I'd love to hear them perform anything by The Doors, but yes, The End would be very very cool. The dark poetry in The End is something Rebecca could really get into.👍 @@artistbrindle

Good Lord I love you both so much, for so many years (too many to mention), Larkin Poe have been my bread and butter, getting me through the worst times like when family die, and also the best times … walked down the aisle to Larkin Poe playing out the speakers.

Wow! The best compliment I can pay this is that the original gives me goosebumps and so does your cover. Bitter Sweet is a hard tune to put a different slant on because it's the same 4 chords all the way through - but you've found a way that makes it sound MEGA. Great effort. 🙏

Very true. I've known this song for a loooong time and have even made a modest cover version of it myself but never have I felt the lyrics that intensely. Sublime artistry indeed!

Megan 's slide in the room's natural reverb sounds brilliantly haunting. Assuming she didn't already have some reverb on. And Rebecca's use of her vocal dynamics building it up. Goosebumps y'all!

There's lots of reverb on Megan's amp. Also on Rebecca's voice when she really belts + echo. Very nicely done.

So much has already been said about this performance, but here's my 2 cents worth: At times, so much more emotional intensity can be given over to an audience by employing a stripped back musical arrangement such as we see and hear in this video. Rebecca's vocals start very quietly and as she sings a bit louder, she switches to a more breathy-like whispering tone. Meagan comes in with the song's identifiable musical motif using a large hall reverb, giving her notes a much deeper perceived sound stage. (P.S. The string orchestra melody used by the Verve was actually sampled from an early Rolling Stones song) By the middle of the song, Rebecca starts to use more of a full voice which grows in intensity, range, and volume. If you listen closely, it sounds like they were using some kind of gated echo that only gets heard when Rebecca's voice exceeds the set threshold, especially near the end when she sings "Have you been down" a few times. It's those louder, short vocal phrases, along with that cascading echo which makes it sound as if she was singing her heart out upon a mountain top. So you see, a sparse musical arrangement utilizing some judicious use of signal processing can result in some powerful emotional connections between performer & audience. Two more notes: That last vocal part of Rebecca's along with the echo actually reminded me of Ann Wilson's voice of Heart. Songs like Heart's "What About Love?" comes to mind. The dynamic range of her voice plus those echoes in the louder high parts always sound full of intensity & emotion. BTW... anyone recognize the microphone? To me, it looks a bit like a vintage Neumann U-67, but I'm not sure. It's certainly a large diaphragm condenser mic for sure... and Rebecca certainly put the mic's capabilities on display with that vocal. J.R. 🎶😎🎶

Wow. This has always been a song that I will nod my head for about 30 seconds and then get distracted cause it couldn't hold my attention. Alot of live loopers like to cover this cause it's so, well, simple. This cover is the best I've heard, and you kept me engaged throughout. Your vocals are, as ever, spectacular, but Megan's approach to the steel on that strings line is inspired. I stopped what I was doing and was just enchanted. Beautiful!

Those low notes at the beginning really challenged your vocals, but you lit it up. This is actually the first time I've ever really "heard" the lyrics, although I've heard this on the radio many times. Your rendition took it up a notch. When you two play together you really "inhabit" the song. making it a very good experience. Thank you.

I kinda fell in love with these guys the first video of them that I saw, "Mad as a Hatter," the one where they performed live in that church

Oh my goodness, that was ridiculously wonderful.

I listen to all things LP. But in this particular case, I almost didn’t, as the Verve version never inspired me much. In spite of the excellent hook, the original just seemed to “drone on” endlessly. This is absolutely terrific though! The sisters brought life, emotion and musical dynamics to it! Hit it out of the park again!

This song has been a fave since it was released. Many, many covers, some very good, some not so much. Many have technical chops but no feeling. But this... THIS! I just discovered these beautiful women recently and, as a blues fan, of course I loved them immediately. BUT THIS!! Holy crap! This is the only cover of this tune that I like more than the original (and I LOVE the original)! These two FEEL it! And they draw me in & make me feel it, too. Cuz, yeah! I HAVE been down. And I can tell they have, too. I've listened to this like 20 times tonight. I've had my son listen to it. I enjoy their original music but tonight... IDK, tonight I am down. I miss my 1st wife cause she sang great & I miss having a woman who sings but I digress. I'm gonna lay back now, 6am, been a long night. Gonna dim the light, put the headphones back on and put Larkin Poe on loop. Fall asleep with a tear in my eye, dreaming of things that will never be...
