Here's a vocal technique I've been hearing everywhere in 2023 used by Fred Again, Skrillex & BICEP just to name a few.

Is there a way to ask you a question on how to do something I found in a song I want to replicate? I'm not sure if you've got KZread setup to delete comments or if you allow all comments?

Tremolo/gated vocals were popular in mid to late 90s aswell. At least here in europe. I guess it came from trance and then spread into mainstream eurodisco.
temposync tremolo with a custom shape basically. seems like trance is making a come back :)

Definitely, midi triggered gating does allow more precise control over the rhythm and swing than a typical tremolo though

See this is the tutorials i fucking love. short, simple, straight to the point. I hate having to hear the persons whole backstory on how they were born and got into music and how as a kid they heard this sound and they took 15 years to find how to make it, then the last 2 mins of the 30min video is the actual tutorial.
Great video!
Unreal simplistic demonstration mate! Well done 👏🏻
This is a great vid dude thanks so much!
Brilliant Video
FL users can do this by putting peak controller on the mixer track of the rhythm source and linking the volume of your coval mixer track to be controlled by the peak controller.
awesome! thanks a lot!

Pluko got me into dis
I heard this and similar in Trance music 15-20 years ago
3:32 i was like why does it sounds so much pluko damn man thanks for clearing that out
i mean this is just what you do when making a synth patch and if you have custom LFO shapes like on the minifreak. i can make a rhythmic unique pattern with no sequencing or arps, just using the lfo to act as a sort of looping gate pattern
Love this! Any chance you could do some UK Garage? Perhaps Sammy Virji or Interplanetary Criminal? Thanks
Hang on, how did you add serum further down in the effects chain?
Kilohearts trance Gate is a quick and simple way to achieve this effect
@PALE1080

true but it's kinda hard to add variations
Its basically old skool Trance sauce.
Is there a way to do this on fl studio and are there tutorials?
Opened up a sub genre called stutter house, its very good
hey this is dripment, do you do any lessons showing how you edit your videos like this?? i wanna learn 😊💧🐬
Any ideas how to do similar stuff on Fl Studio? Blessings for help :)
What Key Command did you use to swap the audio clips in real time @ 1:44 ?
this guy knows wtf is up!!!
have you tryed ripx for vocals
How would I go about doing this in FL?
I knew I heard that Pluko bass 😄
Does anyone know how you could replicate this on logic?
Hey can I know if I use some AI samplers that can I still release my music on some platforms? Thxxxxxx
Awesome video. Great technique! I use the Infected Mushroom Plugin Bundle (Gatekeeper + Manipulator) to achieve a similar result. Less work and a bit faster in my workflow. :)
you do get a more smooth swingy grove using a gate this way instead the good old trance gates of old goa trance etc.. yes... "new way" to do "old things".. i like it that psytrance stuff is getting more mainstream

Also... let's not exclude classic step sequencer type filters as a method for achieving this technique. Although they're not generally triggered by midi, they are usually major tone enhancers and work with envelopes in a very analogue and musical way. Arturia's SEM Filter is a beast as is the Oberheim. Some of my fav plug emulations from them
I would mute the white noise tho so its only a trigger
Anyone with an idea how to replicate the noise trigger sidechain technique in FL studio?

It's too complicated to explain it all in a comment here, but Fruity's Peak Controller is one of the many tools you can you use for sidechain volume ducking with FLS. It's the "LFO tool" that most FLS user don't even know they own.
@alakazamaudio
10 ай бұрын
got it - get a white noise sample and make a midi pattern and then add a fruity peak controller to that channel on the vocal sample channel add a fruity balance and right-click volume - link to controller - link to the peak controller you just added
@AutPen38
10 ай бұрын
@@alakazamaudio Yep, that should do it. You can do all kinds of clever stuff with peak controller once you've worked out how to do the routing.
how can you replicate this in fl studio ? midi is so flexible i know it's possible with any lfo tools but to add variations midi is so good
@AutPen38
11 ай бұрын
If you're comfortable using Fruity's Peak Controller, you could write a long midi pattern (or several short ones) that are played silently, but that control the volume of the vocal track. The technique is very similar to sidechain volume ducking the bass with a compressor, but you use a customized MIDI pattern instead of the 4/4 kick drum to do the ducking. If I wasn't in the mood to do automation with Peak Controller (it can get complicated) I'd probably just make multiple variations of the chop patterns with Kilohearts trancegate and then render and recombine them as WAVs though.
For this on steroids see “Stutter Edit” by BT 🤙🏽🖤🕺😎
Well, if you can already hear it in 2023, it’s probably time not to stop doing it.
Awesome, thanks. I bought Rip X for vocal separation but it was inconsistent and contained loads of artefacts. Been playing around with Lala and it seems much better... and if you are naughty then you don't really need to pay for it. Great video, gonna try this technique on my new track.
Kilohesrts actually has a trance filter
Can you do us a favor and show us what Pluggins you have for this entire thing. Like exact names pleaseeeeeeee
@SynthHackerTV

A lot of the stems were from a Pluko track and mostly stock plugins used but third party plugins I used were: DS-10 Fabfilter Pro-Q3 SerumFX LittleAlterBoy Skaka Kontakt (Choreographs) Gulfoss ValhallaPlate ValhallaSupermassive That's everything, I wouldn't read into the plugins too much though and don't feel like you need them!
Would love a technique that could be used in FL studio. Love how ableton has so many unique things that can be done.

There are a ton of ways to do gated chops in FL Studio. The method I'd probably use would be to program a midi rhythm that gets fed into Peak Controller and then use the output of that to automate the volume of the vocals. There are plenty of free "trancegate" plugins that make it even easier.
@albinandersson8483

Could probably use some presets in Gross beat
so you are using gate not auto pan non ?
Simon Posford was using this technique in 1995.
I think you can do this efect even simpler by using Lfo Tool in midi trigger mode so there will be no need for additional channels and noises.
