    really love the character tables in this, it seems like you could have a really character-focused game with this system.

    When rolling 3d6 for character generation you are not doing any math, you are rolling to find the lowest of the 3 dice rolls.

    As i understand it there are no "old school" ability scores in Vaarn/knave. The ability is a bonus and defence. I think you are getting stuck on old habits from other osr stuff.

    More stuck on the fact that in Vaarn it never explicitly states that but does reference increasing Ability scores. I'm pretty sure we say that all it needs is one line to make that a little clearer, as does Knave.

    The 15 hunter rolled on strength does not matter. He rolled 2 as the lowest number. That gives a bonus of +2 and defense of 12. When raising the strength at advancement, strength goes from 2 to 3, therefore the bonus is +3 and defense is 13.
