Haha, it’s happening quickly for me too.

Danny, Blake et al.: As an almost former life-long mountaineer who climbed actively for over 50 years, I want you to know how much this channel means to me so that I can vicariously experience your adventures (and my former exploits). There will be a time when you can no longer climb (or descend) and you will treasure the memories you are amassing while you are still young and fit enough to do these things. Don't stop until you have to and build as many wonderful memories as possible while you can. I save your channel for late at night before retiring when I can enjoy 15-20 minutes of wonderful memories of what it felt like to be on top of the world, connected to everything, and soaring with wings. Petzl, you wanna be able to see that puke fly as far down the mountain in as much clarity as possible. If not Petzl, night vision should be able to display the puke in a cool green high definition.

Keep in mind, they did not only finish the Wurl, but they did it while taking extra time to film all this. Insane, very impressive.

Having grown up in Utah gives me an added appreciation for this. That was very impressive fellas - great work.

Smashing all that pizza and pop for dinner, was true mediocre amateur behaviour. I salute you

Side Note: AllTrails’s version of WURL is loaded with 1 star reviews. Apparently while attempting this route in 2021 a 26-year-old experienced hiker died after falling 200 feet. The hiker’s friends subsequently left multiple bad reviews and were trying to get the route removed from AllTrails.

Proud effort. I pulled the plug at 15:20 just before Pfeiff many years ago. I have regret not toughing it out but my knees were killing me.

Absolutely crazy! My feet kill me after 12 miles on an easy groomed trail. Those sharp rocks look horrible! Congrats on finishing the WURL.

I did Pfeifferhorn two weeks back and I thought that was hard. This is another level. Great job guys! Stay safe!

Pfeifferhorn is a good time! I plan to return to SLC this summer to take on the WURL. I am hoping a year of ultra running under my belt will assist, but at the end of the day this route is a monster.

Man, I love that we have mountains like this literally 10 - 20 minutes drive out of the city. Those are some razor thin ridgelines up there.

@@axemenace6637 The WURL is in Salt Lake City, UT. The PURL is in Provo, UT. About 35 minutes apart. Both ridgelines run almost directly above the cities. The views from up there are pretty cool.

Yes that's why I lost my best employ to the area ( from north Texas) .He is still there 35 yrs later.

Visiting SLC from Oregon and I just did the Bullion Divide today which overlaps the WURL from Sugarloaf Mtn until White Baldy. Was great to get some perspective on exactly what Danny and his Mediocre Amateur crew does. Put simply, I nearly shit my pants just on that "short" section. This is my first time in the Wasatch and holy damn these are impressive ridges. Big kudos to Danny and the crew - I've been watching MA content for a couple years and it was really neat to explore the mountains you often feature. And to put in perspective just how tough these ridge linkups are (especially for folks like me who have no prior experience in the Wasatch). Cheers and keep up the excellent content!

Impressed you could complete such a long and (sometimes) dangerous route. Thankful you all made it safely...

Incredibly interestingly intense.

I hiked up to the Pfeifferhorn and traversed the ridge and dropped down to Lake Hardy then down Bell's Canyon. That boulder field in Bells is ridiculous. Good on you guys!

You guys are BAD A!!!! I've done sections of the WURL but never had enough hair to attempt the whole thing. Well done, with a very respectable time and great form! Thanks for the demo on the WURL hurl Danny!

Thanks! I spent hours thinking about how I was going to capture that hurl. It was probably the only thing keeping me going.

I attempted the WURL a number of years ago. I was pretty confident at first, but by the time I got to Devils Castle I was moving so slow I knew I'd never make it so I called it a day.

Incredible achievement! I am hoping to do this someday. Finding some willing partners seems like it will be tough. Planning on doing the individual portions before trying the WURL in its entirety.

@@LoveStallion My guess is that they met at Grizzly. Its a pass about 1.5 miles away from a road. I'm sure the lady hiked it up to them. That pass is about half way for the route.

Having watched alot of these videos and see how super human they are. To see everyone struggle like this tells me I will NEVER do this trip.

Or you could take a bivy sack and have a delightful 2-3 day ridge wander. Each to their own, I guess :-)

I almost threw my stamp collection away in preparations for these types of adventures... not so fast my friends, there are rare stamps to be hunted down.

Rewatching this again and I love it. Your mental toughness hep me push here in CO 14ers! I’m curious after consuming all the Mediocre Amateur content and wanted to know from Danny - usually when I feel weak stomach I’d eat something that’s light on my stomach like a smoothie or rice and beans or some quinoa. Pizza or burger is the last thing that comes to my mind although I love it. Why consume that in the most critical locations when you need the most mental and physical output?

I hope y'all try a through hike of the Koolau Summit Trail in Oahu at some point. Would be dope to see a video of that.

Two questions. How did you get into this? How long does it take your bodies to recover from this?

Looks like a really great trail... that I would not like to do alone or in the dark.... I really enjoy these videos. I have to wonder where these boys live that they can get to such far flung places so often.

Hey Dean, this particular place isn’t so far flung. Right above Salt Lake City. We all live within 10-30 miles of the WURL

Inspiring to say the least.

I did this ridge hike once in the nineties. Who am I kidding? I live in my parents basement. You guys have what's called gallows humor. A very dark humor that comes out in moments of deep despair. Never lose that.

Good job..the pain really comes through on this one! I have a 60-mile ridge run (much more runnable) on tap for 2018. I will prepare very thoroughly. Keto/LCHF diet is a huge advantage on this type of thing. Keep it real and stay safe!

I did that WURL in 35yrs 42 seconds. YEW!!

I'll add that route to my list of things to avoid, like horseback riding, bungee jumping, skydiving and the like. Part of my philosophy is to not put myself in undue peril when I have other options. Still, I think you guys would enjoy looking for sasquatch in the Wasatch, good change of pace and interesting enough for me.

So rad! I'd love to attempt this soon! Any explanation as to why you guys started in the afternoon, rather than the early morning? I can't imagine why the morning wouldn't be preferred, but if there's some reason it should be, I'd love to know!

We thought it would be nice to do the more technical sections (slc twins to superior and af twins to lone) in the light. Also, Blake and I did Catherines pass to devils castle in the middle of the day and the heat was brutal. So we hoped to avoid that. Still got caught in the dark near Cristo so I'm not sure how successful our planning was.

Gotcha. I've ran the Alta loop with Sunset, Catherine's, Devils, and Baldy all tied in one. Didn't think the heat was too bad, but then again it was early season when the temps only got so high. Psyched to build up to it in the coming years, definitely a bucket list item!

Yeah, that's always the effect with the wide angle lens on a Go Pro,but any way you look at it, that's razor thin.

Really wish you guys put aerial maps and routes with your movement to give us an idea
