So glad you guys are doing this trailer! I CANNOT wait to see MurderRick again.

The shot is looking over the Delaware River into Philadelphia from Camdem, NJ. It's obviously a superimposed backdrop b/c filming took place in Atlanta and Carlstadt, NJ which is near NYC. Early screeners have said first ep is actually 55 mins w/o ads and the 2nd 53 mins. The word is Andrew wants to stick around for more story, but Danai is too busy to continue. So....maybe (you figure).

The city is definitely Philadelphia. The needle bldg is Liberty Place and that what you thought was a cathedral is Ciry Hall. If you look close that is the William Penn Statue on top.

I thought Aaron took on the role of losing the hand from the comics. And in that regard I find it strange. But I think if anyone can survive without a hand and still be dangerous it's Rick Grimes. It also looks like he has a prosthetic. If anyone can supply those it's the CRM.

Rick losing his hand cements the idea that it’s going to be very hard for him to escape. The only reason Kirkman regretted it because he had to draw it in every issue and work around it in the story. Because they’re aiming for this to probably be a limited series they’re not concerned about the long-term outcomes of him losing his hand.

Loving the frame-by-frame here, just like having a new toy. 😂

Loving the burnt hand theory. That way they can freak us all out but keep it in the end

I was so excited about RICK GRIMES, but now we have GENERAL BEALE aka JOHN LOCKE

I think the hand thing makes sense. The CRM seem like the kind of group to cut something off of someone if they continuously try to run. Now if he gets bit and has to cut the hand off then that is a bit of a problem for me. And a huge thing about Rick is that he’s a threat no matter what. Cutting a hand off of him doesn’t make him less of one. He’s the type of character to always find a way to be a force to recon with.

I really liked the burned hand theory, I myself am also not a fan of rick’s hand being amputated since it’s beet done multiple times, but it could might also be the reason why he’s been gone for so long as he can’t do as many tasks but I hope thats not the case. Maybe Rick lost his hand because he tried to escape and failed to do so. In the previous trailer, one character tells him, thank you Grimes, you showed me that I cannot get away (something along those lines). So maybe this was his punishment.

That's not a theory, we KNOW he tried to escape cuz that's what he was doing at the end of Season 11. And he had both hands in that scene.

Can’t believe yall didn’t pause on general beale holding that sword because maybe he cut ricks hand off with it as punishment for him trying to escape

I just got to the point in your reaction where you are talking about the opening in the brick wall. Almost no one ever agrees with me, but (realistically)they should have never given up the prison back in season 3. It would have been INCREDIBLY easy to clear both before and after the Governor. All they needed to do was put a bunch of your people in the locked prison cells, and then lure/funnel the walkers into that cell block. Then your people locked in the cells just keep killing the walkers through the bars. Additionally, the whole quarry plan by Rick (leading a parade of walkers out) was sheer stupidity as well. They had access to heavy equipment and could have easily created a funnel system to kill them off slowly there as well.

I am beyond hyped. Cannot wait to see murder jacket Rick back. Even if Rick does lose his hand I doubt that the CRM would leave one of their soldiers at a disadvantage. My guess/theory is that Rick will get a prosthetic hand.

Last “hand” frame by frame looks like it might be before they get rid of his hand but in all honesty the trailer clearly is showing he does not have a hand. Which is new to me honestly but I think they will use it as for Rick to become stronger than what he already was and give him more fight in him

At 12:15, the scene that you freeze to talk about the gas: I worked over there where the production set up this scene. This was on Cherry St. in Rahway NJ, in front of the Rahway Train Station. There is a coffeeshop on the back right corner called the Coffee Box. I don't know how much you will actually be able to see it on the show but they redid the front of the shop for the purpose of the show to turn it into a Bar & Grill called...ahem...the Loyal Bowman! Just a bit of an Easter Egg to look out for when the show airs. Incidentally, Nikola Tesla had his lab just down the road and was responsible for electrifying the station.

My theory is that RICK chops his own hand off. Wait and see ;)

@@gregkrueger331 100% ....however, we know the civic republic to be highly selective with who the allow in (the whole A & B thing), chances are they would be just as selective if not moreso, as far as physical capabilities for their soldiers, no?

