It is quite common for countries to have prisons that have a segregated section for women and some shared facilities such as classrooms. It is often the case that the lower number of women mean that having prisons just for them results in them being much further away from home (some families can't visit) and having fewer facilities for healthcare or rehabilitation.

The justice system couldn’t handle that dude so the ladies took care of things. Karma is a wicked bitch.

While murder is never justifiable, it's hard to ignore that Farah Swaleh Noor was an abusive predator with a long history of criminal behavior. Given the lack of protection from the authorities, the Mulhall sisters were pushed to a desperate act of self-defense. Society failed these women, and their actions, though extreme, were a tragic result of that failure. Perhaps instead of condemning them outright, we should be questioning why they felt that murder was their only way out

I agree. Never ever ever justifiable. In this case though if I was the judge, I'd give them a 1 year suspended sentence with time already served. I would however order community service with the stipulation that they work with survivors of these terrible ordeals in order to provide hope and healing for their lives. Case closed.

I really believe that sentencing needs to be reviewed here in Ireland, sometimes it appears to be incredibly lenient, especially in relation to gender violence.

Definitively not murder, manslaughter, possibly self defence. He was a known r.p.ist. So could easily cause someone who’s not sober to feel that they have to give it their all to defend themselves. No life sentence. 5-6 year sentences 18 months in rehab and 18 months in a mental health facility, then housed in different locations so they can rebuild their lives, this is for the sisters.

when I saw "Scissor Sisters" in the title, I had completely different expectations

Interesting fact why sentences were so shortz especially for the mother who eloped; all 3 were given financial and legal support through NGO and 3rd party Irish traveler support groups. They kicked up a storm, making multiple media statements, protests and campaigns, under the idea of "cultural discrimination". Prosecuting travelers often brings repeat appeals, protests, targeted "events" in protest and over all massive headaches. So, they often get lighter sentences, unsupervised release and visits, as well as access to commissary fee would, all to brush things under the rug. Discrimination can be a fantastic weapon.

I immediately went to work in the care giving field in one form or another not realizing the person who needed care and comfort the most was myself. Of course much better than the other way around.
