Great, another pedal that’ll be $900 on Reverb because Josh did a plug. It’s that pedal that no one knew they were missing, but, now, must absolutely have!
That last setting sounds hilarious
Electro Harmonix has this feature on several of their fuzzes and overdrives, and the Voodoo Labs Pedal Power II+ has adjustable jacks, but the on/off footswitch elevates the JHS Volture to a much higher level of creativity and usability. I gotta have it. Kudos!

I would say if it was also offered as a mini wah form factor instead of using a knob for those that want to change its setting quick on stage, THAT would be a killer option! Not for everyone, hence why I say as a OPTION, but it would make it ideal for those that aren’t going to keep it at a specific setting during a performance.
@TheRealcdawg22
Жыл бұрын
That is a really good idea. Like you said the market for it would be limited but I jus6 so happen to be down with it! It would not be hard to do either. It all depends on what resistance value potentiometer is being used in the Volture and can we find the same resistance value potentiometer that is designed for treadle use. If it is 10kohms, you can just use a common expression pedal. Does anyone know the value of the potentiometer inside the Volture?
@TheRealcdawg22
Жыл бұрын
Expanding on your idea. I am thinking to just add an expression jack to the Volture. Then you can just customize the expression pedal with the matching value potentiometer as the Volture. Or build one fro. parts. I got a great place! Will just need to know the value of that pot. If it's 10k, 25k or 100k, we are in business.
such a simple design... but endlessly useful
eric johnson uses dying betteries for his tone. i want one!
Nice! Certain fuzz pedal makers have issued cool sounding fuzz pedals with a circuit control of the same voltage-starving concept to enable the user to dial-in "spittiness". An off-the-shelf unit like this will enable players to explore applying a "spittiness" control to a whole array of different sounding fuzz pedals! Some fuzz results with great character could be discovered through such mob-exploring!

Hey a very good and nerdy idea from John Mayer👍and very well implemented by Josh&Co When I think about it, I think, maybe that was the last little thing that was missing in the pedal world... But of course I'm wrong
Behind the late Iron Courtain I had a Vermona (East German) solid state amp. Even as a kid I was so angry because of the wretched sound of it. And some ten years later I have heard the NIN using almost identical distorted sounds, bringing them out from really high end amplifiers. 🙄😀 ( Huge fav anyway.)

I seriously need to start collecting more JHS pedals. I really do highly respect you and I plan to support you more because of it.
I'm old enough to remember the Danelectrode. Bought 1 for me and 1 for my brother.
Would it be the same concept as a variac?
Danelectro used to make an ac adapter that let you dial down the voltage. I have one, but I don't think it's been available for years. Good to see this out. The sound can be so cool.
Back in the 90s we had a DOD thrash Master distortion pedal those who were there know about this technique it's taken quite a while for it to catch on I guess your results May very on different pedals
Funny! When I first moved to the US from Hong Kong, that was one thing I noticed- Americans pronounce their U’s like O’s. Like adult = adolt, ultimate = oltimate
That would sound sick on a Strymon pedal!
That's genius 😂
I like the all the way down.
Back in the late 90’s I would use 8.4 volt Duracell Mercury batteries made for hospital equipment. They sounded great in my MXR and DOD pedals and lasted like 10x longer than any other batteries. Mercury was banned in the early 90’s so this Volture is a cool thing, but it doesn’t get to 8.4 volts.
This is super cool! I sincerely hope this isn’t a limited run!
Controlled glitch 😍
For that "Swell Maps" -sound....
That is rad
This is definitely a cool effect. Monkey from Korn does something kinda similar with a Metal Zone. I can't remember the settings but when he stomps on the pedal it sounds like he is playing through an old radio. It's a great effect to use if used correctly.
Sounds like a robot farting at the end
It’s…Glorious!
Super cool! Is it keeping the voltage but ramping the current down? It'd be great if has a battery snap as well as a barrel connection

Back in the day my brother and i would save 9 volts that were at the point they were doing this. But it was very iffy. Some would be dead by the time we used them. But theres another pedal that does this that i saw long ago.
I love a pedal that makes my pedals sounds like faerie farts.
I plugged my OD-1 in with a Texas Instruments calculator adaptor (5.7v?) it sounded amazing till the pedal died. Now I can have at again without frying my pedal. Thanks JHS.
Obviously other companies have done similar things, but the on off switch/ pedalboard friendliness of this is awesome
Volture makes a Rat become a Fart
First time I realized that a nearly dead battery can be a good thing was with the DOD Fx69 Grunge pedal from the 90's - during the 90's. Once the battery was dying, the tone would warm up as the obnoxiously powerful treble hiss died away. Then I noticed that other pedals had good results with near-dead batteries as well. Downside: You'd never know when the battery was going to go full-dead and replacing with fresh batteries would blow the good tone and make the pedal sound obnoxious again. I'm somewhat shocked that nobody has asked for a battery limiter device much sooner than this.
That last one sounded like vg bg music from the 16bit days.
Oh I feel like I could get some tool sounding stuff out of that
I wouldn't even buy it if Jimi Hendrix himself had it along his pedals
