Oh I think Okafor should of been more of a major character... killing him off in episode 1 after he reveals a plan to over take the leadership with Rick and pearl.... will have to see how that makes sense

It was obviously Michonne shooting the chopper down. it had the same spiral whistle sound as what she shot at the hoard in the preview. I knew it was her right away!! Soo good!!!

They been killing it with these 3 new spin-off and this series definitely the best of the twd universe

I liked Donald although that scene was fuckin awesome it still sucks he went so soon. I will say, Fear used to add one character per episode, try to make you care, then kill them in an attempt to make us sad but it often fell flat. This show did it so right.

An absolute amazing premiere, and during the hand choping scene you'll notice that Rick is the only one on a leash probably because he's the only one who's ever tried to escape multiple times, the scene at the end where the chopper crashes I love how it was shot from the POV within the chopper, my two 2 issues with this episode would be a lack of Major General beal and the thorn character I couldn't understand what she was saying about 80% of the time LOL.. Rick being wanted because he's a strong leader and fighter is like Negan being kept by the doma because he's also a strong leader and fighter

I always watch TWD with subtitles on because I often have trouble understanding what they are saying. It helps A LOT.

I couldn't understand half of her lines either, that accent is so annoying. Otherwise, great episode.

The pacing is very movie-like and I like it. Best show ever.

This is the review we've all been waiting months to see! Andrew Lincoln is on another level when it comes to his acting skills. We should also credit Scott M Gimple for writing such an amazing episode that was perfect from beginning to end.

OMG Rick was awesome. I almost lost my mind when I saw Rick looking out the window. It was huge! The GOAT is back. Man I missed him. Then to see him dreaming about Michonne was the best and the ending almost gave me a stroke when they looked at each other oh S**T! I want more. Thank God for Amc+! Dan loved your opening 5 yrs younger haha too cool. Thanks for the review buddy! "TOWL"! I think Okafur is coming back not the last we saw of him. I hope im rite!

i’m so emotionally destroyed after this episode I’ve been following Rick since the beginning of the show and knowing all that he’s been through all that he’s lost all that he’s gained like seeing him being treated the way he’s being treated really breaks my heart when he was being held by a leach what is like he was some type of dog I was like all heck no no episode has made me feel this level of emotion since like maybe Negan’s backstory like oh my God this was a really intense

Fantastic. This was as cinematic and movie-like as Days Gone Bye. Seeing Rick so desperate to leave and slowly giving up that hope was heartbreaking. I have so many thoughts and emotions about seeing him back. They really knocked this out of the park. Also, I can’t believe most of the trailers came from this episode other than the Michonne scenes which I assume will happen next week. So episodes 3-6 are pretty much a complete blank slate! Oh man I’m so excited for this series.

Just finished it, and well, most all of those questions we all had got answered in the first episode! That was surprising. And they found each other. Ypu can tell Andrew worked his butt off to be so fit for this storyline. Loved this premier. Thats all I've got right now. Thanks Dan!

The first episode confirms that World Beyond or at least a recap of it must be seen before starting the ones who live also RIP Okafor he was a good guy. Good people in CRM tend to die too soon like Dennis, Huck (from world beyond), Okafor (from the ones who live), Bennett (from fear)...

The perfect introduction to the #Richonne series! The GOAT is back!! I loved the fantasy that Rick has meeting Michonne, liked a page out fan fic!

Amazing right out of the gate. It was cinematic, it definitely kicked the story in gear and I cannot wait for next Sunday.

The only bad thing was Rick chopped his hand off, really for no reason. Just to get caught immediately. How could he of thought he'd get away? Should of shown an escape attempt where he was close to getting away. I loved this episode! It was great. So good. Loved the dream michone too.

It wasn't for no reason,the entire episode was to show how far he is willing to go to get back to Michonne,he chopped it off knowing he wouldn't get caught,also he would have lost that hand to Michonne,it literally saved him

@@Iletyoulive I'm saying he didn't accomplish much for it. He got a few feet away and was tased. I bet they could of made a get away scene where he got a little further. But doesn't matter, time wise, yea it shows how far he'd go. Cause I didn't know he'd do anything to get home...🙄

This whole episode I was literally shaking with excitement. How crazy to show that in the first couple minutes. Also I love how they properly show just how much he tried to escape so we understand why he never came back to the walking dead. Andy gave such a good performance. I felt such sadness seeing what his life had become. A part of me was interested to see what he would make the CRM with Oakafore but that ending was so good. And unexpected too. I hope this show l has more surprises like that.

