isn’t really an album it’s just all his 3 mixtapes combined

I remember when I was laying at my parents house and my brother was playing WoW and I asked him what’s he’s listening to. He answered that he just discovered some random artist on KZread and we agreed that he will be huge one day. Here we are. Thank you weeknd for great times. You deserve all the fame and respect

Nostalgic. I was in a dark place as a 16 year old listening to this. I was doing drugs and lost in PTSD. The Weeknd’s music literally was there with me through the good and bad and was the only way I could heal was through his music, we connected it’s like he knew my pain. He will forever be my favorite ❤️

Theres a difference between Justin and Abel.Justin had a huge advantage,he had usher as his mentor and had a lot of support but for Abel he was homeless and was wondering around in Toronto until Drake found out about him and everything was history afterwards

the hills is pretty dark too just cause it was put too much on the spotlight doesnt make the song any brighter it just brightens the way for the artist to create more and more content. the triology weeknd and the abel who created the kiss land is making the star boy.
