I absolutely love this movie with Karl Urban as Ghost and Blood Moonblood as Starfire. I bought the Pathfinder dvd and play it several times a year. It never gets old and is one of my favorites along with Centurion with Michael Fassbender set in ancient Rome.

Seems to be inspired by Dances with Wolves and Rambo: First Blood. In reality, native tribes killed, tortured and enslaved each other frequently. This division among them made them easier to conquer.

This is not historically accurate but a good movie. We natives were too much for the vikings. They ran and never came back. End of story.

LMAO 🤣 My father Shawnee He had red hair. His family came from laura run pa. And his grandfather was kicked off the reservation for having red hair. Lots of natives wear by natives. Called them witches. Dad was a mix of tribes including willawana and Sasquahana. But Red hair was not welcome In ohio reservation. Yeah Lots of stories a big red head men eating other tribes. So I can't even blame them with Saii stories. But know your tribal history before you bullshit. son. Legends all we got left . I think it's clear where red hair came from. Along with the goddamn rune stones scattered across the country. 😂 Not to forget DNA Evidence one burial ground bones yep Natives have viking in them. Not really a shock Native Americans are the most genetically diverse race in existence.

Awesome film definitely worth a watch 👍

He's not a red skin. A Fellow country man left as a child and adopted but not fully embraced, by a peaceful indigenous tribal community. Billy Butcher ( karl Urban ) is great in this little known slice of golden movie making. Great cast, great story telling and great visuals throughout. Masterfully immatating the bleak nature of what they are facing with these terrifying unknown creatures. Vikings. Almost all of the movie is filmed in muted shades of non color to great effect. A very beautiful Moon Bloodgood shine's in a role that seems tailor made just for her. Although the real prize is the always awesome Clancy Brown. Chewing his way through every scene with his signature Wood Chipper ferocity. Highly rated imho and well worth watching, if... you can ever find it. If you're looking for historical accuracy or even something remotely plausible. This is not that movie. What you will get though, is a well produced, well directed and well acted, but historically fanciful action movie. A film that delivers a spectacular and enjoyable escape from reality and all achieved from a relatively modest budget. Entitled: Pathfinder.

I'll never understand why Hollywood thinks it has to twist the historical narrative, there were plenty of fascinating events that were documented in the Icelandic sagas, there was no reason to make anything up...I guess they're just used to lying.

I watched this movie 14 years ago, it was amazing

@@123junu Research reveals that the horned helmets discovered in Viksø (Denmark) 82 years ago actually date back to around 900 BC, almost 2,000 years before the Vikings, disproving the myth that they came from the Viking Age. The horns are from the Bronze Age and date back to the ancient Near East, between 1700 and 500 BC. (Live Science Magazine)

It's funny but in America a lot of families are single mom families. Thanks to the courts favoring females. Heck the only way they lose custody of the kids is if they're found to be using drugs or are mentally unfit and even then courts aren't Fair.

He;s not a real Redskin. He was a white baby. They adopted him and he grew up as one of them. This movie is in my collection.

The vikings never had bugles that they could blow. Bugle is a brass wind musical instrument, likened to a small trumpet, but less complex structure. True story...

This film appears to be based on a Norwegian film titled "Pathfinder" It is a 1987 action-adventure film written and directed by Nils Gaup. It is based on an old Sami legend. Thankfully it's not about a white hero saving Indians... The Norwegian film is one of my all time favorites.

Nah. There was this guy who saw Americas coast in ca 997, and Leif Erikson travelled there year 1000and went ashore. (By the way , his ancestor came from a farm ca 15 km from my farm in Norway, as the crows fly.) But you confuse these men with vikings, they were rather poor settlers, just arrived in Greenland some years before. OK, the LIVED in the viking age, but were not vikings.@@johnhanson1419

Oh, dear! Yes, I am VERY aware of the findings Helge Ingstad and his wife found in the 60s. That was not a permanent settlement, but a place they stayed for a rather short time, Lately they have discovered another place a little further West on Newfoundland that MAYBE is connected to the Greenlanders.@@didierduplantier8359

Yeah. I remember I found this movie epic as a kid, and then I grew up, decided to watch History's Vikings(also inaccurate in a many aspects, like the outfits are sometimes very far off), decided to look further into the Horse mythology and viking culture. They weren't really monsters, the british just feared them because they were pagans. The "vikings" were actually pretty similar to my people(Slavic people). Also, the term viking itself - it just means 'sailor' most likely, yet in History's TV show it's used like some cool word, and in media like this, this Pathfinder movie, it's used to describe 2d cardboard cutouts of "movie monsters" in a human form, with horned helmets. Fun fact - not a single horned helmet was ever found.

there's not such thing as viking "culture", it was a line of work. Most norse people were farmers, and even those occasionally engaged in raiding during winter, when they couldn't farm Viking culture is an invention born from movies and TV shows

Not again. Vikings didn't bring horses with them. There were no horses in the Americas. The Spaniards introduced them for the first time. Simple stuff done so wrong because the writers were lazy or ignorant or simply thought that everybody else is.

I learned a lot about Vikings and Native Americans from this movie.

If history is to be accurately told the Red lndians defeated the Vikings.That is the reason why Vikings did not settle there.lt is deliberately left out of history for unkown reasons.Vikings conquered England with easy and failed to do the sam in America because of the strength of the red INDIANS on the battle field.

This was going to be rubbish. I'll own up. Thoroughly enjoyed it.

I watched this movie based on the comments and Karl Urban is usually good, but this movie sucked big time! Terrible cinematography, ridiculously inaccurate and just plain silly. The makers had this great cast and did nothing with it. Totally unwatchable. Save yourselves

Why do movies like this always make the native Indians look so weak and innocent? The Indians had armies of fierce warriors. It would be like if someone from China discovered France or Germany but was stopped by an army of natives. Even if you are as weak as chickens I love this YT video of a million chickens vs 100 T Rexes and the chickens win.

We natives did encounter Vikings but we defeated them after they unalived an innocent native. The Vikings ran and never came back. They did not want the smoke.
