Very informative. Got me thinking about if I want to live below the turnpike. Will there be a town square and commercial development below the turnpike to counter the location being below the traditional "above Hwy 44" lifestyle?

There is definitely a plan to build a town square, the name of it is Eastport. I don't know the exact location, but it will south of the turnpike someplace southeast of the rest area on the turnpike. I have a friend who works on in commercial property development for The Villages and he is as shocked as I am that there is NOT a current plan for shopping centers. The problem is that The Villages owns a great portion of the land down there, so even if a big box store like a Walmart or Target wants to move in, they don't have land. Or, they would have to wait until The Villages builds commercial space (I am not sure if Walmart would even rent space though).
Look forward to your updates David. We love the Villages and want to snowbird out of the NY winters, just having a hard time deciding between a house or a condo. I realize its a personal decision, but thinking of all the upkeep on a home when your not there for months at a time. Any thoughts?

Either way there is some up keep. Typically, people will have a home watch person to make sure everything is being taken care of with the home. Typically runs about $50 a month. Then you can expect to pay $40 per month for someone to keep landscaping clean on a courtyard or patio villa, and up to $75 a month for a house. Either way there will be some expense. Some of the decision will be if you are looking to rent out the home when you are not here. Budget is also a factor.
