Per the books, one of the Volturi's guard (Chelsea) has the ability to emotionally bind and unravel people's feelings for each other. Could be pretty easy to just -poof- no more maternal instincts for the charming kiddo, as long as they y'know, had time to put her in the movie to justify it.

she knows she can't hurt the Volturi, so she gets some sort of satisfaction from not letting anyone else have the happiness she feels was denied to her - though I'm not sure that Laurent felt quite the same way

In the book, Aro is described as extremely jealous and fearful of Carlisle's coven as his coven is the single largest coven after Volturi. Aro fears Carlisle would increase his coven and by stroke of luck, stumble upon gifted vampires. As the book 4 ended, Olympic coven has the largest gifted members after the Volturi. Jasper can influence the emotions both immortal and mortal including shapeshifters, Alice has the premonition governing mortal and immortal, Bella is a shield (from the book it seems she can and may mentally shiel all supernatural beings and mortal) and Edward is a telepathic. While Renesmee have two abilities, penetrating shield and projecting thoughts and memory through physical touch.

Hearing the Cullens, and the way they reacted, just speaks how they're waiting for them to trip in the tiniest bit just so the Volturi can end them asap.

I like how Felix and Demetri just pivoted around their respective columns the instant Irina walked through the door, showing the guard members’s readiness when it comes to protecting their superiors!👍🏿

Because she wasted their time and embarrassed them. They killed her out of spite and to set an example. BUT saying that. In the original draft, it was Victoria who was killed. So it was originally meant to be the climax of the series. But Stephanie Myers publishers told her to write New Moon and Eclipse instead

They've been in power for thousands of years by slowly collecting vampires that have useful skills for protecting them, thats why they wanted Alice and eventually Bella once they saw her power. Without those select few special vamps they would have been dead a long time ago.

@@jaylonsharp236 Yep! Technically Breaking Dawn was called Forever Dawn at that point. It’s plot is very similar to Breaking Dawn, but it’s told entirely from Bella’s perspective. I’m pretty sure you can read it, but it’s in the Library of Congress in DC.

No real child would grow as fast as Renesmee did, so, they had to do something to make it seem like it was the same child growing, otherwise it would just look like Renesmee is changing faces every other day.
