Hey Darren, welcome to the Walking Dead - you're going to love it! Don't worry about painting miniatures. It seems really daunting and you won't want to mess things up but all miniatures look better with paint on so anything you do will only make them look better. Don't judge your efforts against the stuff you see on line. Most of these painters have been painting for years, in some instances decades. You wouldn't judge yourself as a guitar player against Jimi Hendrix after one lesson would you? :)

Looks great. I prefer sometimes to hit with an appropriately coloured wash (ie blue wash on a blue jacket) and do a single brown wash on top as this gives you a more colourful contrast to the clothing. Similarly, I mix up skin tones by using a light mix of grey, green, purple and blue washes over a "flesh" base. Gives a nice bit of variation to your horde.

You btw needed two layers of wash cuz your layers been very glossy and thats leads to a very smooth surface and that helps paint flow very good. If you would have spreyed them with a matt coat before the washing the paint would have it harder to flow and covers a little better. :)

Hey Bearsan - These minis are from the Wave 4 release which isn't available at retail yet but came as part of the Kicksterter so you should be able to buy him soon. The worst one is the M4 rifle - it looks as though the arm has been attached a little high which has bent the shape of the gun and can't be straightened unless I take the arm off (I'm not that fussed about it). The rest will straighten with hot water or a hair dryer. I've done this with other Walking Dead minis and it works fine.

BlackJack Legacy It's a must have whenever you wish to do bloodstains 😊 GW's technical range is great, I use Typhus Corrosion quite a lot on my WWII German tanks and went trough about a whole pot of Nihilak Oxyde when I painted my Nighthaunts.

Great video! I like the intro, maybe consider a music change for your outro too as loads of creators use it on YT but get that you dont want a copyright strike. Anyway the tutorial is fantastic, I use a very similar technique for my walking dead as I highlight them but pretty much use this technique for my zombicide hordes.

When I do the survivor video it will be a similar method but with highlighting and more care taken with the washes.

Hi - as helpful as this was (I have Walking Dead base set and solo Woodbury set - all unpainted), I am totally confoundeded by the number and variety of brushes available, and the various types of ink and wash, etc. available: enamel, silk, matt, acrylic paints - what's the difference? How do I get started with the basics: two or three basic brushes and some core colours would be helpful? Sorry I'm so ignorant, but painting miniatures seems like a daunting, nightmare of a maze to navigate for someone new to it all - some idiot-proof basics would be really helpful!

BlackJack Legacy That would be awesome -- I don't even know what the different brush shapes and sizes are for, but kinda guessed the smaller the better! There are so many inks: base coats, undercoats, overcoats, bright washes, dark washes, and I recall reading somewhere you have to wash miniatures with washing up liquid before painting.... Aarrggh! :-)
