Thanks for the information. I am looking forward to golfing in retirement. My wife and I will be looking for a used home around the Brownwood area in a few years. Maybe the southern area will be more built up by then with shopping and grocery stores. Who knows, right? The bond doesn't bother me. Nothing is free. I would rather have a smaller bond though if possible.

The developer should pay his own fees/expenses, not hit the future home owners for it -- that's making big-money off a homeowner twice. I had never heard of this bond thing until I looked into The Villages (don't recall builders doing that in CO or TX). BTW, in Florida I'd not want to sit with my back to ANY body of water. Disgusting the developers have zero concern swallowing up farm land, destroying trees, ecosystem for the almighty dollar. I live in the perimeter it’s extremely depressing!
