Great video. I would be worried I wouldn't be able to remember everything. I'm hoping to move there soon. I told my best friend who lives in Tampa, her answer oh you don't want to move there, lots of swinger's. LOL. I just had to laugh

Great info! I bought sight on scene in the Villages. I have not moved there yet. I closed in Dabney in Feb 2024. I look forward to seeing more videos.

We purchased in Lake Denham which is next to Dabney. Travel time to Eastport area is about 10 minutes via car and about 20 minutes via golf cart. Hope this helps. Thanks

There are a lot of great options right now on the new and pre-owned side, so you should have a lot of options. We find Lowes installers for W/D to be subpar. We no longer get applinces from them and instead use an appliance store. We bought top of the line GE W/D and were thrilled with the installation. Prices were less for the washer and dryer combo at a private applince store so we purchased from the local appliance store with great success and the installer has evrything on his truck where lowes you have to order evrything up front and if they show without tha tpart then you are out of luck....We no longer use the big box stores. Better to use a smaller business who only do the work.

Your videos are so helpful. We are coming next week and plan to buy a Hillsdale model in Moultrie Creek or Shady Brook. Want to paint before we move in. Who did you use? We have the exact same must have list as y’all and can’t wait for your upgrade videos since we have a list of those as well.

Thanks for your encouraging comment and it is very exciting about your visit. I love the Hillsdale model and our neighbor has one and loves it. The third bath and separated bedrooms really adds value in our opinion. We used Steve Kling Painting and he and his crew were great. Best price and they completed our home in one day! Sounds like you guys are really focused and ready to make a decision. Prayers for your travel and that you find a great home.

Congrats on the move! When you mention ‘realtor’, do you actually mean village’s sales agent? I have heard of people hiring a realtor to act on your behalf (as a buyers agent) during this process even though they cannot be involved in the actual sale of the home.

Thanks so much! By realtor we do mean our Villages Sales Agent, Daniel Collins regarding our purchase. We also worked with an MLS Realtor, Dave Monty, who showed us properties on the MLS. This was before the new era with the changes to the commission structure for Realtors, so not sure how that is working now. I would still recommend working with an MLS Realtor as well as a Villages Sales Agent, and we highly recommend Daniel and Dave. Hope this helps!

I'm a bit confused concerning the description of the leaking gas problem. Was it caused by the installation of the gas dryer by Lowes, or was it caused by the original contractor(s) for the house?

Thanks for watching and your great question. The leak was from a faulty installation of the gas dryer by the Lowes installation crew. There is no problem with the construction of the home, the gas meter or piping in the home. I will also add that we are very impressed with the construction of the home. Gas fiasco - Did you call Lowes to tell them the installation team goofed? Lowes subcontracts their installation to local contractors. They should be told about the performance of subcenters. Usually Lowes will call you after installation about how the installation went.

Thanks for your comment and yes we did. Hopefully ours and others feedback will have an impact. That experience as well as shopping both Lowes and Home Depot recently have us definitely leaning towards Home Depot. Thankfully the Leesburg Gas Company was super responsive.

Great question and thanks so much for commenting. Yes, it really begins with your sales agent who puts the contract together and sends it to you (if you are not present) and we signed via the internet. Once that was signed they immediately sent a packet of very helpful information as well as the printed contract. We had two calls with a closing coordinator, and one or two with our title company rep who conducted the closing. Because we financed through Citizens First we were able to set up an account to transfer all the money due at closing so the sales office could just transfer it out of our account (which we gave them permission to do). Everyone that we dealt with was very informative and responsive, and it was by far the most painless closing that we have ever been a part of. One thing to remember is that they sell a lot of homes and they have to be diligent because getting behind would significantly slow down their operation. I would definitely have your financing (mortgage or cash) thought through before you make an offer because the 30 clock starts then. Hope this helps.