The only reason Kirkman said it was a big regret & didn’t do it in the show was the CGI & budget lol, the end of his character in the universe soon, why not 🤷🏻‍♂️ 😂

16:30 you guys have to be right. In the first trailer we see a flame Walker with some spikes on it similar to the one Jadis had that impaled his hand. This Walker we see bumping fully into ricks left side which makes me think his hand gets all kinds of injuries leading to amputation

I 100% agree with you guys. I don't think there's any point cutting off his hand now. The main show is over so there's no need to follow the comic cuz that's done. Now they are going beyond the comic. Since this is Rick's final story there's absolutely no point of cutting off his hand now. His survival tho is more likely to happen now given it would be stupid to cut his hand off and then kill him 5 episodes later?! Rick will definitely survive now💯

Yes I agree but at the same time the main reason they never got rid of his hand was because it would’ve been an inconvenience. But if this is nearing the end of their stories it wouldn’t hurt as much.

Rick’s survival was never in question though. They were never going to not kill him in 9x05 to just kill him after six episodes.

I don't think he'll die at all cuz that'll be really really dumb. Making us wait 5 years just for that?! He's definitely going to survive. His ending should just be reuniting with his family!

Besides the first and last episode (which will be double), They will each be 40-45 minute shows with 15-20 minutes of commercials to make them 60 minutes of air time... That's the way these network shows always go.

I personally don't have an issue on if Rick does or doesn't lose his arm as long as the writing surrounding it is good, amc doesn't seem to care about kirkman anymore but some writers may still respect his opinion enough to not do it. If the writers are smart enough they should be able to create a storyline that's just as compelling with moments that can be just as impactful. My biggest concern is that the deaths in this show if there is any will end up becoming underwhelming or less impactful since the 2 main characters essentially have plot armor unless if they actually do off them which i doubt amc would do

Is that scene of the helicopters flying over the farms actually Commonwealth? The city looks smaller than Atlanta, but still kind of big, and Commonwealth has farms around it. They do show the Atlanta bombing, but that one surrounded by farms does not look like Atlanta.

From what i keep hearing from others that shot w all the helicopters is from the new york on one side and across the river to the new jersey side. Now ive never been there, but it fits to me from just some pics ive seen & so many other reactors are agreeing with that. Fyi, the first city shown ive heard could be Philadelphia from an oppossite angle from other previos shots. Im just sharing my opinions. Hope its right❤

No it's Philadelphia. The CR is located there. It does have outposts in NY state but that city is Philadelphia. Remember the Dama and the Croat control Manhattan.

If I haven't been so hyped for The Ones Who Live, now I'm extremely hyped. Us hardcore fans are soooooo excited. And this spinoff is gonna be the best....Rick Grimes the G.O.A.T. OF TWD IS BACK ♥️ That's Philly from the Jersey side. Bearle and Rick are also sitting on the Jersey side. That is Nat ( the little guy) I have been to 2 filming locations Eatontown NJ ( where Rick fights the walkers ( our Monmouth Mall in Eatontown NJ where many many stores have left since the pandemic, the mall is practically vacant) and in Hamilton Township NJ at a military park where much of the CRM is. Love the editing. The early reviewers strongly suggest that you watch World Beyond. Yes Silas is in The Ones Who Live and Joe Holt that plays Leo Bennett has been seen with Poly a.k.a. Jadis in New Jersey during filming. I'm ok with Rick losing his hand..... I'm not ok hearing some fans stating that Mason ( Beale's son) is going to take Sebastian's storyline. Lol I just roll my eyes. There is gonna be a season 2.... because now it reads a NEW SERIES and not reading limited series. I love the first three titles YEARS- GONE- BYE 30 more days to go♥️♥️♥️

The city has to be Philly. The skyline matches perfectly. I doubt that military base it's in New York. The freedom tower was built in 2013 so it would be a massive continuity error since the fall was in 2010. The only issue I have with it being Philly is that it's so close to New York. Maggie or Negan or SOMEONE would've been helicopters at some point.

The hand is a call back to season 1 Merle. Handcuffed to a roof and cut his hand off. The same will happen to Rick. He’ll cut it off to try and escape

I agree Dave it’s stupid. Kirkman regretted till the day who wrote the final issue….and Gimple of course does it to Rick now when he’s like 10 years older than he was in Days Gone Bye maybe even older and i agree with Oak it essentially makes him less intimidating and able to be the GOAT he was in the original…..of course Gimple puts in Kirkmans greatest regret 🤦‍♂️

It makes the most sense if his hand is gone cause it blew up and he was laying on it when he was laying after the explosion
