I like remasters when they don't change or remove content.

I do understand the points you make, but you're also missing a very important reason for some of these "cash grabs" like Legend of Dragoon, Grandia, Syphon Filter and many others, and it's the generational change, meaning, yes, you and me we played those games 25 years ago or do, but there's people born every year, and there's people that were born, let's say, 10-15 years ago, and once they get to experience these games (thanks to these re-releases) can fall in love with them without having to shell out hundreds of dollars for a copy of it. That's why the ones I really don't get why they would "remaster" and sell you for full price like The Last of Us games, and the like, games that are about 5 years old and they want to sell again with those excuses.

Great video, Erick! I definitely agree with your argument about people caring more about the "what" instead of the "how" and "why" nowadays. It seems universal across various media, especially video games and other niche interests, like manga. I have a manga/figure IG account, and after posting a detailed review on a title, I would usually receive a "Do you like it? Would you recommend it?" in the comments section. Definitely frustrating! 😑 Thank you for continuing to have great content across both of your channels! 😊

I see TikTok as a negative too, I rather watch a full video than any shorts. If Muramasa the demon blade doesn't come out for Switch there's always hope for Switch 2.

In regards of remakes and remasters, companies see these as easy cash grabs. They don’t have to pay for everything they would have to (writing, design and other features) for a brand new IP or brand new sequel. In my opinion these companies are deathly afraid to innovate since it could mean no return on investment in putting out something new and refreshing since it could also flop. These remakes/remasters do bring in old and new generations of gamers since us older gamers can relive a great past experience with new quality of life improvements and newer gamers get a brand new game if you think about it. I, myself do prefer the older generation of gaming up to early PS3/XBOX360 times, because it just seemed these developer companies were not afraid to actually innovate. Some games would be amazing experiences and some games just sucked and flopped for it. However, even today we can see features of the older bad games being used in new games and these features have stuck, therefore making some of these recent games awesome. All in all, I just miss the true passion and innovation that used to go on most of older games in these latest generations of gaming.

I still like my vitas, and Dragon's Crown, Muramasa Rebirth, and Odin Sphere Leifthrasir were and still are my favorite 3 games on that system. I still constantly gripe about getting those 3 games brought over to switch and it makes no sense to me to not have them on it. Also Freedom Wars, though it isn't Vanillaware. Those are my biggest "wish we had em for Switch" games

Ender Lilies and its sequels are possibly the best Muramasa-like action RPGs for Steam.

Is there still a audience to sell Vanillaware games from the past to when the majority have already pirated it on PC?

Steam is my "console" since I don't even have a TV for a standard console. I'd grab Unicorn Overlord or Odin Sphere or probably others if Vanillaware would realize it's a valid platform. Almost all PS and Xbox games come to Steam, and only Nintendo has it's own ecosystem apart from Steam/PS/Xbox with games I can't access (not enough to buy a Switch).

The only problem with grand knight is the fact the game is mostly multiplayer. I wanted to play it but it needs a pc port. Secondly yes all vanillaware games should came on pc i would buy them even if i own them all

As sick as I am of remasters. Dragons crown NEEDS a pc port/remaster. And a sequel... and sure, switch too. I dont have one, but its probably the only relevant console these days IMO since sony effed up playstation.

Both the Switch and PS5 are the most profitable consoles per year of their companies.

Maybe I’m confused but why should NIS pay you? I mean if they are providing you with a review code and there is a mutual benefit to be made between both parties then why pay you as well? You could argue that if your review was payed then it would skew your review. When a new rpg comes out and you review it then it’s going to probably get pretty good views since it’s a recent release.

Couldn’t disagree more. There is a lot I missed out on with those older systems. And I’m not paying an arm and a leg for them. Plus tech has advanced and many TVs today aren’t compatible with those older system’s. So yes I like the ability to play these games I missed out on modern hardware.