Sucks to see Okafur go so soon, and by Michonne! He could have been a huge help & wanted to change the CRM. I liked him. But it was a great premiere! Rick was amazing as always. And how they reunited was def diff then I thought. But it’s def only 6 so it makes sense why they would reunite so soon. Anyway, crazy to be watching Rick again! Loved it! P.S. only Rick had a leash, lol, no one else had them bec they didn’t try or want to escape…and then he cauterized it on a burning walker! It was insane! And I think at the end Rick also figured out what happened to Omaha by the CRM. (Okafur said something) May def be important! Be kind to each other, you never know what someone is going through, one kind word can make all the difference ❤

Awesome premiere! Very cool to know now that Okafor was one of the people behind the Atlanta bombings. Beale mentioned how Okafor didnt bomb Philly and instead killed those 4000 soldiers at that other place, but I do wonder if he knew about what Okafor did before that since he seemed disgusted by the talk of the bombings 🤔 Speaking of Okafor…his ending was crazy 😂 probably one of the franchise’s best one-episode characters

Seeing Rick hold a grenade after Rick holding a Grenade in season 1 of The Walking Dead was so comical 😂

Bravo!!! Better then I was even hoping for! Fast paced, SO much info on the CRM and Rick's history there for 1 episode!! So emotional but also badass!!! Mind blown 🤯

My only complaint is i wanted the opening credits or whatever to be more like the original walking dead and the original theme song

I really just wanted to hear the original theme song I don't care about the visuals because they were cool but I think the original theme song is the best

That was a pretty amazing episode. I will have rewatch to pick up some small details I was surprised Okafor died in this episode, (although it did call back memories of Crazy Dog sniping Travis on Fear) I was expecting Michonne to have a similar appearance at the end of episode 2, so it was only a minor surprise

This was one of the best pieces of media ive ever seen period. It was so intense im burnt out in terms of television.

It was absolutely AWESOME that they "took the edge off" of our anticipation 8 minutes in with that dream sequence. Just to see them in a scene together regardless of how they dressed it up gives total life. Damn it! See, I was wrong. I commented on somebody's channel that nah, that ain't Michonne. That chick has braids, Michonne has dreads. Well, Surprise surprise. SURPRISE SURPRISE!!!!!🤣😅

They had 3-4 major plotpoints this ep and even though I avoided most leaks they somehow managed to spoil it all before it aired. 1. Rick chopes his hand off---- Andy spoils it. 2. CRM bombing Atlanta and....---- they put it in the trailer 3. The reunion----- leaked in a german trailer (I think everyone saw that since noone knew it was a leak) Though I will say Okafor's death shocked me and I didn't expect the reunion so soon. Even if I immediately knew what it was after seeing that shot from the trailer. 😂

This is the best content from TWD that we’ve every had hands down

I was very impressed and I'm a cynical SOB. As someone who deals with depression, I really felt like they conveyed Rick's turmoil well, being alone in a room and feeling totally numb and hopeless is really how it is, far more powerful than any dialogue ever could be. I really felt like we got to know the real Rick who died way before Season 9, let's be honest. The reunion was handled well too, avoiding all the usual cliches. Solid 9/10

Masterpiece premiere. Maybe I’m crazy, but can we put in up there with No Sanctuary? Yes- it’s 5 years in the making, and the emotions might be a little too high, but my god I loved this episode. Thanks for getting the review up so early Dan!

Really Enjoyed episode! I was suprised that they reunited them so soon but loved the way they did it. I was sad to see Okafor was killed. He was looking to be a great character. I think that is 1st time Rick has talked about his childhood so I thought that was cool! I am glad they are bringing things from other spinoffs. Looks like we get Michonne's side next wk and then we should move forward. There is so many directions they can go. I am excited to see where its going!!

Okafor reminds me of Comicbook Mercer. He is basically the Mercer of the CRM who wants to overthrow Beale. My god Beale is gonna be a very manipulative villian and play poker with Rick and Michonne. I think Jadis will betray Beale and Join Rick and Michonne when she finds out who Beale really is Jadis will get killed by Beale. I think the Omaha destruction was a message for Rick. Rick is gonna know Beale is serious about hurting everybody in Alexandria.

Yesterday I finished watching the episode and what a fucking good start, I almost cried with the scene of Rick committing suicide, and what a fucking performance in general, but above all Andy's, I don't know why he hasn't won an Emmy. Amazing episode, I think this will be the best spinoff.

