Nah, he didn't miss "a lot". I don't have the stats to back this up, but I'm pretty sure his conversion rate was pretty high compared to any other Chelsea player on our current squad.

Ales is good be he isn't consistent.... I used to watch juninho a lot when I was a kid... His ratio of goals from free kicks were crazy....

Alex’s ones are my favorite the aggressive fast run up, the monster power and the way he hits it with the outside of the foot and the ball swerve around the wall is just beautiful to watch.

Back when we had proper free kick takers... Zola, Drogba, Lampard, Alex, Mata... Nowadays we have Alonso, Mount and Willian over free kicks but we barely ever score...

They were both leaders. We cannot undermine Ballack's free kick ability. Dude can hit the ball. But so does Drogba.

@@muktherock We had a whole team of leaders, HOWEVER Drogba has squad/club seniority (tenure) over Ballack. Can you imagine someone taking over penalty duties over Lampard?!? That's absurd. Ballack can obviously take free-kicks and penalties but in every squad there's a hierarchy/leadership duty. Ballack wasn't for THAT range and angle.
