The Way of The Warrior - Conquering our delusions | A Buddhist perspective with RIO HELMI

THE WAY OF THE WARRIOR - Conquering Our Delusions.
This Thangka painting, one of the oldest in my collection, represents the Buddha Manjushri, who represents the highest wisdom understanding the true nature of reality. The sword symbolizes cutting through the darkness of the mind, and all the subsequent personal delusions. It is central to Buddhist practice to understand that all our difficulties, suffering and dissatisfaction stem from our own inner confusion and subsequent obscurations. It is vital for us to realize that these obscurations are not permanent, and only subsist on our clinging to them. So, ultimately, the sword is to cut through our own clinging and grasping.
Over the last 35 years Rio also has received direct
Mahayana Buddhist lineage teachings from H.H. the Dalai Lama and Venerable Dagpo Lama Rinpoche amongst others.
Rio Helmi is also a renowned Indonesian photographer, writer, and long time resident of Ubud. He has been published in various international magazines (Vanity Fair, Geo, Time, New York Times, Vogue, Tempo, amongst others) and has also published several large format photo books.