Watched this episode 3 times already...had a great time with family and friends and they all loved it. This episode was OUTSTANDING and I can't wait for next week. Andrew Lincoln is the BOMB, he always was..... he's a LEGEND 💯💯💯♥️. Well we know he was gonna either chop his hand to escape or maybe he got bitten and chopped it. I knew it wouldn't be General Beale cutting his hand off like some others kept saying. I knew Beale definitely took a liking to Rick👍👍👍. So much was insane in this episode, and Donald getting blown up DAMN. Obviously did Donald even know the difference between A or B??? Wish Donald got to stay on longer. Can't wait to see this whole story. Now we understand why Rick finally decided to stay ...to protect the ones he love. I thought Michonne shot the chopper down..... It was a great remix from the comics on Rick's hand I gave it a 10+++++/10

This episode had Gimple written all over it and it was actually nice. People forget that he made s4 to 6 just as he made 7 and 8 which weren't as great. It was nice seeing his ways back. And I gotta say they gave some extra for the actors for sure bc they acted their asses off. Like all of em. The opening and ending was brilliant. This is something I missed from twd. It has weight again. You see it starting with a shocker and ending with one as well. It was great. Only thing is that it felt sometimes like they were explaining too much with a slower pace and like it was an ep just to catch up to current time. But that's the least since it was needed, the acting made up for it, and the dialog was good too. So whenever I felt like it was gonna drag, these things helped it out. And let's not forget that it was an hour long ep so for that it was really great. Overall I'd give it a 9/10 just for the fact that it was a lot of slower catching up in the middle but for shock values and acting and cinematography it's the best you can get! And this is only the beginning.

@@AFuller2020 Nah. I just miss the old twd. For me the best was in s5 and we got elements back. And if you think about it maybe he screwed up later, but he did get those 17 million watching in the first place since he was there since s4 as showrunner...

I see the book that Morgan had,The art of peace made a cameo lol.

I overall liked the episode but only thing i didn't like was showing the same scene twice of Rick about to cut his throat from the opening scene. I would have preferred a longer opening scene starting where he is a consignee killing walkers in the WOODSSS and cutting to the title sequence when his hand gets cut off and gets caught.

I got to hand it to them really Dan 😂

There were too many "little" coincidences... Like Michonne taking only Rick's mask off

Omg I loved this episode the end when Rick and Michonne finally reunited their faces when they saw each other for the first time after so many years I clapped my hands with tears in my eyes. Wow he excatly cut off his hand to escape crazy stuff. I haven't read none of the comics don't think I want to the show is awesome enough I think. Please no spoilers for second season please I seen some before the season one premiered. The dream Rick was having about his wife Michonne was lovely Five stars rated five stars

So why did Okafor during the time jump to the present at the end seem to imply that it’s been a year since Omahas destruction. World Beyond is 10 years into the outbreak and the present is supposed to take place 12-13 years in or so.

The story about Ricks father was unexpected and added to the episode big time it was so much packed into this 1 episode i loved it

Q&A: Do you think Beale created the apocalypse? Also for people who have never seen walking dead is ones who live a good enough jumping on point? Since it's really referencing all the shows and had a mini recap at the beginning.

This episode was everything I ever wanted, and more. I thought about what this first episode (movie at the time) would have been, almost every day, for the last 5+ years. Yet, they somehow exceeded my expectations.

I enjoyed seeing Rick back and I like the movie look but it was alittle fast paced. I wanted to see more of trapped Rick and a few of his escape attempts. I like the music and action but I think the reunion is a little early. I was hoping it came at the end of episode 2.

I love how they lead into things that they’ve already showed us if that makes sense lol which i wonder if they show michonnes side of the story leading up to them meeting

Whooooo boy, just finished the episode and that was a lot to take in. This show looks really expensive and that made me just fucking filled with joy. Gonna have to let this episode marinate a bit but I can say I satisfied with episode 1.

I'm watching it tonight! I have to see it for myself! But I know spoilers for 1 and 2. I chose to see the spoilers so I'm still excited to watch. People want the spoilers some don't so I never tell. I used to belong to the 45,000 group called The Spoiling Dead Fans Army. They leaked every script and had a paid inside- on -the- set -guy. They resolved that group. That was crazy! Knowing what would happen every week but not telling to not be what they called a Twatmuffin.and tossed out!.. LoL fun times!!!

Hey Dan, maybe I missed something but do you think Rick could've just cut the wire connecting him to the CRM soldier with the axe he had, instead of cutting off his hand? Maybe the wire was made of some super-dense material, but it didn't look like it.
