Also, I find it important to note: The first strain, with the eye contact, is curable through removing the eyes *in the first two minutes only*. After that, you're gone, lost, done, and getting paralyzed, step by step. Within less than 5 minutes, you're completely infected, and are either dead or a threat to everyone around you. They were doomed from the moment the first strain showed up.

An added layer of horror to having your eyeballs have to be surgically removed within the first stage if you want to survive - you would have to have them removed without painkillers because no anesthesia would take effect fast enough for them to remove it before the first stage passes... Whether you have your eyes surgically removed, or they explode out of your head, it sounds like a very painful way to go😢

and people who are even able to have them removed are lucky. i imagine itd be next to impossible to have your eyeballs surgically removed in a scenario where there's no doctors nearby, since the first stage only lasts 2 minutes. so if you're on a camping trip deep in the woods or whatever and you get infected, you might as well already be dead... unless you wanna remove the eyeballs yourself💀

I'm normally not great at theorizing with these things but I do think it's interesting to note that the virus is called the Medusa virus, and the phrase "may god help us all" keeps being repeated The myth of Medusa is pretty well-known, being cursed by Athena for her affair with Poseidon, and while the initial inspiration for the name is obviously the whole 'don't make eye contact' aspect, I do think it's cool how many other aspects of the myth are incorporated into the virus. Medusa was just one of the gorgons, the virus has many forms. Poseidon was a god of the sea, and the virus travels through the drains. Athena was a goddess of wisdom and war, and the virus seems to deny all possible explanation or understanding. Even the unconventional method of its spreading can sorta be tied back to Greek mythology- Athena sprang fully-formed from Zeus's brow, paralleling the initial method of infection

@@deangeloenriquez1603Even if that were the case (and I hope it is), the fact even in 1998 you can schedule technicians to install the government mandated AC filter ONLINE was not a technology that we had pre Y2K/dotcom era nationwide no less. There are quite a few anachromisms in this series if we were to stick to the conventional rules of how time should flow in a modern fiction setting.

I don't know if you would be conscious, but in anime like Dr. Stone, unless their "statues" crumbled from environmental damage, they were either unconscious or conscious. Imagine being turned to stone, not being able to quite die but being conscious with nothing but your thoughts to accompany you. That would turn anyone insane.

Fun fact:@@HazbinCovenWitch There's a type of fungus that infects ants that makes the completely lose control of their muscles, but not doesn't kill their brain, the fungus spreads by getting an ant to stay in a single place and keep growing and growing till it releases spores. I forgot the name but its similar to this.

something i noticed that im not seeing many people pick up on is that in the last section (during the animated scenes) it seems to take place several years later. during the discovery report at the beginning it says that it was recorded in 1988 however during the last tv broadcast (it can be hard to see because of the angles) it says that "no new discoveries have been made in the last few years" it also says that "77% of the population is infected as of May 1st, 2000". i could be misinterpreting, but from what i can tell the events of this video have taken place over the course of 12 years

yeah the dates were being said out loud as 98 but it showed as 88 and many times mid sentence the dates would change from july 13th to july 17th etc.

One of my favorite things to imagine is if two analog horror universes combined instantly like medusa virus and vita carnis i wonder how they would react to eachother

to be honest the smile tapes had me paranoid for days because i watched it while a sleep deprived night

Fun fact! While they're usually portrayed as similar looking to mermaids, Greek mythology Sirens- known for luring people to their doom using their voices- are actually half-bird women!

This is genuinely terrifying to think about. It strips you of all your senses, everything that makes you human.

I kinda like the Greek myth compilation effect this virus has. You've got the eye contect paralysis of the virus' namesake, and the birds acting as sirens of sorts, in that hearing their call lures you to your imminent death, unless you're restrained. Pretty cool so far.

on the second recording, the date changed from June 17th to August 5th which makes me think that the virus can tamper with electronics which also means that the warning not to use phones could be fake. maybe the virus will tell people they can come out but they can't.

It's not only on the second recording it's on the first one too!! The date changes from July 13th 1988 to July 17th 1988 to August 5th 1988, even though the recordings are said to be in June 13th, 17th and August 5th of 1998. Makes me wonder if it's electronics or some kind of memory loss?

This is where a gas mask would be incredibly useful If you had a strong enough mind you could probably ignore the sound of the birds since the fight and flight response can be controlled by you. Although hard

The scary thing is, these infected don’t seem to be very hostile, it’s more like something you cannot control unless you catch it early. (Atleast from where I am)

As a person who has ADHD and avoids eye Contact, I see this partially as a absolute win.

Easy solution. Wear sunglasses with very dark glasses. You can't make eye contact if the other can't see your eyes. Eye contact has to go both ways sooo

I think I figured it out for the "touch" symptom, but it's a bit of a stretch Touch was already taken away, because of the paralysis from the first symptoms of Eye Contact. It was just much more subtle bc of the other symptoms kicking in.

Honestly,I never really comment on videos or anything,but this is,in my opinion the most terrifying analog horror,not in a scaring way,but psychologically terrifying,the symptoms and the way it spreads are ultimately depressing and detrimental to think about or to think about the experience of it,how it essentially has no cure,and besides that,the moment you get it,you have two options equally horrifying. Truly one of the only analog horrors to actually scare me. My favorite in terms of scare tactics and quality.
