Another demonstration of The Villages commitment to its residents. An amazing facility.
Wow, this is fantastic. I always wanted to learn to be a craftsman. Right now I'm a hack. Another check mark for The Villages.
What a great Shop, this is what makes The Villages stand out.
Wow - what an amazing place! Good job, Jerry!
My dad would have loved this shop He aided in designing the wood workers shop in their senior center. A wood workers heaven
Looks like Jerry found his “Toys R Us”. 400+ on wait list, wow. Glad I have no idea how to use any of it, but still awesome place. Thanks for sharing. Saludos !!!
Great...My husband is going to go crazy to do this...
What a Shop. Thanks
Thanks Jerry!
Thank you guys, I didnt know you did other than monday shows
This is a wood worker's dream come true. Looks like they have thought of everything. Thanks for taking us on this informative tour. As always, you did a great editing job.
super nice
I’m not a woodworker but can appreciate this shop. Another wonderful video. Although missed Linda and the Giz.
WOODWORKING HEAVEN ! Really loved this video. I grew up sweeping my Dad's workshop where he built prams and larger boats, then campers. Many hours listening to the neighborhood guys' conversations, smelling the newly cut wood and enjoying the warmth of the big ol' wood stove. Just a lot of good memories. I know all the members of The Villages will put this to good use. A great investment for your community. Thanks for the tour.
Not a wood worker, but happy you guys have it! Thanks!🙏🇺🇸❤️
That is a beautiful facility, top notch. Looks like I’ll keep a lot of smaller easy to move power tools before the move. As a retired shop teacher I totally understand the safety training for liability reasons. Thanks for the video Jerry.

Absolutely amazing. Great jib on your video and commentary.
I wish I knew how to operate these tools. When I went to school girls didn’t have an option to take SHOP classes. We had to take HOME ECONOMICS. Shame. I would have elected SHOP. This is wonderful. Now you need to video a project in the making. That would be something. Great video.
Wow
Amazing!
i bet your mouth watered when you saw that place.
That's a pretty impressive shop!
My Husband Will be Drooling At All Those Fantastic Tools/Machines, He Loves Woodwork, What A Great Informative Video Jerry, Great Job 👍
Wow! What an awesome place for woodworkers to to hone their craft! Thanks for the video on the new Brownwood workshop Jerry!
AWESOME! Santa’s Elves’ Workshop! ❤️😘
Wow..what a great addition in the Villages..sure there will be some beautiful work done there..would be neat to see some in the future. Thanks for sharing Jerry and hi to Linda and Giz 🐾🐶
Wow! Fantastic!!
Great video Jerry! Looking forward to using this.
This was really interesting - I`d like to see you film it when it`s being used. I would hope that with it`s size and expense, those members who got lucky to be actively going are really going and not just on the list in name only. I`m sure some of those 400 waiting would want to get in there, too.
Wow!!! What an amazing place!! Thanks for sharing.
WOW! Amazing Setup! Thanks for sharing! 👏👍🏽❤️
Thanks for the tour! Very interesting.
Comment.....That is super amazing and nice! I plan to join this club when the wife and I move to the villages.
This is awesome you guys wow looks so fun and some really fine looking equipment to do woodworking on! Jerry since you are already experienced you will probably be training people good luck to you and Linda show us some of your creations be safe and don’t get hurt. 👏
Amazing! Makes me want to retire today!!!! Watch your fingers everyone!
Awesome ,, beautiful shop ,,,,,thanks for posting ,,,
Looks great Jerry, thanks for the tour. Looking forward to seeing the shop first hand during my Lifestyle Visit in November.
🤩🤩🤩😎😎😎Many thanks for sharing & explaining 😉😘.
What a lovely facility!😃
Nice shop!! That will keep Jerry busy! Now place for peopke to do woodworking besides the garage, should be cool during the summer.
Thank you for sharing
WOW!!!!! Not a woodworker but this is awesome. Well done to all involved. Looking forward to seeing you use the shop and what you produce.

Amazing.
Very nice.
Thanks for the tour Jerry. My husband says with some of those grinders they should set up a side hustle of knife sharpening to raise some extra cash.
Amazing facility. Would love to learn how to use the tools. Totally understand why non residents can't use facility, too much liability, and then no space for residents.
Very informative video, just like all the videos you two create. You do an excellent job sharing content about what is available at the Villages. My dad would of loved that. Keep up the good work.
Such a beautiful place , since the garages there don’t have enough room , for tools , workbench , Ect
I really miss my time at the club. After 15 years of membership and 11 years on the front desk I find it sad that there is no accommodation for a veteran of Viet Nam who has issues with breathing. I call this the little China bug that destroyed me and others. God bless all. What a sad time for myself and others.

Good morning ☕️ Jerry & Linda ☀️ What an amazing amenity to have. Seems extremely well thought out and no expense was spared!
First from 🇬🇧 the UK. Think I’ll stay out of there unless I can make myself a new arm to replace the one I’ll injure. 🤔
Wow !👍
Looks like you’ve found a second home!
💖
I don't have a clue or understand any of the terms u used but I feel Jerry u r more excited then anyone to get started building something there. Can't wait to see what u make.
All I can say is WOW... that shop is freakin amazing!!!! When I was in high school (back in the 60's), girls weren't allowed in Shop Class but I imagine the things I could have made if allowed to. Just wondering if they provide ear protection for all the noise those "dust collector" machines make? Are there any ladies doing woodworking in the shop? Thank you for sharing this cool video with us...💛🧡❤️💜💙💚
Jerry what will you be making? More jewelry boxes? Can't wait to see you use the tools!
As a fellow Hoosier, hoping to move to the villages some day, I must say, I’m sorry to hear it’s tough to get good wood in central Florida. That could really change the whole retirement landscape. Obviously kidding, and I love your videos. Thanks and keep up the great work.
Very nice facility, top notch obviously. You must really enjoy wood working. Do the car clubs have something similar, with a car shop? That would be cool as well. I learned how to frame pictures and helped my dad out with his side gig framing pictures. I made a few lamps, a tool box and a chess board in HS. That is my only experience with wood. Funny my niece now manages an art store where she is an art consultant.

