The only sound I couldn't quite figure out (and I think there was a pedal involved) was that big dive bomb type sound. Sounds like a giant bend or something, but I just did a slide to make sure I could consistently play those two notes. Doesn't sound nearly as cool.

Made this years ago, but I think it’s a tremolo on the synth that you hear in the right channel throughout most of the song. So if that’s what you’re talking about find a suitable bass synth sound and put a tremolo plugin on there and tweak until you get it sounding right. For this sound, you’ll probably want the type of tremolo to be more square wave vs. sharp tooth. And if you haven’t dealt with tremolos before there will probably be some sort of visual aid by the knobs that should help you understand what I mean. Good luck!

Thanks a lot! I recorded the full vocals, but I couldn't get the main part (hot track, etc.) to sound powerful enough. Julian kind of sings it in a weird voice as it is, so it just sounded stupid when I did it. I didn't want to have to deal with the auto-tuned parts in the outro, so while the 'I lost what's mine's' sounded fine, they just seemed a little repetitive without the different parts he adds in between. I was thinking about it just being instrumental, but I liked how the middle part sounds and since there was no guitar to fill that section out, it keeps the cover interesting.

In the actual song? And do you mean the real bass, which is very quiet in the track, or the synth bass?

The real bass is very quiet, not too noticeable unless you're listening for it. Listen for what sounds like snare buzz on those notes. It's the part I played in the video. The synth bass is louder and has the tremolo on it.

The amp is a Fender Hot Rod Deville 410, clean channel with the pedals doing the work. For Beardo's part I think I used an EHX Soul Food into a Boss DS-2. For Amir's part I used a Dunlop Hendrix Fuzz into the Soul Food. Just messed with the knobs until it sounded somewhat right. Bass going into a Fender Rumble 100. Recording into Logic which is where I programmed the drums and got the MIDI synth sounds.