@@russellp4160 Thanks for the info. I figured some place would have something like a shop for DIY gals and guys. A shop with a lift and some universal tools would be ideal. I know some military bases have them. Fate did not steer me towards the military. We'll see how things turn out.
Jerry. I like to get free or low priced vintage furniture, and restore it back to like new condition. Is there an area in the wood shop where you could strip furniture? I use carbide scrapers and liquid strippers. It can be a messy process.
Jerry - You mentioned that the building cost $3.2M and the tools $485,000 and that it is administered thru Village Recreation. Do those funds come thru property taxes (as initiation and dues would hardly make a dent in those capital expenses). I am envious.
Do they have a classic car club also and a shop for restoration? If so checks all my boxes.
I enjoy your videos very much so I’m sure lots of people do. I would hope that in one of your future videos you mention Goldwing Nut and the go fund me to raise money for cancer research and prevention.

Are you a member or instructor here? It is beautiful facility.
I've always said a place like this is a great idea but wondered about the insurance needed to be carried to protect the business from members who have accidents. I wonder how much the policy costs. Members pay a one time fee and monthly dues?
Impressive wood shop. Happy to see the emphasis on safety. I imagine it can be pretty loud when several pieces of equipment are running. Do people wear hearing protection in the shop?
My Federal welfare, SS, check will be going up 5.9% this year. First meaningful increase in quite awhile.

Looks great, but with a 400 member wait list I will have to make room for my tools in my home. Do they have any metalworking tools, possibly in another group setting? Always need to make metal stuff to go with my wood stuff. Currently I use my CNC equipment at my own business for my metal pieces, but retirement will change that. The long wait list makes me hesitate about choosing the Villages, the woodworking was one of the reasons I am thinking about moving there. I don't golf.

Did you say the wood working shops are only open Monday - Friday during business hours only?
400 person waitlist. Ugggh. Yet in this video we didn’t see a single guy or gal using any of that equipment. Seems like it is way underutilized. Seems like a better option is to have more members (more dues for upkeep!) but to schedule time and equipment there. Also a question. Is there an AutoCad station(s) for design work? Bottom line is this is a huge attraction for me. Better than golf!

Boy oh boy… that is amazing! I fix and refinish/paint furniture for a living; been doing that for about 20 years and I’m wondering if there is a paint/stain booth available and if members can leave projects, say a dresser I’m fixing, to allow time for glue, paint or stain to dry and how they handle an over abundance of such pieces left for drying/curing times. This was a great video and I can imagine I’d be spending much of my golden years in that workshop. Thanks, Jerry! Love to Linda! Hope she had a wonderful time at the baby shower. 💕✌🏼

I asked same question. Is there a place to strip furniture? I use carbide scrapers, liquid strippers and orbital sanders.
I watched this earlier this morning and then again this afternoon with my husband. His question was with over 1300 members, do members have to make appointments to use the shop and what are the chances they would have a hard time getting a time slot to use the facility? It looks large, but not necessarily large enough to handle that many people. Also, is there any transport accommodations for after you build something to help you get it back to your house?
@JERRYANDLINDA
2 жыл бұрын
If I have never been to the woodshop with more than 30 other members there at any given time. I am sure it gets busier on occasion. The transport would be up to the member. There are lots of members eager to help however.
I went to sign up, and found out I am number 400 something on the list. I’ll be 90 by the time I could be a member. Seems like a lot of work to be trained and managed to use tools I already have known and used most of my adult life. At my age I don’t want someone hovering over me monitoring everything I do….sorry

This is impressive; there is a Life After Fifty centre in our city that would die to have a woodworking facility like in The Villages Brownwood. I would love to see what The Villages; Goldsmithing, Lapidary, Glass Bead Making and Silversmithing group facilities are like.
@saundby
2 жыл бұрын
The lapidary setup is very impressive. They meet in a regular rec center in a room that has everything stored in cabinets. All the tools come out lickety split, then at the end of the session it all gets cleaned up and put away, it looks like a regular meeting room when they are done. Some amazing people in the group as well, and a lot of shared talent.

@@saundby Thank you we do not live the US we live in Canada and my creative mother was the artist doing Goldsmithing, Lapidary, Glass Bead Making and Silversmithing she would have loved to see a fully functional lapidary group similar to what is in The Villages. But unfortunately the Life After Fifty Centre in our city got rid of the Lapidary, Woodworking and Silversmithing programs and the city college were she was doing large bronze and silver castings got rid of the Foundry. Thank You Again!
Now there is a major attraction to anyone trying to make up their minds whether to live in the Village's. I would be there all the time. That's a great way to stay busy during retirement. (Just a hypothetical question) : Would the Village's allow me to build my own cabinets for renovating my kitchen or must it be an approved contractor who normally builds in the Village's?
